Mobile hunting is all the rage these days, but if you're like us, you probably have more than your fair share of bulky, heavy, noisy old tree stands that you just don't want to strap to your back and head to the woods for a hang and hunt. Well, we have a simple TREE STAND HACK to help you continue to utilize those old stands in more permanent locations. Check it out!

Nice tip. Just so you know HAWK has a bracket system where you can add/remove stands. Great for moving stands quickly and quietly. Also I still use those screw in pegs for public land hunting. Cheers!

Probably the best trick I’ve seen for holding the stand while trying to tighten it.!

I do something similar but use a small paracord loop that I hook to the screw-in peg and stand. Then I can cut the paracord and remove the screw in peg/hook after the stand is hung. The metal-on-metal contact between the peg and stand will create noise with any movement in that stand. Doing it with a smaller accessory hook and the paracord eliminates that.

I do somethhing similar but slightly different. Just hung a stand this way this morning. I use the same screw in step as you, but dont screw it in as far. Just enough, so it will support the weight of the stand. Once i have the strap around the tree and connected, I remove the screw in step.

Nice! That’ll work too! We’ve also done that and is honestly probably the better option. Good luck hunting this fall!

If you flip the step upside down and run a rope over it you can go to the ground and pull the rope like a pulley, raising the stand by the seat directly into place. Tie off the bottom and strap it on. For those super heavy, but super comfortable lounge style lock ons.

On public land, we are not allowed to pierce the bark of the tree. What does work for us, and we have some stands that weigh in excess of 30lbs. Tie a loop around the upright on the stand, just below or above the deck supports. At the height you want the stand in the tree, tie a rope around the tree, put a clevis or caribeener on it. Pull the stand up and hook the rope you tied on the stand to attach to the clevis or caribener. We have done this for the last 10 years. If works so well. My 15 year old son can even hang a stand this way.

All that’s good but I use a ratchet strap with the pull strap and a second ratchet strap on the bottom I never trust just the pull strap

For Me it's easier to tighten the stand strap if you make sure the adjustment buckle is on the same side you are. That way you don't have to reach around the tree or stand to tighten it. Much easier to secure the stand IMHO.
@TheVenariEffect
@TheVenariEffect 3 жыл бұрын
It would certainly be easier to do it that way. For this video, we just worked with the stands we already had in the tree and unfortunately, the strap on this particular stand only had a hook on the other side. The side closest to us was pre-packaged from the factory with the strap sewn around the stand. We're curious, do you trust the single strap that comes with the stands or do you like to put an additional strap on for extra security? Thanks for watching and best of luck this season!

Got ya on the pre-attached strap and it's location. A lot of the time (depends on the stand and attachment system) I swap things around so I can have the adjustment buckle on my side of the tree. I also always use a second strap down towards the base of the stand just in case.

Bro.. Was just thinking about trashing (or giving away) a stand like that, that I hate hanging & strictly using my lone wolf because i can hang brackets for it!! Thank you!

Why not put the tightening side of strap on your side instead of reaching around it to tighten 🤔

Surprisingly it doesn’t make too much noise. But we mostly use this method for more permanent sets, so we’re not necessarily trying to be super stealthy when we hang them.

What sticks are those?
@TheVenariEffect
@TheVenariEffect 3 жыл бұрын
We honestly don't remember the brand. Picked them up at Menards several years ago. It was a 4 pack and each stick got progressively bigger so they would stack inside each other. Probably the first real stab at a mobile set of sticks that you could strap to a stand.

Those would be a Menards special from several years back. We haven't been able to find them in our local store for the past 4 or 5 years. Not sure what brand they are though.

@@TheVenariEffect I have a lot of private land permanent stands and I’m looking for a ladder type of sticks do you have any recommendations?
@TheVenariEffect

We've tried all different brands and we have tried the cheap stuff and the expensive ones. Sometimes the ones we used in this video, especially when it gets cold, can creek and crack as you climb and we don't really like that. We've had good luck with the Primal Vantage Fast Sticks: www.dunhamssports.com/product/3_piece_fast_sticks/W0000073325.html?cgid=00164#prefn1=storeExclusivity0&prefv1=ALL%7C103&srule=price-low-to-high&sz=58&start=22
