What a day…. what initially seemed like ‘one of those days’ was turned upside down with a finds from the 17th century followed by a BUCKETLIST find!

Hi John…Slim here from Australia, just watching your ep at 11 pm and I could not believe what I was hearing! Thank you and Eon for the shout out maaaate! You inspire us maaaate with your eps. Our latest ep called “Famine from the potato patch” was the ep we put together when we meet Eon and his maaate on the creek, My mate Lucky Pete took Eom onto the private permission we were on and showed him around the place. He was gobsmacked! I shall call Eon and thank him personally. Eon had nothing but high praise for you! Small world indeed John….cheers Slim

If you are going on a detecting holiday - go to England would be my advice. If you want majestic scenery then go to Scotland. Finding hammered coins and ancient relics is a good bit easier in England (I say that as a Scot who has detected in many areas in both countries) …. maybe only 5 percent of my detecting time has been in England, but that has accounted for about 50 percent of my hammered coins. That gives an idea of the difference. Obviously I hope to unearth a large pot of hammered here in Scotland to change that stat very soon.

William the 4th, though short in his reign actually had a profound legacy as his reign saw the monarchy move from a monarchy that had the ability to influence the electorate by throwing out ministers and even parliament to a constitutional monarchy where the king had very little ability to influence. William the 4th accepted this and was considered a benevolent king. During his reign parliament reduced the use of child labor, ended slavery in most of the colonies and other important laws.

Great info!!! Much appreciated. As you saw I knew little about him as I’ve found more Roman coins this year than I’ve found of him in 24 years!!

@thescottishdetectorist Wikipedia notes this on his legacy: "William understood that as a constitutional monarch he had no power to act against the opinion of Parliament. He said, "I have my view of things, and I tell them to my ministers. If they do not adopt them, I cannot help it. I have done my duty."

Yep, after a bad first half of the match McEachen on the ball now, he passes 2, kicks and scores! 🥳 What a comeback! Very nice finds mister J. And I advocate for more Jura! 😂 Tie a hoard hunter to her tale, learn her to dig on bleep and she’ll have a field done in no time.

Another fact about George lll. Many Canadians occupy land that was granted to them by George III, when they fled the 13 colonies and settled in Quebec and Nova Scotia.
