Rugged FIRE BOOTS Are Turned Into DRESS BOOTS | Our MOST Extreme Makeover YET

This was one of our craziest makeover projects yet! We received this pair of Nicks Boots a couple of weeks ago. The gentleman that owns these boots used them as intended...in forest fires. These boots were rugged, dirty, and what was the request sent to us? Please try to make these into a dress boot. It wasn't easy, but we did everything we could, in the limited amount of time we had, to transition these boots from rugged and beat up to cleaned up and WOW! Time for another restoration!

No water shortage where you guys are apparently. 😂 Next time run the water a few minutes before you begin to soap the boots and a few minutes after you’re done, just for good measure. I type this as I look at the reservoir down below my house dry out as we hope for heavy snow this year.

I think that was a fantastic job of craftsmanship. To take a pair of boots that a man has trusted his life to, been a part of many experiences no doubt, and turn them into a fantastic looking everyday boot is just priceless. The uncompromising construction of Nick's boots, the undoubtedly amazing fit after all the wear, and the superb look that you guys gifted them with...I'm stunned into redundancy. Those are fantastic. The skill and knowledge is there but why in hell anyone would spend this much to get a dress boot of out these I do not get. Just buy a nice pair and have your boots for hiking and dirty play. I don't get it unless you carried your buddy thru a bloody war and it's a sentimental thing you have to have these boots go be dress boots. Insanity. More money than I have and I am not jealous, just if I was a billionaire I would do the same.

I love your content and the interaction you have with [and I’m guessing here] your brother and I’ve already watched about 20 episodes. One thing I would like to see is, bigger, better and longer money shots (sounds like a commercial for Extends😜). Of course the before and afters are what we look forward to, kinda like dessert following a good meal but you guys only give us a tease of your handy work. Maybe that’s by design but I sure would like to see more of the finished product. Keep up the awesome work fellas!!

I believe the term "clinch" might make it a little easier to envision. As the point of the nail impacts the metal plate, it makes a "U-turn" and drives back into the leather ("clinching" itself to the leather).

Say it with me, "a RAPID Blake stitch construction!" :) Hey, whilst I have all the experts here, is Rapid Blake superior to Goodyear? It seems to be the most robust (having a whole midsole as a welt).
@TrentonHeath
@TrentonHeath 3 жыл бұрын
Most blake rapids use the midsole as the welt, where we added a separate welt attached to the upper. The insole stitching was not required where it is on BR. Just as Nicks insole stitches, but also outsole stitches. Theirs is a stitchdown and not a BR. This was a hybrid between all three construction methods.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this build! I'd suggest something like this to be done in a two-part video. This is very cool. A great way to retire some hard working foot gear, to do an ultimate recycle of a product, and to preserve memories to be shared in later years. BTW, Preston (Elegant Oxford) recently let out of the bag that he's finding good results by filling the pores of the leather first, with Mirror Gloss, and then finishing the mirror shine with Medaille D'or. The softer MD (with more solvents) seems to respond better to the water/alcohol solution he uses, to bring out the gloss faster. Makes sense, gonna see how that works next time I get motivated to be serious about a shine.

Y'all are unbelievable! I'm pretty much obsessed. I have four sons, 16-23 and they are just starting careers and/or interviewing or just plain old growing out of dress shoes at an alarming rate. My oldest asked me about polishing a pair for a final interview that were in bad shape. They've been in his closet since he wore them to prom almost 5 years ago. Caught him on snap chat with his younger brother whose a Marine getting tips on polishing them. In my world Mama's supposed to have all the answers so your clips are giving me a hand up! Thank you for that. Maybe next time you can teach me how to tie a tie. 🤣😂🤣 Y'all are great!

Awesome job! Works of art. I am patiently awaiting my Nicks/Rose Anvil ND1 boots in Oct. I love Nick's, your channel and Rose Anvils channel also. My great grandfather, a Holocaust survivor was a cobbler, I'm getting into leather work as a homage to him.

Awesome job, I would love to have a daily use boot that was built that well and was comfortable durable that I could wear without fear of them tearing up for 20 years not for work but a little work wouldn’t scare me because I knew how well they were made! You guys are awesome, love to watch the magic you work on boots! I think most of your reworks look better than the boots did originally. This project was a great example. God bless and continued success!

I cannot believe that I have, not one, but two cobbler bloggers/vloggers/internet film makers, on my subscribed list !! I just find that watching people using dying trades, absolutely fascinating. Thank you so much for sharing your trade with us.
