Who knew Turkey had the oldest structure in the world. Gobekli Tepe at 12,000 years old its older than the pyramids. We also heard about ancient statues on top of Mount Nemrut that we just had to go and check out.

I literally worked in the implementation process of some facilities like the ticket office, shuttle service area, parking area etc. of the Gobeklitepe site as a controller for the Government. This video is one of the best vlogs I have seen so far for both sites. You made so big promotion of my country. Thank you for everything, I will share this in Facebook :) and happy new year :)

Actually the sunset and the sunrise on top of Mt. Nemrut are spectacular, it's like a laser show out of this world with the statues appearing as if they were alive. This episode can be regarded as the " Grande Finale"of your adventures in Turkey. Thank you for all your efforts and the artistic value of your vlogs.

I'm so glad you mentioned that there was a documentary on this place. I did a search and found one on KZfaq, the Documentary Channel called The Secrets of Gobelki Tepe, it looks like a good one to watch. That was a bit scary coming down from Mt. Nemrut, poor Trudy, she does her best but sometimes she just needs a little rest for those weary brakes of hers....she's a trooper! Hope you two and the family have a very Happy New Year! Cheers

I've been to Nemrut a couple times back in the mid 70's,then there was only one very rough track up,you were lucky. You forgot to mention that there is supposed to be a burial under that huge conical pile of rocks on top, least that's what is thought, but difficult to investigate because of the obvious unstable nature of it.yet another fantastic drive, many thanks.

More beautiful scenery. Very interesting dig site. I visited Mt Nemrut 16 years ago and there was no driving up to the 600m mark. We hiked from the bottom for almost 2 hours to see the sun rise. Lucky our guide carried a bottle of turkish champagne to celebrate. So you guys got it easy lol. It was incredible.

What a great video ! Driving down that mountain with no brakes gave me the chills ! A bit of advice ; You should have the brake fluid in Trudy flushed and replaced with new fluid. If brake fluid is not replaced every 4 years it absorbs moisture which then changes to vapor when the brakes get really hot and then you lose your brakes. Stay safe and have a wonderful new year 👍

That's a good point, and using engine braking would make a huge difference. Keep in low gear and let the engine hold the vehicle back. Of course you'll need a bit of braking but it shouldn't need much and will keep the brakes cool for when you really need them.

It has changed so much from the Summer of '97 when I spent time there. (honeymoon).. there was not any tourist center.. just family style restaurant and "motel"... we were there in the evening so I so enjoyed seeing views in the daytime... when we went back down my friend said" directional problem". translation, steering problem! we went to Adiyaman on way back to Urgup and fixed the problem at service place... we were able to drive up where the "walkway" is now...

The World's oldest temple that changed history books...We always believed that Human-beings first settled and the religion emerged..but Gobeklitepe means religion started before settlement..We have to belive this until another discovery that may change this..to me, we don't know nearly anything about World and Universe yet...If we knew the truth, we would go crazy..It is better not to know everything ;)))

There are few rules with heavy cars, vans and campervans: brake with your engine, and go twice as slow as you would go with a normal car. You have to drive very patiently if you drive on winding roads, meaning let the gravity do the driving, and you have to brake in 2nd gear mostly, sometimes 3rd gear, and 1st on hard corners. Do not be afraid of high revs when braking, on diesel engines 5000 rpm is acceptable, but do not go over that because gearbox and oil in it gets hot and you could damage oil seals on driveshafts and loose oil from the gearbox (this happened to me with camper). If you are going uphill, no matter winter or hot summer, especially during summer months, you have to turn on your heating to maximum and roll down your windows, and turn of your airconditioning to lessen the strain on engine and avoid overheating and eventualy leaking on your head gasket due to high temperatures. Follow these rules, and you will be able to drive without breakdowns. Also, after steep hill climbs, check your coolant level, and check your oil level every 500km or after prolonged drive on highways at speeds 100km/h or over that. Keep your eyes on temperature gauge, check it regularly while driving...

Now jumping way ahead to your upcoming trip to the U.S. Don't forget Lake HAVASU City , Arizona. Very Turkish sounding !! Another reason to stop there is the London Bridge . Hi from Australia - we are planning a trip to Turkey in 2023. I'm having an adult gap year away from work seeing as I'll be turning 50 and can't wait to finally have our holiday that has been postponed again and again by covid. Your videos are great and super helpful. Just a question about driving - have you got an international driving license and did the Police ask to see it every stop? Thanks, Fi

Hi Fi - we do, but in Turkey you need to get your home drivers licence translated and notarised if you are there longer than 3 months 👍

@@TREADtheglobe I just read your post that Chris has had surgery - take care and hopefully a speedy recovery. I love your videos, you pair remind me of my Aunt and Uncle who drove around Australia in a Toyota Hiace 30+ years ago with their undies often hanging off the side mirrors, drying LOL. Chris has the best laugh ever!

Ha ha !! Thanks that made me LOL !!! In our early videos driving around the coast of Ireland ... I actually forgot to bring the washing in and had my bra and pants hanging off the wing mirror and windscreen wiper blades LOL !! Your Aunt and Uncle sound like our kind of people for sure 😂🌺👍

Excellent content again, but I noticed that you need to do a bit of work on Trudy's sills before shipping her off to the States.

Try putting your transmission in a lower gear on the down side of a mountain. Sorry you didn't have time to watch the sun set on Nemrut.

Hi. So sorry this isn’t related to this fantastic video. Could you please direct me to your video that informs how to obtain the ikamet? We are currently in Turkey and looking to extend our stay. I have serious FOMO watching everywhere you’ve been here! Thanks a million

Hi Denise - we didn't do a specific video - subject to where you are, google agent for vida / Ikamet - or ask a Turkish friend local to you - who can explain the process in your area - Kind regards Marianne xx

@@TREADtheglobe Thanks Marianne, I’ll do that. May I ask if you used someone’s Turkish address for yours, or did you manage to use Trudy as your home please? Thank you very much

Hey stay on the mountain top. Time ticks off slower for you relative to the rest of us as the gravity up there is less. You will age less relative to us at a lower altitude.
