Heard this joint on the radio while driving to my family dinner. When I got back in my car to drive home, I continuously flipped through the radio for an hour straight trying to find this song again. Then I got home, started googling and searching YT, but I couldn’t remember the damn hook or any lines from the verses. I spent two hours looking at charting artists and still couldn’t figure it out. Finally, I walked back in after a refreshing late night breathe of fresh air (if you know what I mean) and then it fucking hit me! All of a sudden, I could hear both the original song’s hook, “Do you think I’m better off alone?” and Trevor’s hook, “I think I’m better off alone” and I was finally at peace. I used to dabble with some audio production, performing, touring, etc, and I can’t help but think that this checks all the boxes for a perfect pop song. The instrumental, his voice, the lyrics, an infectious pre chorus and hook, bridges, breakdowns, the perfect mix and mastering…everything comes together resulting in pure aural pleasure aka crack for your ears and heart. This is one of the coolest Sample Songs I’ve ever heard. Better off Alone has always been one of my favorite songs from the 90s and I think it’s so genius he answered the question of that song with “Ya I think I’m better off alone” ...there’s so many songs about love and finding that special someone but I love when I hear a song that actually celebrates being single and being happy with it.
