I know your not going to bash any of the trucks that hard in the review. The fans are a big deal the rustler costs a lot more and doesnt include basic fans and heatsink. Thats an extra cost out of the box. The rustler speed claim is just there for marketing purposes. Out of the box and it can barely stay out of thermal cut off at 45mph vortex out of the box arround 52-54mph. The delay at the start is because of the punch being not at max. The weird noise is the tire ballooning and hitting the body sometimes. You are an hobbyshop you want to appeal ro both brands and attract more custumers and i understand that but just telling you my 2 cents and what a lot of people think about those two trucks side by side
@bchobbies
@bchobbies 3 жыл бұрын
That's fair. Since all the trucks we review get sold to customers afterwards (at a slight discount), we have to go pretty easy on them, so we didn't push the Rustler hard enough to run into the heat issue or discover any of the commonly broken parts. I was quite happy with how the Vorteks performed, but I consider the quality control issues to be a major knock against it.

I've wanted a rustler since owning my Losi XX buggy back in 94 (i still have it). Have been looking to return to rc and like crazy had trouble deciding btwn these two... This video sealed the deal. Rustler had it 30 years ago and still wins my pick. Tho the Vorteks DOES win the beauty contest. Lol

It’s funny that at my closest hobby shop, most of the employees are all about Arrma and say their quality and design is better than Traxxas. When I went to a different store (in the same family) farther from my home and asked about a Typhon 3S, everyone there said stay away from the Arrma 3S line and said they’d pick a Rustler 4x4 VXL instead (also on my shopping list). They did speak highly of the Arrma 6S lineup, though. There’s quite a price jump to that line and I think a Typhon 6S is overkill for my wants/needs. I like the Rustler 4x4 VXL but it bugs me they don’t include cooling fans for the price. I’m considering the Hoss now for $40 more which includes an ESC fan and the larger motor.

hey your narration skills were really good… It looks like you practice from a script and I wish more people would do that… It makes it way more precise without wasting words or our time. Just thought I'd say good work.

Thanks! I do write a script for these beforehand, and usually end up doing several takes of each line.

I have a Vorteks and love it. And I agree there are QC issues but the warranty process takes care of those. Overall it's a super fun truck to drive and easy to work on. And if you have more than one of the Arrma 3s line the parts are mostly interchangeable. Oh and sooooo much cheaper (and faster) than the Rustler.

If you can get them on it :,D since arrma has a reputation of really bad customer service or sometiems even parts avalaible...

I have a Rustler 2WD XL-5 and it's my favorite RC car to date, however, in this case I went with the Arrma. It's 10mph faster, I like the basic design better, it looks amazing, and there's less that I'd want to change with it. The drivetrain needs some upgrades, apparently, but I'm fine with that. The Rustler could use a few things as well.

I think the 2wd brushed version of the Vorteks was out back when you made this review, therefore you actually could've gone for a cheaper version as well, just like the rustler

The 2WD Vorteks was not available when we filmed this. It would be interesting to revisit the Vorteks vs. Rustler comparison with the basic 2WD models.

EXCELENT VIDEO How long did you manage to drive like this?????
@bchobbies
@bchobbies 11 ай бұрын
As I recall, we got about 30 minutes out of a battery pack on the Vorteks. The Rustler lasted quite a bit longer (maybe 45 minutes) due to its lighter weight.

Clearly you favor the Traxxas but I have both and I can say the Arrma Vorteks is by far the better one

I did really enjoy driving the Vorteks, and I actually think it has a slight edge over the Rustler in handling, but that missing bearing was a big knock against it. If that hadn't happened, I might very well have picked the Vorteks as my favorite, but it's hard to recommend a vehicle with such shoddy quality control. It is a really fun vehicle to drive, though.

I want to buy armma vorteks 3s or Typhon 3s blx. What do you recommend and which of these two cars is better?
@bchobbies
@bchobbies Жыл бұрын
@@HGynaika_mou_me_varaei Both are solid vehicles, and both share a lot of parts. I believe the Typhon has a longer wheelbase. It mostly comes down to which body style you prefer.

Why did you like the Traxxas better
@bchobbies
@bchobbies Жыл бұрын
It's lighter, easier to work on, runs longer on a battery, and there's a lot more aftermarket stuff available for it. We've also found Traxxas to have much better consistent build quality than Arrma (the missing bearing being a perfect example). We had a lot of fun with both vehicles, though, and the Arrma did have the advantage in a few areas, such as the cooling fans and a faster stock servo.

Sweet I'm not alone my 1st vortex had all 4 outer bearing missing and I did try to drive it! Well it didn't go well crashing at around 30 mph the avc freaked out with all the wobbly wheels on t was kinda funny !!! My 2nd vortex had way to much loctite that was melting into the motor and the bearing this is why arrma had bearing problems with there pass motor bearings failing just a heads up when you buy one just check it before driving 😁
@bchobbies
@bchobbies 3 жыл бұрын
All 4 missing! That's not good. Horizon's quality control does seem to have some serious issues these days. It's too bad - the Vorteks would be a great truck if they could consistently assemble them properly.

@@bchobbies agreed one more note I checked all my other arrma have a QC sticker both vortex I had didn't hmmmm kinda says it upfront about it better then having a sticker but crazy problems it's kinda funny my felony kraton exb senton granite all been great vortex is still great just needs a QC sticker
@bchobbies
@bchobbies 3 жыл бұрын
@@secureprivacy2080 I wonder if there was some kind of mix-up at the factory and a batch of Vorteks's got shipped out without going through quality control? That would certainly explain the problems, and the lack of the stickers.

@@bchobbies my thoughts on it is they kinda did a last minute decision to use parts from there line up quick so it would be a new model but with covid suppliers having parts available is tuff so it was a mad dash to make them at last minute to get product out or they would have looked really bad so they probably had to bring in more help or new workers and this is what you get bad product that could be great but it's hard to get the bitter taste out of the customer is the results

Theres a lot more than how they perform. They both have flaws and design flaws specially the rustler that has yet to fix those designs flaws for now years. Another example the vortex sometimes bends motor mount and pops u joins if the clutch is too tight. In the other hand the rustler snaps driveshafts overtime. The shock caps like to pop off and make ur truck a whole mess of oil, the center clutch besrign carrier is made of plastic and needs to be upgraded to alluminum out of the box or ur going to melt that piece and destroy a lof of things. Why have a plastic piece in the middle of a extremly hot drivetrain part. I cannot tell you. I know all of that because i owned a rustler. Driving it for a few days isnt the sa,e as owning it for almost a year and founding the issues. The vortex has wheel issues who like to bend for some reason. But the platform in general is extremly resilient. But they are not beginner friendly imo.
@EXTREMERC416
@EXTREMERC416 3 жыл бұрын
And the shock shafts in the rustler are 2.0Mm i think they bend like no tomorrow. I mean you pay a premium price but cant hold itself overtime and you have to row a lot of money to dix those issues

I feel like your opinion was biased and there wasn’t enough credit given to the vortex. ARRMA is better No argument. That’s why the Kraton wins basher of the year every year.
