TRENCH COATS - Cheap vs Expensive
It's spring and rainy season time in many places. This is a perfect opportunity to compare some trench coats and see what is out in the market. I'm gonna compare some cheap coats vs some mid range coats vs some expensive luxury coats and see what the differences are between them. I'm gonna look at the materials, look and feel, and quality of each trench coat and see if the price tag reflects the actual coat. Let me know your thoughts.

For petite women I would highly recommend the Burberry kids trench coat. I am about 5 foot 2, 53kg and I bought size 14 kids. I was actually looking to buy the adult one but they are all so long and big on the bottom half. The kids one is the perfect length and fit and 1/3 of the price. Has all the same details and materials as adult one☺️

The Burberry you tried is actually a seasonal Kensington piece with leather trimming and only comes in the extra long length. A Heritage Kensington is much shorter and has a similar length to the second trench you tried. Burberry offers different cuts and different lengths. Although I own more Kensington coats because that is the cut mostly used for their seasonal pieces, my favorite cuts are the Westminster and the Waterloo.

I have vintage a Burberry trench form a charity shop, my mom found it for me, it was so cheap i almost feel bad :)) i studied the labels extensively and I'm 99.99% sure it's authentic. I only had to have the sleeve lining repaired, otherwise it's in great condition.

Tommy Hilfiger heritage trench coat is one of my faves at the moment it light for spring or cooler summer days . But I also own a vintage single breasted navy Burberry trench i love in winter.

If I had the money I’d definitely go Burberry. Like she said being able to “hand it down for generations” is such a romantic idea. Makes me think of the final scene in Breakfast at Tiffany’s when she’s running through NYC in the rain. Guess I’m going to have to start a piggy bank! Love these types of videos. J Crew has a nice one and it’s wonderful. I also have a sag harbor one believe it or not from Sam’s club. That one has a good and I wear it on rainy days. It is black and I get tons of compliments on it because of how flattering it lays. My cousin has one from banana republic she liked. I think it was kinda light but it was cute.

Michael Kors has a beautiful tench that is flattering to our petite size. I’m 5’1” and the coat didn’t swallow me up the way most trench coats tend to do. The quality is obviously superb since it’s Michael Kors... of course!! The style of his coats are great, and would be great to pass down. I’ve already passed it down to my daughter, and she enjoys it just as much as I did.

I'm 5 feet, 112 pounds and 34 D. I have 3/4 length (petite XS) and full length (XS) trench coats from London Fog. They are in great quality and in great tone of color (Mine are Khaki). I am a happy camper after having many trench coats from other more expensive brands.

London Fog brought one in camel and black really like it; flows well and its heavy enough, fully lined. Also, brought them on sale, great price.

I'm on the same quest. I always thought I wanted a classic Burberry trench, and then I went to the store and tried them on and was not impressed with the fit or the fabric. I had a Banana Republic one that I hated because it leaned too pink, and a Zara one that looks good and is a good color, but the shoulder and armpit fit is tight. I'm currently curious about the Trench London coats, but I wish I could try them on in person before pulling the trigger.

I bought my navy Burberry trench coat 18 years ago and I live in Scotland so you KNOW I've had plenty of wear out of it. About 4 years ago I had the cuffs re-covered in a slightly darker gabardine fabric as one cuff was starting to fray a little, and the contrast - when you notice it - looks great. I usually end up having my sleeves shortened when I buy a coat or jacket but I don't hold onto the offcuts for re-covering cuffs: they will never be exactly the same colour as the coat more than a decade later when you want to recover. After the first 7 or 8 years, every now and then I had to re-stitch a button which was getting loose. I am looking to buy my next one shortly. I won't be getting rid of the existing one as there is nothing - repeat, NOTHING - wrong with it. It is as weatherproof and warm as the day I bought it and the lining is in perfect condition. Finally, in terms of styling, I fasten the belt at the back of like a gentleman's tie. It's more secure and I think it looks better - but that's a matter of taste. As I am only 5'3, I never fasten the belt in front - tends to looks frumpy. I want to look like a saucy little baggage, not a baggy little sausage. Nearly forgot: if you are petite, adjusting the sleeve straps nice and tight means you can push sleeves up your arm and they will stay there- instantly flattering for us wee lassies. I'm from Seattle, so I know raincoats! I have a Burberry, a Coach, and a London Fog. I seriously cannot tell you which one I love the most, which is probably why I have all three in my closet. They are three different lengths so there's that. But, mine have to have all the bells and whistles. If it's missing the back flap, the back pleat, the fancy buckles on the sleeves, or the epaulets, it's a no.

I personally like Londonfog the quality and inserts. Londonfog never disappoints I guess that's why the have been around longer than any of the coats she reviewed.

Sis banana republic has a nice. Bomb Trench! I’m 130, 5 ft. So you may like it. They make it in black and the traditional color. And it comes in petite. There are no buttons, but you won’t miss them, cause you can tie at the waist and stay closed in. It’s called soft trench for $229

I'm a spy so I need a good trench coat. You need a petite size, like me. What does a $2390 coat feel like on? The Orolay seems to be the best choice. My personal favorite trench coat is one I bought several years age out of the Coldwater Creek catalog. Love it. Good fit, looks good and has worn well

You’re so adorable, you reminded me of my daughter-in-law... They’re called, “Epaulet/*Epaulettes” *for plural. For some strange reason I remember reading the word “Epaulettes” in one of Jane Austen’s novels. Now this is going to drive me crazy until I remember which one. Because that was over 45 years ago! The strange “Strap” on the underside of the Collar on the Burberry Trench is called a “Throat Latch”. ♥️👍🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

It's real simple, for the best look, value and ware it's the vintage Burberry double breasted trench. You can;t beat them. They're just pure class.

I wonder how Everlane and Sezane's Scott cotton trench coat compare to Burberry? I'm thinking nothing compares to Burberry, but Sezane and Everlane offer 100% cotton ones that look pretty good and are more affordable.

The Orolay hands down was the best - Burberry way too expensive unless you lived in Washington state or San Francisco where you would wear it quite frequently. Forever looks like a bathrobe 😄. Of course, this IS just my opinion.

I’m in Minnesota and I haven’t seen anyone wear a trench coat in years. I feel like they’re good for people in more temperate climates. The temps in Minnesota are usually one extreme to the other so a trench coat doesn’t make sense for me.

I audibly gasped when you said that first one was $2390!! It looked really nice, but there is no way I'd ever pay that much for a coat. I really like the Orolay one, good price and looked really nice. You could probably have a tailor add a slit in the back since there is a seam there already, shouldn't be too hard.

It's a shame that you pay more than 2000 bucks for a coat and still get polyester in it which is a cheap ass fabric and pollutes the environment. What's 'luxurious' in that ?

Would have tried these with a little heel or nice boot rather than jeans and white sneakers. A trench needs a little dressing up. The Burberry was stunning but a tad long.

How can a $2300 coat compare to a $9.00 coat, there is no comparison, personally I don’t think short people should wear long trench coats unless they have some kind of heel going on, they just made you look frumpy in all of them. Do you keep them all or send the ones back that your not going to wear, seems a waste of money otherwise.

Polyester trench? Yikes! Trenches must be cotton, cotton blend, or gabardine. Everything else isnt even relevant. Polyester ones are like comparing quartz to diamond.

I think all she meant was that it was an unusual choice to pair faded jeans and sneakers with a trench coat. A black dress or pencil skirt with high heeled boots would have resulted in a more elegant presentation. Especially with a long trench. If wearing pants, a street length trench would have been a more appropriate choice. Different lengths are made for different occasions but regardless, the ripped jeans and sneakers were distracting and not a good match for a such a luxury classic.
