My issue isn’t nearly as hard as some others have it so I don’t wanna play the victim or anything. But as corny as it is the random kindness of strangers does mean something. I have the same problem never used to make me feel like this .was clean for 10 years started doing it again and have started feeling like I'm having. Heart attack . Think right that's it no more but the cravings just to much . And end up having another pipe and the whole thing repeats all over again. The only way I can avoid this is by not having that first pipe but it's very hard . It's been 24 hours so far and I'm set herd with £300 burmi g a whole in my pocket

I can vouch that crack is heavily addictive. Im 52, I am from Scotland- Generation X and a old school raver and was part of the counter culture. I and the majority of my friends who perviosly only used alcohol and perhaps hash through the onset of the Acid House and Rave scene were introduced to Speed, LSD & Ecstasy and I personally took to it like a duck to water. I suppose this is the gateway drugs effect as drug use became normalised. I was certainly open to experimentation. I found Heroin in the late 90’s and over a period of years of recreational use and after s traumatic event I began to use more heroin leading to a severe habit until I sought help and became completely drug free for the first time in my adult life. Recently after the loss of my Mother and the decline of my Father I found myself looking for a release. I used powdered Coke irregularly which was perfect until I was asked If i would like to try Rock- its just coke you smoke- that was one month ago today. Things have gotten out of control very fast. Im waiting to see my key worker on Monday- this will I am sure come as a surprise to him as Ive never handed in a dirty sample. I never thought id be in this position again- really thought i knew better. Crack is a lot different to powder coke. The hit is so intense and its heavily depressing anxiety producing fear when your stash is getting low- you never have enough. The mental effects when you run out are crippling. Its not just coke you smoke -coke is a confidence lifting more mellow more sociable high- crack is not that at all- more, more i want more. Wish i had thought about that first pipe. Wish id never lit it up.

If you love her which I know you still do never give up on her. Crack addiction takes time to recover from more than any other drug around it's fuled by depression and self pity but knowing someone truly loves you and is by your side helps more than you think.

You can get off it! 5 years of a better life, here. Well, at least 3 1/2…the first couple years can be brutal because the brain takes time to heal but it’s so worth it. If I can do it, I swear you can. I was in the streets getting into cars with strangers all day…believe me, no one was placing any bets that I would recover. Life is so much better now there’s no comparison. It’s hard to find a good place with people who understand. It took me 5 treatment centers…keep seeking! It’s no joke how they’re putting fentanyl in even cocaine and meth now. 5 people recently OD’d on ISO, where I live. It’s another opiate that’s much stronger than fentanyl, even. I have been in the position of your boyfriend. When I realized how much I hurt her over time, and that she STILL put up with it and never left me, I knew I HAD to let the bottle down (we smoke crack in water bottles here) and become the best I could only for her. Not for one second did I think that I quit for me, I would've never quit for me, and regardless of how much it hurt me to no longer get high, all it took from her was a "look at what you've done to us..." For me to reflect honestly and quit. I guess that at the end of the day her mental wellbeing was a bigger priority for me than getting high, and the thought of losing her kept me clean. I'm almost 4 years clean of any cocaine use, and I just smoke pot occasionally. I'm still with her and getting happier by the day, but it's still a struggle. If you think he does care about you, try sitting him down when he's off a binge and let him know how you feel again and again, as many times as it takes. If he doesn't care about you just leave him IMMEDIATELY. Crack is not a joke and someone will end up killed or in jail.

I remember that, too. Addiction changes the brain. The midbrain (ancient part of the brain) mistakes the drug for something you need to survive. A long time ago, survival related behavior (finding a partner, catching game, finding warmth, eating, drinking water) produced the most dopamine. The midbrain signals you to repeat any activity that releases a lot of dopamine. The midbrain is literally telling you that crack is the most important thing for survival. It is older than your prefrontal cortex, so it’s stronger. The prefrontal cortex is where your moral reasoning and rational decision making takes place. The midbrain reroutes your circuitry, creating a bypass around the prefrontal cortex, because it thinks there is a survival emergency (as per Maslow’s hierarchy of needs). I spent years in the same predicament and also kept forgetting I needed to quit until I was court ordered, but my record is still ruined and I couldn’t go back to my career, so I’m studying addiction in a Master’s program now. You’ll find the brain scans and further info in Addiction Neurobiology, but it has to be a recent source. I also found out it takes 1-3 years for the brain to heal, which is why we are triggered to relapse in early recovery. 5 years later, it’s so worth it, man. Hope this helps!

Talk to your partner. Let him know that this habit is affecting your life negatively. Let him know that it's gradually ruining you guys as a couple. Let him see that the disadvantage outweighs the brief spell of pleasure.

Dangerous.. absolutely.. it will make you lie and do things you NEVER thought you'd do.. all to chase that feeling you get from the 1st hit you do (which you'll never get again).. you'll put yourself and the people you love/care about in situations you would never do under normal circumstances. As for ruining your life forever.. it depends.. and that's the most honest answer I can give you. Say you're with someone who dies.. ex: heart attack.. does a robbery and shoots someone...a child finds your stash and overdoses.. all of those events might ruin your life forever. But, if you try it, realize all the trouble it can cause and the dark places it can take you and you make the decision to walk away.. consider yourself lucky in that you have learned a VALUABLE life lesson that you were able to walk away from, and if you can share your experience and save someone else.. even better. This is just my honest opinion, hope it helps. 💜✌️

Yes. Edit - it’s very much a possibility but not inevitable. It’s just that your playing with fire and you might not be able to put it out. First you will dabble, feel like your better than ppl who lose control, then you dabble some more and start rationalizing everything and believing your own lies to yourself and then eventually you realize you have a problem. This doesn’t happen for everyone but it’s a very real possibility and happens without you realizing it.

@@Tracy_Burns well said. Some drugs don’t just change your behaviour temporarily but change how you perceive reality. It’s like when a drunk person thinks their being smooth and cool but in reality ppl see you as behaving in an opposite manner. Not to minimize things but I almost laugh when I thought I was a smooth operator and I was functioning fine at work without sleep when I was on binges but it all catches up and once you come to your senses weeks if not months afterwards you look back and see things for what they were and what was actually happening. But at the time when you high or addicted you don’t see reality the same because your not seeing/thinking/feeling clearly.

Because cocaine is a salt form. When you cook it, you're getting rid of all the salt , creating a more undiluted form.

Cooking the cocaine hydrochloride (powder) will remove any additives it has been cut with. So the crack has a more concentrated levels. (I think, from research)

However, after turning the coca leaves into paste resulting to cocaine in it's purest form. Even then during the final process of pressing the paste into kilo bricks of powdered cocaine the Columbian cartel's even add a bit of cut to increase their profits. After that by the time the cocaine gets distributed from hand to hand before it ever gets to a customer let's say in the states. Those bricks of cocaine have been cut at least 10x. So you're never getting 100% pure powder cocaine. Yet, when you re-cook that same cut powder cocaine into crack you burn all the cut out of it to it's purest form again. For the most part crack will always be the purest form of cocaine you can get. But, you'll never get pure powdered cocaine unless you go to the jungles in Columbia yourself. I think after it's all said & done & the cocaine gets into the customers hands is what he meant by what's alternative is more pure.
