Definitely "was" a toy Canon and that pocket knife is for sure late 1700's just by the shape. What a great place to detect. Thanks for taking us along Brad.

A country kid would never think to load up a toy cannon w/ pilfered 3x black powder or a couple Lucifer heads....a wad and a fishing sinker, and an opposing force of Pewter/lead opponents.....I never would have thought of such a thing....not on such a small scale.....LOL !!! Kudos Brad.

The small hook you found is a tentor hook, used for tying back draperies. The flat end had a wood screw thread that must have rotted away or broken off. Cool find.

That's what I think it is. After being a lot of Amish houses, that looks just like the curtain tie holders they use.

My dad made a scaled down Napoleon civil war cannon (down to 50 cal) by hand. He was a machinist for HP. Lots of amazing skills. I told my dad the only thing I wanted of his is that cannon as it remindes me of the kind of talented person he is. Well he gave it to me a couple of years ago and keeps asking me if I have shot it. Frankly I have been afraid to shoot it for fear of damaging it while hauling it around. I have all the instructions and recently told him I would take it out next week to shoot as I know it will make him happy. I am very excited to do this now. I decided that I am going to make a box to store it in when moving it so it doesn't get damaged.

Recognized the canon right away. That was my favorite find of this video. Imagine how unhappy the owner was when it exploded. Likely loaded with too much black powder!!

A bit off subject, but what do you think about "The Curse Of Oak Island" and some of the metal detecting on that show? I think it's funny that they find two or three things then wrap it up for the day. I really like the way you do thing on this channel. You seem to search from daylight to dark every time you're out there. Keep up with the great videos.

The L-shaped object you showed us at 7:40 once had an iron screw (long rusted away) sticking out at the now flat end and would have been screwed into the wall in which to hang a picture. They are still reproduced by Optimum Brasses ( catalog online) of Great Britain. They were made in several sizes depending on how heavy the picture was. It’s always fun to see the cool treasures you find, Brad! Thank you for taking us along.

The crushed cylindrical object with the ball on the end cap, and the pin on one side (there would have been another pin just like it on the opposite side of the cylinder) which was the mounting pin on a toy cannon. It looks more like the barrel of a naval cannon model/toy, rather than field piece. IMHO. The small hook object you found looks like what was screwed into the window frames at grandma's house and they were used as a point to tie back curtains or drapes.

Having been pipe smoker, I don't think that object is a tobacco tamper. There's no use for the right angle. Pipe tools usually have the tamper at one end and some kind of scoop or scraper at the other end.

Sweet, quality vid as always. Have you ever thought about revisiting a particularly choice patch with a very different detector someday? I know sod-all about the practicalities, but might something like one of those deep-diving, fancy, expensive Minelabs with the large coils they use on the goldfields, perhaps produce interesting results on an otherwise exhausted patch that has produced heaps of treasures for more artifact-oriented devices in the past? Could be an interesting experiment. I'm sure some champion (or maybe even Minelab?) would lend you one if the call was put out.

The people that say the knife is a razor because of the size are wrong, I have an 1800's British made penknife in perfect condition made for the US market that is bigger than the one you found here. Also the hook is for curtains, you can still buy them here in the UK so imagine you can in the US too.

Interesting little brass pull. Were you able to determine if the bit on the side end was decorative, or was it broken off there? My guess is furniture, clock, or instrument related. It might have been to release something like a hidden drawer latch. Perhaps a wire attached to it? Looks too dainty in your hand to have been a hook to hang something from.
