Join us as we start our first ever trekking experience through the Himalayas in Nepal on the Tamang cultural heritage trail! Our first day is filled with wonderful people and beautiful scenes! We start the day from Syabrubesi Nepal and head towards Gatlang. We hope to get a real glimpse at the traditional lifestyle and culture of the Tamang people - this trail hasn't been developed as much as the traditional hiking routes and is less popular with tourists. We get a lovely warm welcome by all the people we meet on the trail - especially the children in Gatlang! We stay at Paldor Peak Guest House where we try Dhindo, the local dish and learn some Tamang language.
00:00 Good morning from Syabrubesi Nepal

If you're new here - welcome and so we're happy to have ya here!! We are Lost In Transit aka Tom and Iz - we normally live in a Ford Transit Van and travel around Europe. We recently left our van in a Romanian airport car park and spontaneously booked flights to Nepal to backpack for a while! We are absolutely loving it here, it's incredible, subscribe and join us as we travel into the unknown!
We will be uploading more frequent videos during our time in Nepal so turn on notifications so you don't miss an update!
Who are we? 💁🏼‍♀️
We're Tom and Iz, a young couple from Cornwall, the UK, who live and travel full time in our van La Bamba. We decided to take a break from the van for a while and go backpacking! We love nature and try to spend as much time as possible wild swimming, hiking and being outdoors! 10 years ago we had a whirlwind summer romance, then went our separate ways to travel and go to university and fast forward 4 years later, we found ourselves back in the same place at the same time as each other and the rest is history. ✨

Love Nepal, the people are so hospitable & friendly. One thing I'd say in reference to hiring a guide/porter is , it does enable you to put back into the local economy. Plus , the guides have all the local knowledge. It's not a defeatist approach to use a porter v carrying your own rucksack , particularly if your're at high altitude. Not sure what altitude your hike is. Enjoy the adventure.
@LostInTransit
@LostInTransit Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I really agree. When we were in Kathmandu we met a lot of people who claimed to be porters and it never felt that genuine, but being out here in Langtang we have met a lot of porters and guides who are the most lovely people and are really from the area. I definitely feel differently about porters and guides since trekking here, I still think the stubborn me would not use a porter but I would be very open to getting a guide in future (we are quite tight on money this trip though)

I had just finished watching the previous two videos and was getting kind of restless for the third one and here it is...I am enjoying watching it with my dinner right now. It is another lovely video, every bit of it...and I totally feel you Tom what you said @6:20, mountains gave me a totally different energy as well, it is like being in another world and more importantly feeling alive, it's just you and the mountains and nothing else matters. I feel like I am travelling along with you guys, you both seem so genuine and passionate about what you do. Keep doing the videos, maybe stretch it up around 15 min (I know I am just getting greedy now ;)) CHEERS :)

My tip for sweaty shirts is carry a mininum of 3. Take it off when it sweats up and hang it on your bag. It will dry in no tim and put on your 2nd one. If that sweats up before the 1st one is dry put on your 3rd one.. Just keep repeating the cycle. Putting on a fresh top gives a new lease of life.

Agree, having porters carry your bags is wierd. Porters weren't well treated on the Hillary/Tenzing Everest climb. They did all the hard work, got little recognition and some had to sleep outside the tents,due to lack of space.

I noticed you removed the tuesday video and turned off the comments on the new one. Unfortunately in this day and age, becoming popular on YT (or everywhere) attracks trolls and haters an negativity in general. Please remember that receiving that kind of an audience only means that more and more people bother to watch - and I can assure you that for every hatefull commenter there are dozens of people who will enjoy your content. People watch for a reason. You bring something that, in my opinion, differentiates you from the majority off the other van life/travel channels. You guys are very pure an hounest, of which the 'leaches' vlog was just an example. Please do not let the negatives change your mental health, your dreams and the way you are (with eachother). It is none of our business anyway. It is your yourney, we're just tagging along and anybody who does not like it is free to watch something else.

Hi, What a great experience you are having. Lovely to see your joy and enthusiasm at being in the mountains and meeting such lovely people, are the Tamang people closest in ethnicity to the people of Tibet before they lost their independence? I love how you always learn some of the native language wherever you are, you are such a lovely couple. Take care and stay safe and don't forget about the altitude sickness. 😄🏔⛰xx

Yes exactly! The temang were originally from tibet but I think they moved over the mountains around 13th century. The language is still very similar to Tibetan as is their farming, religion and practices.
