Doesn't look like he has managed to develop as a midfielder. The forward and long passes look good. In truth every midfielder can make the passes that he did in this match. They don't because it is a real detriment to the teams control. In short if the person that defenders are passing to immediately goes long. The team is pushing forward without an advantage and the pressure on the wingers and strikers to outplay the man advantage is very high.

Will be exposed by the first top 15 team England play. Eng look slow and pedestrian with him in midfield, Wharton miles ahead, better defensively and quick interplay, but the masses will find out only when tournament is over. I like TAA but the fact is his passing was mostly shite until he moved across to the right in the second half and his general impact on the game was minimal. He was not alone in that, England were poor in the first half. He looked far more comfortable and natural as soon as he moved to the right side, after the subs. Until he's played consistently in CM for Liverpool, I can't see the justification for him taking an international spot ahead of more natural CMs. My opinion, I'm sure many won't agree.
