Trello Is Always Better When You Use Email

Did you know that each Trello board has its own unique email address? It allows you to create new cards just by sending an email. It’s great for transforming valuable messages directly into Trello cards. And of course, you can also create new cards just by sending a quick email to your Trello address.
But that’s not all. Trello makes it super easy to reply to comments with your cards. If you receive notifications via email, you can reply directly to those comments without ever needing to open up Trello. Watch this video to learn how to use Trello and email to your advantage.

How have you used email and Trello to be more productive?

Hi Scott, in your video I see that you get an email as a reminder in Trello. How do you do that? I already have a 'Trello' agenda in my Google Calendar, but sometimes I would prefer an email as a reminder. Thanks a lot for your helpful videos. Since I discovered you I use Trello a lot. The best storage app for me is Evernote, but this is not so good as a project manager tool or a ToDo list.

You're most welcome, Christian. Thanks for watching and subscribing. To edit your email notification settings in Trello, go to your Profile Settings by selecting your name in the top right corner. Under Settings, you will see a section called Notifications where you can change the frequency.

That's a very good question. We should always be mindful of who we are sharing our information with. And of course you may want to be extra careful when forwarding emails to a board you share with others.

great video...thanks mate. quick query...in my trello board..i have a list called 'To Do' and in that list a card named 'Groceries'...the card just contains a check list of items to buy..say i have 4 items in that card at the mo...is there a way i can add a 5th item as check list in that card using this mail feature?

You can add a number of things to a card via email. But unfortunately, checklist items is not one of them. Sorry.

Great question, Josephine. If you’re using Chrome, Safari or Firefox, your browser can generate desktop notifications. To turn this on in Trello, go to your Account settings and select “Enable Desktop Notifications".

Can this reply email be done from outlook? How will it connect to trello?

Yes, regardless of the email client (Outlook, Gmail, etc.) the reply from within the email will be displayed as a comment in Trello.

why is there no option on your gmail Add-in to add an comment on a task? it does not give an option to search for boards or cards either. There is only a create task option on your gmail add-on :-(

Yes, this add-on is primarily designed for getting info into Trello. Then you can start to add more details once the card is created.

I agree the only work around I have found is to copy and paste the body of the email as a comment on the card. It is time consuming & not very slick. If you find a better way please let me know- Mike

Hi Scott, this video is very usefull, but I do not understand the second part from 6.00 min. How send me Trello this card in e-mail? I tried it but I did not receive it...

You will need to have notifications turned on in Trello in order to receive email updates. However, depending on your notification settings, you may not always receive every email. For example, if you have already opened that card in Trello (acknowledged the update), then Trello will not send you an additional email. You can find more details here: help.trello.com/article/793-receiving-trello-notifications
