Had mine for over a year. I have went out with it 4 times and the only issue I had was when I first got it, it leaked in the back left corner but $9 worth of seam seal fixed that no issues since

Enjoyed this review. Looks a nice little tent. I do have a Lanshan1 pro, which is very similar to this tent. I will be really interested to see if you have or will be doing any follow up posts to this one!? Great post buddy! Take care.

Great video. You commented about the foot space - I think if you tied out the guy line on each side it would help. You could even use a stick to help elevate the foot area?

100% true... I forgot to pull them out in this video :) At 6'3" it is something that I notice, but not to a point where the tent is unusable. I have been using the trekker tent 1 a lot, and really like it. There are several videos of trips you can checkout where I am using it out in the field :)

It's seam taped on the inside but you should still seam seal the exterior since it's a hybrid single/double wall tent. Planing for us both to use ours for an upcoming AT section hike SOBO Caledonia to Shenandoah

Hey Wonderer do you like this tent better than the Ozarktrail one person you used last year thanks for the info and review
@RestlessWonderer
@RestlessWonderer 4 жыл бұрын
I do, and have been using it more lately. The Ozark Trail is easier to pitch, and has a little more room in the tent section, however the Trekker Tent 1 has a huge vestibule that I can heat water in, and it weighs less.

They list it as a 3 season tent. I think it would be fine in snow, and it actually has snow flaps that can tie up for ventilation.

would you call it waterproof right out of the box? I live in a super rainy country but I also like the design of this tent
@RestlessWonderer
@RestlessWonderer 3 жыл бұрын
I used it a few times before spraying it with waterproofing, and had no issues. The big issue with a single wall tent in that environment might also be condensation forming inside.

@@RestlessWonderer did you get any rain on your trip? any update? that seems to be the complaint with most of this company's products is the waterproofness. I am not concerned if it is seams that leak, since that just means it needs seam sealing, but if there are other issues (construction quality, fabric quality, design), it would be good to know. Did you have to deal with much condensation?
@RestlessWonderer
@RestlessWonderer 3 жыл бұрын
@@MBergyman I have used this in rain several times now with no issues other than the normal condensation that happens in a single wall tent. I did spray it down waterproofing which is something I do on all my tent. The seams came taped and seem to do a good job.

My complaint was that netting hanging in and touching my stuff. If I can figure out a solution for that I'd be happy with it. (I used mine on a backpacking trip a while back.) This was a good, informative video. 😯
@RestlessWonderer
@RestlessWonderer 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I just used mine last night in the Pike National Forest... vid should post today :) I agree 100% about the netting... when you sit up, there is no way to keep it off your back/side. Maybe they could put zippers on both sides, so you can pull them back when not needed.

Have you used a little buddy heater in that vestibule before? If so, how well does it heat up inside?
@RestlessWonderer
@RestlessWonderer 3 жыл бұрын
Not with this tent... I use the portable buddy heater in my larger cabin tent, and it works well. I cook and heat water in the vestibule, and that warms the whole tent up a lot as well.

@@RestlessWonderer Thanks. I like winter camping no matter how cold it gets. I have an ozark trail teepee tent and little buddy only brought 20 up to 30 lol. I might try it out in this if it’s below 20 but I’m just hoping the material can handle it if it’s too hot.

@@adam2084 Here is a video oh how I heat my Ozark Trail cabin tent... The biggest thing I have found is using a battery operated fan to blow the heat around the tent instead of letting it go straight up. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jphgjdGYsZ68d5c.html

My apologies for causing your channel to move to 4-digit # of subscribers. 😆 I've owned and used this tent for a couple of years. Even after seam sealing, it still leaks a little but not terrible. There's a simple trick to stop the majority (or all) leaking. I intend to shoot and post a video about that and several other little tips and tricks to make a pretty good tent even better. I do love my RCP Trekker 1!

I know what you mean... many tents are not made for taller folks. This one will be a squeeze... at 6:3, I am very close to the walls when I lay down, but it does work. Plus it is single wall, so there can be condensation as well. Have fun out there and stay safe!

How does this tent compare to the ozark trail backpacking tent?
@RestlessWonderer
@RestlessWonderer 4 жыл бұрын
Really good question. The Ozark Trail is simpler overall, and much easier to pitch. (6 stakes versus 9). I used that thing all last season and it is still good to go. The Trekker Tent seems to have better material and construction... plus it is half a pound lighter. It also has better ventilation than the Ozark Trail. Then there is the "Cool Factor" of having a trekking pole tarp tent that gives you more street cred from the start. I will be using the Trekker Tent this year on my solo trips.
