Can someone explain the location? I've been to many All-State performances in my own state - never saw anything as creative as this, in terms of venue.

It's the Embassy Suites Convention Center in downtown Denver. Rehearsals are held there and the balcony sing is a tradition every year. The balconies are basically hallways for the hotel rooms.
