This was an adventure. 🫣

A huge thanks to everyone who prayed for my flock when I asked for it. There were 5 girls in pretty rough shape.
.
Everyone is back up on their feet. Chicken feed has a ton of stuff in it that is not great for sheep in such quantity, so we were dealing with toxicity issues as well.
.
2 ewes are still droopy, but still alive.
.
Praying for 100% recovery. 🙏🏻

One of our sheep maybe ate a cup or two of chicken scratch we set out for the wild ducks (we never fed the sheep or other large livestock any grain). We asked the vet's office and they dismissed our concerns the first time. Called again after a day or two and the vet said to give the sheep a cup of Pepto Bismol. We did so but by then it was too late and the sheep passed away shortly thereafter... Another use for a turkey baster (or even eyedropper for small birds). Phew, that's a lot of grain! Glad the baking soda mix worked out.

Good save. You caught that ewe fine, but if you end up crook shopping I just got a kiwi crook which I’ve wanted for like 5 years and it’s excellent.

Can't keep them in, can't keep them out! Dang ole sheep lol Great remedy! Gets that acid down and moves it all out.

I'm honestly surprised that ruminate, given that they chew cud, don't just upchuck it all, when they get to feeling bad. You would think they would have figured it out by now!

We had a ewe called Blossom, she broke into our feed room & ate a 20kg bag of layers pellets. She didn't get bloat, but suffered a bad case of acidosis. We gave her a whole jar of Marmite, the B12 got her rumin going again. Best way to give it is smear it on the tongue or roof of the mouth in several doses. Works every time!!! Messy, but effective!!!

Baking Soda is Sodium Bicarbonate & it immediately neutralize the rumen acid # 👍👍

So helpful. I have a ewe with 6wk old lambs on her. She’s bloated. Have this treatment. Washed off the diarrhea, provided water with a touch of molasses and electrolytes. QUESTION: how often should I drench her?

Up to twice a day! But mine did fine with just one treatment.

So last year our son wanted to show his cousin the sheep we were about to show at fair. 2 days before shoe he leaves the gate open and they get into the chicken grain and gorge themselves. All three get wicked diarrhea and lost weight obviously just before show! Market lamb, yearling ewe, and mature ewe. What a mess and a big lesson!
