Treating a Bark River Bushcraft Scout Sheath

Жыл бұрынWe put 3 coats of Obenaufs on my Bark River Bushcraft Scout Sheath in a 2 day period. It completely transformed the sheath and will extend the life of it greatly.

Why was that one so much darker though? One extra coat almost makes it black?

Looks to be a different grade of leather than the others, got very dark after 2nd coat.

If he lets that Scout sheath dry out, it will lighten up in color. I usually leather dye these super dry sheaths, wait a few hrs, & then toss it into a ziploc bag filled with neetsfoot oil. I leave it swimming in oil for 8hrs. Take it out, wipe & there I have a beautiful deep red/brown soft sheath. Cordova red is the dye color that turns these BR sheaths a rich dark brown.
