In this tutorial we are making a Travelers Journal cover for ANY size inserts.
More specifically these are the things you will see demonstrated in this video: (TIMESTAMPS)
1:32 How to make and bind the inserts
13:40 How to make the cover
36:09 How to thread the elastic
37:45 How to assemble your book
41:27 How to add a closure
44:02 Final touches
With the straightforward instructions outlined in this step-by-step tutorial, you'll effortlessly create these books in whichever size suits your preference. You can use them in any way you want, such as journaling, goal setting, bullet journal, grocery lists, common place books - you name it - the possibilities are endless. The inserts are removable, so you can always add a new insert or booklet and keep using your cover. Enjoy!

The roll of vinyl you're using looks like the ones used in a cricut machine. Never worry, you are taking too long to explain things. I'm a seasoned crafter, but I need refreshers on certain methods used. No real crafter should be complaining about how long you're taking. You're never too old to learn. If you see Natasa repeating or taking too long (your opinion), no one is forcing anyone to watch anything. There needs to be more kindness in the world. I love all the travelers notebooks Natasa, and I am never bored watching and listening to you. 🙂♥️

What makes your videos stand out above all the rest (for me) is that you have a soft voice, you go from beginning to end with each step, and you give us written instructions. There are lots of good jj videos that I can't listen to because they have a high pitch candy voice and it's like they're in a race to see how many words they can fit into the video. Or, they are all over the place with their "instructions", leaving me confused and frustrated. I get none of that with yours. And I love your quirky sense of humor. It matches mine. I've no doubt that we'd be really good friends if we weren't so far apart.

I may be wrong but I believe the glitter material that you are using is offcuts of heat tranfer or iron-on glitter vinyl. The top of it has a plastic carrier sheet on ti and the rougher side or dull side goes onto your t-shirt or whatever you want to iron it onto then cover the front with a piece of teflon or a piece of material over the plastic sheet and iron it down then peel the top plastic sheet off and you have a super shiny glitter piece onto your shirt usually cut as a name or saying. There are lots of possibilities ! I have lots of it because I have a Cricut cutting machine, but I love the other ideas that you have for using it! Thank you so much for another incredibly inspiring video!🤗🥰

This tutorial had everything! How to do a more-than-3-hole pamphlet stitch, how to bind in multiple notebooks without separate bands (midori/traveler’s co use separate bands), how to figure out a cover that wraps, hides the internal elastic, and put the closing elastic in a less bulky spot. Standing ovation! 🎉

You don't talk too much, your explanations are very helpful! Keep doing you! I love this whole idea for these journals. That cover is really pretty, but I really do not know what it is. The little bits are washers and it gives the eyelets something to grab onto, and they really do make a difference. I urge people to use them because they are so helpful and also give it a finished look. Fantastic video. Thanks, as always, for sharing your creativity!

Love your videos! 1. You make things that are pretty. 2. You fast forward when you’re cutting paper or doing something else boring. 3. You don’t ramble. Really, you do not. I’ve never heard you talk at length about a flat tire or why you forgot to pick up milk at the Mini-Mart, key phrase being “at length”. 4. You explain what needs to be explained (new techniques especially) and mention pitfalls - so helpful! 5. You use a huge variety of materials, but never push-push-push expensive new tools and products. You use what you have and often show alternatives to what you’re using. Thank you for such wonderful presentations.

Had to tell you what that is! Cricut cutting machine for making t shirts etc... heat activated. So beware if it gets really hot. It may separate from the plastic. Though you can iron it onto a journal.... Traveling journals have been around a long time. Love your take on it. I like to art journal. Your post is very welcome... had been buying Jane Davenport journals and painting the cover. Though post from Australia has gone up since covid. This method is just such a smart use of cricut scraps! The glitter material! These are my fave type of journal though... the removable type.

When I travel, I tie up an empty thread tassel on the junk journal I plan to use and tie things to it that I find! Like a charm, a shell with a hole in it, a rusty washer, a bead I make using a colourful flyer. It's so fun discovering something I could attach! When I get back home I sometimes add beads in the colour scheme I experienced on the trip to top off the tassel and make it full. So fun! Memorable too.

This is one of the best educational (and entertaining) junk journal channels I’ve come across in the 5+ years I’ve been making junk journals. I always learn something from you. I just think it’s odd that someone would come into your hundreds of pleasant and positive comments to express negativity. They are not really part of this community and need to be immediately dismissed. That is all.

I'm a visual learner. I watch and then do. If steps are skipped then I don't learn those steps or I have to learn by trial and error. That's why I love your videos as you explain and demonstrate each step in the process. These are gorgeous! 👍❤️

You never disappoint…your videos are always full of wonderful creativity and inspiration! Thank you!! The material you used for your travel notebooks reminds me of chair/seat covering that was used in the past in diners, cafes and kitchens making it easy to wipe off food or spills???

The way you do your videos is excellent, I do many crafts and no matter how expert sometimes you need a quality refresher from another crafter to follow. I love your step-by-step show and tell. You speak clearly and in terms that all of us can follow, your a fine teacher and so helpful. Keep up the excellent work.

Natasha: the paper pad that you show at 52:59 is called "Trimcraft Premium Paper Pad A4 36/Pkg Santoro Mirabelle"... I think some diligent googling will probably find a source for it - the cover shows the same little girl... I am not going to look for it myself because I already have more than 75(?) unused paper pads in my craftroom!.. lol... Also, I purchased your book as soon as it became available and I LOVE IT!!! everyone needs to get their own copy right now... thanks for another wonderful tutorial...

I've watched many bookbinding videos in the past and you are the only one who explains it sensibly. People get so technical about it and all I needed was someone to just draw a diagram for me. I also really enjoy watching your videos in their entirety and usually I get impatient with other people but something about how you teach the craft, how you talk and how the process unfolds is so interesting so I don't mind watching longer videos. I remember you used to write the instructions down on paper and keep them on screen and I used to love that, it reminded me of my school teachers who would do this and it makes understanding a process so much easier. These journals came out so beautiful. Thank you for sharing these beautiful ideas❤

Your passion for creating with papers is what makes your videos so interesting. You can take a bunch of scraps and show how to make treasures. I watched you make decorations that you called "Clusters" around Christmas. You explained your method for exactly how to make them. Well... I tried following your instructions and ended up with my own version of "Clusters" by including fabric scraps, beads, tiny silk flowers, and tulle netting to the papers. Natasha, what you are really doing for us is teaching us to look around at what we have or can purchase at reasonable cost - and inspiring us to give it a go! Thanks!
