The fact that Shawn doesn’t appreciate Birds at all, makes me love the album even more

Travis isn't the best rapper, but he'll always give you a new experience every release and that's what makes me a huge fan of him. Utopia gave me something I didn't ask for or let alone even expected. While it's not perfect, it still succeeded.

Parasail is 100% about the Astroworld tragedy. When you listen to it with that in mind you feel it so much more. His shouting representing the performance, ending with a growl signifying death. The sirens after sounding like the ambulances. And Chapelle saying "I forgive myself" demonstrating Travis' struggles after the tragedy. Song is a masterpiece

MY EYES is a damn near perfect song. would have loved to hear Sampha a bit more, or Frank Ocean on the high pitched part in the first half, but Travis made a masterpiece with that one

My Eyes is definetly #1 for me off this album. That second half of the song is just perfect. Til further notice is a close second just because of how good JB is.

my theory on the theme of utopia is that he finds the most happiness in his original dark production that he did in his earlier days and in the album it’s shown that utopia is where you feel happiest and i think that the cover being very similar to the original rodeo cover supports it and the fact he had production credits on nearly every song

ASTROTHUNDER is highly regarded as one of Travis’ best song since it was released so I don’t know what bro is talking about

LOOOVE was made in the Yeezus era there's a VINE (yes, a VINE) from that time of Travis playing an unfinished version of the song

I don’t listen to Travis for lyricism, his music puts you in a trance or takes you somewhere. He puts a lot of effort into the production and features don’t feel like they’re only for the sake of it. Utopia better than Astroworld for me

I personally think “THANK GOD” is the best song on the album with “TILL FURTHER NOTICE” coming 2nd

I never really try to dig deep into albums to figure out if I like them or not. I don’t know much about good production, or beat switches that are great, or even lyrics that would be considered impressive. All I know is the feeling I get when I listen to music that has a profound effect on me.

I think travis hit the nail on head with it being named utopia, i get this is supposed to be a TRAVIS SCOTT ALBUM, but i think the point is that he took all the things that made him happy or made us all happy and relived these moments in a travis way

The "Circus Maximus" cut of the album feels a lot more concise (albeit, it omits Lost Forever). Cuts out a lot of the fat and makes it feel a little more consistent.

This reminds me of when astroworld first released. The older fans of him liked it some people hated it cause it didn’t sound like the last album or it “wasn’t mainstream like his last” or “he was experimenting too much” and here we are 5 years later everybody’s saying the same thing it’s crazy 😂😂

I think Travis did great with the content. Many people say he says nothing, but many of the cuts here talk about the good life in such a grimy way, that it's inspiring and sad at the same time. Take for examples, My Eyes, Thank God, Telekinesis, Fein, Hyena, Circus Maximus, Lost Forever, Sirens, Till Further Notice, Love. When one can feel that they relate to the lyrics both in an inspiring and depressing way, that is good content for someone who is heavy in the trap genre. Plus, even in songs where he isn't saying anything, the production and song structures make the songs very enjoyable. Maybe I'm just a big Travis fan, but I do think this project is the most unique and fulfilling project in his discography.

Maaaan the outro from Skitzo and beat switch up around 4 and a half minutes is one of my favorite parts of the album

Man I've been a huge Travis fan since days before, and I can really say that this is probably the first time since rodeo that I've felt this happy after a Travis release😩

I liked utopia but I also felt like at times the main thing holding it back was travis himself and his performances. He brought together this production that at times sounded very high concept and experimental, but didn't really elevate his approach to rapping to accommodate those beats effectively. It also doesn't help that he doesn't talk about much on utopia. The album still feels kinda shallow given the 5 year wait and all he had been thru. To me it kinda feels like those big chocolate sculptures. When u break into it you expect it to be filled with a bunch of other treats, but this one felt a LITTLE hollow. Still a good album tho

After looking at the album credits for Yeezus it turns out Travis is only credited for like 3 songs on the album. Also with Utopia, Travis worked with a lot of the same ppl that Kanye used on Yeezus so maybe that’s why some songs sound so similar

I notice everyone who might not love it was expecting a second Astroworld since that’s where he got most of his new fans. Same with Kendrick. So many expected another Damn and didn’t get that, and are disappointed they didn’t get it. Which I understand to a degree. I myself expected to hear those psychedelic trap bangers. Another No Bystanders, Butterfly Effect, etc. But I’m honestly a bit glad I didn’t get that here. It easily could’ve just been a repeat, and instead Travis challenged himself to give us something we weren’t expecting to hear. And i personally don’t understand it being inspired by Kanye stuff/Yeezus being a criticism. Travis has clearly always been inspired by Kanye. I don’t disagree that some things clearly sound like Yeezus records, but we have to stop acting like him being around Kanye most of his career isn’t why this is prominent on like 5 songs. At least it’s not the entire album. But it’s definitely there. It’s still very much Travis on here. There’s More Owl Pharaoh, and Days Before Rodeo than Yeezus to me personally. But people who just started paying attention with Astroworld won’t get that. The same way there’s a lot of section.80 on MMTBS, but new listeners don’t know that. EDIT: Whether or not you liked Kendrick’s album is irrelevant here. I’m only bringing it up because it’s very reminiscent of what happened during that time. People had an idea of what the next would be because of the last. That’s all I’m talking about.

love how in that airin producer bar drake did on meltdown the sound he makes also has a double meaning. since the sound he makes can be interpreted as the gun airin out or like a film reel on play.

Bro needs to give Birds another listen. THE ENDS, WAY BACK COORDINATE, THRU THE LATE NIGHT, classic after classic. Travis had way better lyrics and these songs are way better than most of Astroworld and Utopia

ik people do tend to never listen to travis for the lyricism and tbh on this album his lyiricism is so so improved like it’s genuinely surprising how much better his lyricism is and the verse on my eyes is a great example cos he keeps one subject for the whole beat switch as well as mentioning the tragedy in a way that wasn’t offensive cos it was so easy to offend when mentioning it

Delresto reminds me of a scene in a movie where everyones at a club dancing and the main character is stumbling around and struggling to find themselves in the chaos, it has a beauty to it but also such horror and thats why its one of my favorites off the album

Respect the idea of Astroworld being more feature based and just a different album then Utopia. Astroworld’s features are what makes it memorable (to me) where as Rodeo and Utopia (like Shawn said) are Travis first with supporting features. Not the other way around like Astroworld

I think that Travis Scott is at his best when hes doing production on most tracks of his album. Thats why Rodeo is his best album and why Utopia is his second best. My opinion

I don’t get the hate Travis gets as a ‘rapper’. Just because he doesn’t give you double or triple entendres every bar doesn’t take away from his flow etc. I personally have him in the goat conversation because his production and project quality along with his (in my opinion) excellent vocals elevates him to the S tier

my only critique about this album rollout that I can see how it kind of confused or even turned some people away from the album was simply IN THE NAME ITSELF. This album has near to nothing to do with Utopia, the world Travis is trying to build, or as Travis described "Utopia is a state of mind rather than a place, everybody can find Utopia no matter where they are at". So based on the album and the aesthetic Travis tried painting prior to the release, I went into the album expecting THAT theme or somewhere around it. With him making it a focal point. No different than what ASTROWORLD did. Or ever Mr Morale, Rodeo, etc. It all followed a theme that fit with the title and aesthetic of everything. This album felt like Travis had a food box and put a burger, taco, pizza, muffins, banana, apple, doughnuts, hotdog, chips, and some pretzels and labeled the box "fruits" rather than "miscellaneous consumables" on one half I would have opened the box surprised and confused, borderline disappointed but ultimately cool with it because I still enjoy those items the other would have been a lot more accepting and understanding on first look. What Yeezus did so well is you don't know wtf Yeezus could possibly mean. So you don't go into the album expecting anything. Just wished Travis would have came up with some random ass name for this album and said random shit for the rollout which would have not left me asking "wtf does this have to do with Utopia". Because clearly this is just a collection of songs Travis made throughout the years and slapped them all together. But once I got past that I ended up appreciating it a lot more. Will take some time to grow on me a little more but I could see this being one of my favorite Travis projects for sure.
