Nice truck! Love the Fox Racing logo on the hood! I used to be sponsored by Fox when I raced motocross. I miss those days

That is my only Traxxas vehicle and it's been a very long time since I have raced it. Thanks for watching and for the sub 👍

It depends on the track of course. It's been a while since I've run the truck, but I was running a combination of tires. I believe I was running JConcepts Subcultures on the front and JConcepts Choppers on the rears. Hope this helps.

We had the same issue with the Pro-Specs. Ended up stretching the stock Traxxas springs and using those. Issue solved.

I hadn't raced it in awhile. I finally took it out a couple of weeks ago and took 4th place with it. The same track has another event in couple of weeks so hopefully I can find some tires that hook up at that track.

Awesome setup man I got a used slash 2wd with a vxl esc 1406 4600kc castle motor stock 2075 servo heavy duty stainless steel traxxas drive shafts. I’m replacing pretty much everything black lcg chasis GTR shocks rpm arms front and back bought a tqi radio and receiver. Probably forgetting a lot more but basically your build and the slightest misbehavior from the tranny I’m slapping a traxxas magnum transition

About the diff it was probably the spider gears inside of the diff I had that exact same problem were the spider gears lost a few tooth’s and I just replaced it with a new stock diff

I had put in a different slipper clutch. I think that could have been where the chatter came from. But I did have a Proline Racing transmission laying around so I swapped it. I never did open up the old one.

Thanks, It's a good starter or backyard basher. It is a bit outclassed on the track where I race but I am giving those guys a run for their money tho. Thanks again for watching :-)

@@ScottzillaRC it depends on the track.. some have "Beginner classes" or "Sportsman's" Classes witch can be "Bone stock" or by age.. if you can find a good track with good people they will tell you everything you need to know.. and maybe then some... At the track that my son and I started out at.. it was like a big family that you have to get introduced too. Everybody helping everybody. People lending part's Borrowing tool's, Charger's, Batteries, and maybe even a whole car!
@ScottzillaRC5 жыл бұрын
That is pretty much how our track is and most tracks that I have visited. Thanks for your feedback

@@ScottzillaRC In my opinion a Traxxas Slash 2wd is the best place to start as far as affordability goes.. as you break stock part's. Witch you will. Upgrade to R.P.M A Arms, front and rear bumpers, Spindle's etc.. never ever go with anything that any company makes or has made out of Aluminum!! Unless you are into looking pretty while you break parts.
@ScottzillaRC5 жыл бұрын
I agree completely. I don't have any RPM parts tho, as I don't break stuff to often. There has been some talk at the local track about having a stock class for the new Traxxas 4X4. That would be a fun class as the playing field would be very even.

The sound from the traxxas transmission is the slipper clutch input shaft
@ScottzillaRC5 жыл бұрын
That was actually my 2nd Traxxas transmission. The 1st was a real mess when I opened it up. The local hobby shop had no clue of what could have caused that kind of damage. When I 1st got the truck it I was running 3s and was constantly rebuilding the motor. The 2nd Traxxas tranny I got tired of changing out the slipper due to broken pads so I was trying out a Hot Racing slipper.

Thank you, good luck at the track!!

I'd wager that noise was coming from inside the differential. The factory Traxxas diff is not sealed and is lubricated by old school grease. It can hold up to punishment for awhile but it is bound to fail with the amount of juice typical lipo batteries are putting out now. Hot racing makes a decent sealed diff and FLM makes a damn near bullet proof one. Make sure to upgrade the idler gear too and the top shaft if you can find a decent hardened one.

Nice slash...i need some shocks like those for ours...what kind of tires wheels do u have? I got a used slash 4x4 vxl awhile ago and it came with proline wheels with proline caliber sc #1156 1.70x4.30 tires like new still....i havnt used them because i have other sets for bashing....they looked similar to yours
@ScottzillaRC5 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the late reply. I usually buy pre-mounts for the Slash due to the strange Traxxas wheel off-sets. I really don't have a lot of tires for my 2wd. Jconcepts choppers and subcultures are what I have. My other trucks that I drive more often have a larger selection of tires. The best way to get the right tires is to ask guys at your local track what they run. Every track is different. As far as the shocks I like the Proline Pro-Specs but Proline stopped making them. The PowerStrock is another good shock from Proline. It has been around longer and people seem to like them. I hope this helps

Looks great.....are you still using it? I Bought the Slash Ultimate and its got every upgrade available but i'm thinking of going 2wd, whats your thoughts?
@ScottzillaRC2 жыл бұрын
I have been racing since COVID and all the bad weather we have been having here. After I got in to 4x4 and buggies I only raced the 2wh at a few different tracks. For me the 4x4's are easier and faster to drive.

Does the servo make it turn faster? I have the stock servo and it is really, really slow.
@ScottzillaRC2 жыл бұрын
Quicker and more durable. I was taking the truck to a very rough 1/8th scale track and break the servo every time I went there. I think I bought all the replacement gears in my local area, so I just decided to upgrade the servo lol
@carlmanx16805 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry to say but the stock Traxxas transmission is way better than the "Spendy" Pro line.... Don't worry.. you will find out on your own... Like my son and I did... Same with steel Axel's. As I watch further.. transmission noise is most likely to be a piece of sand got into the main drive gear.. or.. motor and Drive gear are not mated correctly.. put a piece of receipt paper between your motor gear and the drive gear. Then tighten down the set screw's.
@ScottzillaRC5 жыл бұрын
Hopefully I will have better luck with the proline tranny. Since they stopped making the tranny I stocked up on spurs

@@ScottzillaRC What motor and esc and how tight are you running the slipper clutch?
@ScottzillaRC5 жыл бұрын
I'm running stock electronics. As far as the slipper it's a bit tighter than the stock setup.

@@ScottzillaRC I was talking to my son today and he reminded me of what happened to the Pro - Line Tranny.. lol We upgraded the motor to a Castle Sidewinder 3. Witch ran amazingly well on the track. but we threw on a set of Pro - Line "Sling shot's" and we're beating the Piss out of it on a Washed sand beach.. I'M pretty sure It just might have had just a little something to do with all of the torque.. lol though that rooster tail was pretty awesome!!

It all depends on the track composition, humidity, blah blah blah.. driving style, etc. It's pretty much something that you will learn in time. Watch pro's.. get tip's... There is no single magical formula.
