Great video, but as others have said you somehow pushed the horse shoe button to low bias instead of high bias and it will now pick up all iron signals. You can see from your screen shots that the iron pick symbol below the sensitivity meter is activated showing you the low bias setting. Big difference. The high bias is the default setting when you turn the machine on in the 540 and makes a big difference.

What I like about this video is that you actually show the readings on the screen..... that's a plus......

Vanquish 540 is a great detector! I've been using mine since 2020 and have found some amazing relics and coins with it! The depth is incredible on it and the target separation is spot on. Minelab did well on the Vanquish series. Thanks for sharing 🤠

You make great videos. Boy, you sure had to explain yourself about the iron to all the critics. Yes, the 340 & 440 have the iron bias set on high. The 540 you can choose. You left them all scratching their heads. Vanquish is not a joke.

Well, I am a newbie gold prospector. I also wanted to have the option to look for some coins. My first choice was the minelab gold monster 1000 but it only finds gold. I also need to purchase a rock crusher and other gold mining equipment. I have watched several videos about the minelab vanquisher 540 because I can buy it for half the price. At 19:25 my mind was made up! That gold charm at 6 inches blew the top of my head off, like those old jet commercials. I know the gold monster is a great gold finder but the fact that the 540 can see gold a half a foot is amazing! The other benefit for the 540 is it can fit in a backpack. If I prospect a river or mine on a river I would need a 3rd hand with most detectors. I am glad that you put this video out and glad I found this video!! I also subbed and may leave ya some comment about gold only hunts. I found 4 ounces of gold last month and man was I tired!!!! Then I walked out of the store and drove home, haha! I got tired of paying $1900 for 1oz of gold so I decided to find my own, lol! Gold hunting a tough sport! I know how to build the rock crusher I need to get gold out of the rocks and I think I can do it much cheaper than buying one. I have figured that a home built rock crusher will set me back $2500. Thanks to this video I can save close to $500 on my metal detector and that will more than pay for the materials it will take to build that crusher! Thank you soo much, I love saving money so if I must I can buy more gold, lol! Oh btw, I call the 540 the vanquisher because this detector dusted more expensive defectors, 😆!!!

Thanks for the great video showing the finds with the Vanquish 540. I really needed to see a good hunt as I been thinking about buying it. I am still up in the air as what I should do as to either get this or go to the top and buy the Equinox 800. I feel the Vanquish is all I need as I do not plan on going in the water. I plan on being at the beach and the shore a lot this spring and summer. I guess I have to make a decision soon as I plan on making a purchase in next 3 to 4 days. Thanks again.

great video, it will really hit those low to mid conductors. Like iffy signals said use can adjust the iron bias and/or use the horseshoe button to check for iron whenever your 540 hits 20 to 40. On the Equinox, often 38 39 40 are almost always iron falsing high or iron wrap around. Hit the horseshoe button and you will hear the iron low grunt.

In my experience.. on the 540 High tones on Iron settings and jewelry settings... are due to the large size and mass of the Object...... if coin is on its edge rather that being flat.. that also changes the readout digitally...

I noticed you didn't have the iron discriminate on i can see the little screw icon is on so you searching all iron. Put it in coin mode and turn iron off

Hi i have just watched your video,i am very impressed with the performance of the vanquish.I live in Malta, I have just ordered a vanquish from the UK, i should have it by next week.No metal detecting allowed here so i will be using it only on the beach and short distance into the water,The cost to me will be 429 p0unds which includes postage. conversion $586.

I live in Australia and I recently bought a Vanquish 540 pro pack which has the 8 inch coil as well as the 12 inch one. It was on sale in a Store called Anaconda . Normally $699 Australian dollars down to $549 . Less than half the price of a Equinox which sells for $1299 here in Australia. So for me that's a good deal for a backup machine to my Equinox 800 that I already have. No I don't expect it to be as good as the Nox because as it has way more options !! One thing another guy said on here , turn your iron bias onto high and you should here more of an iron tone with those iron targets.

I love the Minelab Vanquish 540. I got it 5 days ago and went out metal detecting for the first time and on my 2nd hole dug ever I found a gold ring with a big ruby (with 12 small rubies (11 cause 1 was missing) and 10 small diamonds). Was like 6 inches underground. Looked very old. It showed up at a 15 Target ID. I dug up some others around that Target ID. Got a bottle cap (15 ID), and can pull tab(14 ID). Even got a bottle cap at (20 ID)

Can you do a comparison with the vanquish and the etrac or 3030 espically on the Deep nickel tones to see how the other machine hit

Discrimination bar needs to be set two bars to the left in the red iron graph and you will hear the iron grunt telling you it's garbage,if you hear more grunts than high tones then it's garbage,if you hear more high tones than than the grunt I would dig it.

l wish ppl would stop saying the 540 is an entry level machine. lt might be price-wise - but that could be because the top-end detectors are over-priced. There are plenty of reviews where the 540 has out-performed so-called top brand detectors like Garrett, Simplex, Deus etc. The 340 and 440 might be entry level but the 540 certainly isn't. l really don't like the V12 coil. lt's bulky and uncomfortable and the depth difference isn't much better. The V8 is ideal for this machine and much better at target separation.

I tell you Bought an Ace 250 used a few years back just to get into detecting and was thinking about getting the apex or the at pro, but after watching several reviews and especially yours on the 540 sealed the deal for me. The iron problem might be because of the mode you're running. I'm very new to the 540 , but the other vids I'm watching to learn how to use this machine. They're running in coin mode. Not picking up iron. Again I'm just learning how to use it.

That’s a pretty awesome hunt! Impressed with that vanquish. I’m kinda curious how it would do in areas with a lot of interference. My Minelab 305 could not hunt in some areas because interference. Like the spot you pulled the gold coin, I can’t hunt that well with the 305.

Nice finds with the vanquish 540 it was very interesting to watch you hunt with it in a place that you know has been hit before and who knows maybe it was a good thing you didn't turn on the iron biased? Who knows if that would have effected your depth on some of the good targets you found, I am not sure but will find out this spring, I am impressed with the machine and got one I can't wait to try it out, But personally I would not say that Minelab has outdone them self on the machine, I bought it from watching iffy signals use it and I like the fact you can change out the batteries that they provide if they lose there charge if that happens just simply put in a fresh set on the go, also the tones and back lite screen, collapsible for easy transportation and the performance watching others use it. In order for me personally to say that a company has outdone them self I would expect just a tiny bit more ie waterproof the machine so you do not have to use the rain cover that can distort the screen vision, have the unit up-gradable with online firmware updates, a built in flashlight is asking a bit much but nice to have, color options would be cool like solid black instead of the red, someone might thing you are swinging a stop sign. It's interesting to watch companies evolve there products and will be fun to see what they put out next. I sure like watching your videos and hunts, great job using the Vanquish and showing its capabilities.

Be nice to see this in a residential setting,on how it handles EMI. I know of some of some higher end machines that have to be turned down so low,that you may as well just have a bounty hunter in you're hand. So if this 540 does good to great in those conditions then i would say you have a high end detector.

Is the operator not to the machine if you get a good signal throw it into iron so it can pick iron up an wave it over your target and if it is more than 50% iron signal it usauly a nail or a bolt.

Good realistic hunt video with some great finds! But wow, that's a lot of iron to be digging. Might require more patience than normal of someone new to the hobby.

Your swinging a machine that has a Iron/all metal mode... you get one of those iffy's ... just switch to the iron... if it is Iron it will grunt.

Freshly buried coins are lot harder to detect than one buried a hundred year, because there is no oxidation on freshly buried coins

The vanquish are made like that because of the iron found in coins next time try on relic mode and cancel iron slots -9to 0 , you would also find coins and low karat gold.

Were you operating in relic mode most of the time?

Would the 440 goes same dept as the 450?

What settings are you running?

Turn 90 degrees on those high tones....the signal should get crappy or go away when its iron

Use all metal and you will hear the iron mixed up whit the higher tones. Thats a red flag. I like to use my in old metal and only dig solid signals

You were hitting nickels because you were in jewelry mode .... had you tried your all metal mode ... you would have know those signals were iron
