Love the spoon! Clean it with baking soda and peroxide. Rinse numerous times. Use it! The sun is a good idea too!

I buy wooden spoons and other utensils all the time at the thrift stores. To clean them, I use lemon juice, baking soda, and salt. Make a paste and scrub the spoon thoroughly. Then rinse the paste off and wash with soapy water to clean. Let the utensil air dry and it’s good to go.

I use my thrifted wooden spoons too, usually soak in a tiny bit of bleach in water, then soak in clean water a few times, let dry really well and then if scuffed, sand and then wipe with some oil……might take a week or so to get it clean to my standards but I feel ok with it!

I love my feather down pillows. Most comfortable sleep ever. If you decide not to use the wooden spoon, don’t trash it; use it for decor.

I put my pillow inserts in the dryer on high for 20 mins with dryer balls and a scent. Keep the spoon.

Good spoon. Fresh lemon and salt are a good cleaner for cutting boards and wooden implements. No wood in dishwasher.

I like to clean, sand very lightly, clean again and then use food safe oil on wooden kitchen implements I get used. A little cleaning and oil really bring them back.

Trees have the natural ability to fight off bacteria, they do not lose that ability once cut. I use my wooden cutting boards and spoons that I have thrifted once cleaned. I personally think that the plastic things harbor more germs and don't like them.

Take pillow to laundromat, wash with a very small amount of detergent, NO fabric softener, in very hot water. Then dry on high heat.

I would definitely use the spoon. If I buy wooden utensils....I soak them in a diluted bleach solution for several hours....then soak in plain water for several hours....dry in the sun and then use food safe oil to treat. I've never had issues with this method.

I ALWAYS sanitize my wooden utensils good and USE THEM! Soak it in super hot water and cleaner and run it through the dishwasher and you are good to go!

We have saved wooden spoon like your, we use dawn dish soap and a scratch pad to clean and in the dish washer they turn out nice and clean!!! Love your fines!!

Hello Sarah, I boil my wooden spoons with a little baking soda. Then just let them air dry. Never put wooden utensils in the dishwasher. I love your videos, you have a beautiful home 🥰♥️🍁🌹

I’m always looking for old wooden spoons.. I will spray with watered down bleach then soak in hot, soapy water.. I like the sun idea, too !!

Absolutely use the spoon! I always grab the feather pillows as well. I spray them with vinegar some essential oil and air them out in the sun…..good as new!

I would keep the spoon,its obviously vintage and good quality,dishwasher or boiling in hot water for a bit should be fine...I also like down inserts and the way they sit is much nicer , but dont like when they poke me through the cover 😮😅. I wouldn’t use the spoon for food but I’d definitely use it in my decor, as in a vintage bowl or a crock of old kitchen utensils

Let Vivian paint something on the wooden spoon if you don't want to cook with it, of course she'll have to use acrylic paint since water paint will not work well. Hope if she does paint it you'll show the results.

I thank it would be fine to use. Just bowling it in some water with some vinegar or Baking soda. Bowling water.

I like the unique style of the spoon. If it were me, I would wash it in hot soapy water, rinse then rinse again with hydrogen peroxide ( can be found at any drug store) and one final rinse. My act Lucy is the "inspector" in our home lol. xoxo

Good morning Sarah, We used to say when I was a kid “Curiosity killed the cat but satisfaction brought him back”. I also have a mainly white cat with orange makings he is Turkish Van. Gus is four years old with a very cranky old man attitude. No paper bag, box or flower pot is allowed unless it has been inspected.😾 Always enjoy seeing Smokey.🦘🇦🇺

I think the spoon is 100% okay. Wash and rinse with dish detergent and set in the sun.

I bought a whole bunch of feather pillows at Goodwill. I threw the covers away and took the pillows to the laundry mat, and washed them all at one time. I made bed pillow covers and decorative covers. I love feather pillows!!!!!

I recently picked up several wooden spoons etc to put in a small crock in my kitchen for decorations (a primitive look). Also let my hubby know was for decoration & reminded him that I have plastic & stainless steel ones in a kitchen drawr for using. :)

I say decorate your home the way you want to make your family comfortable. Love your decor style Sarah. YES, certain things I bring home from Thrifting, I spray with Lysol and let it sit out. As far as that spoon is concerned, I would let it sit in hot water, then put it in the dishwasher. Why waste perfectly good wood and it will not scratch your kitchenware that you cook in. Our Earth has too much discard as you already know; and I would pray over it. I hope you share your Thanksgiving Menu with us and what you plan to cook for the Holidays. STTB

I'm not sure about the spoon, but I've bought feather down inserts, washed & dried them and they come out absolutely fine! I always use a bit of bleach in the wash to disinfect. Love Vivian's art!

Buy new pillow covers to put your thrifted inserts in.. even if you have to make a few modifications, it’s very inexpensive.

I change out all my pillows to feather pillows….no foam pillows in my house!!

Absolutely use the spoon. I’ve bought several wooden spoons and used them. I wouldn’t put wood in the dishwasher ever. It can ruin the wood. Just wash it in hot soapy water and rinse using hot water. You’ll want to use food safe oil on it too. Great finds!

I would put a big pot of water on to boil and let the spoon sit in the boiling water for 5-10 minutes.

Do not wash wood in the dishwasher,I thrift a lot of wooden spoons and vintage wood boards. Wash them, and dry them and they are just fine.

I would only use the spoon for kitchen decor, but i wouldn't use the cushion insert either. Just too many nasties out there. I absolutely love your videos as well as your beautiful home.
