Yes. Other people around the world, if given money and a cushy life full of celebrity, would absolutely be corrupt. They're corrupt when their freedom and lives depend on being truthful. Don't kid yourselves. We are all trash for a few bucks. Journalists do what we want. We want reinforcement of our beliefs... $$$$$$$

His ending challenge was a beautiful invitation to consider their ways and the gift of freedom and responsibility they have. Sadly, I felt their standing ovation was to themselves. I could be wrong, but that's how it felt to me.

So I went through the comment section and read over a thousand comments no cap... I was moved to tears because looking back, who would have thought a kid who was born in "apartheid South Africa" would attain this height and level of greatness. Think about it. What were the odds? He really has come so far and being an African myself from Nigeria I'm very proud of Trevor Noah, not just as an African but as a human being who admires and appreciate the works of a fellow human and giving that person their flowers. Trevor has really showed us that with talent , hard work and grace we can achieve anything. This man has talents far beyond comedy. A true role model

Anyone who can masterfully maneuver through the political and media pundits minefields by purposefully STOMPING on land mines and come out unscathed is a pure master at his art. It takes a smart yet depressed soul to make us laugh at US. Trevor is a treasure. Top notch classy comedian with a political flare. Pithy. Can’t wait to catch his stand up act.

So amazed and happy that Trevor has done such a brilliant job in a very difficult performance/speech and an incredibly difficult time in American history. As a South African, I am proud of having someone like him to represent the thinking of our New South Africa as well as an understanding of the US and humanity at large!! So witty and true we didn't even catch breath soon enough to laugh before the next sharp, clever quip!! Well done Trevor!

I'm very proud of Trevor Noah. I'm his biggest fan from Botswana 🇧🇼. Started to watch him through KZfaq in 2013 while doing my degree at University of Botswana. At the time I was going through a difficult phase of my life. His KZfaq comedy videos kept me sane and healed me completely. His wit, humor and intellect always baffled me. He is simply amazing. His performance at Correspondence dinner is the pinnacle of his hard work, humanity and resilient spirit. I love you Trevor!!! My brother from anada mother!

Trevor, who i came to love for the bite of his humor on the daily show, is so very deeply informed, genuinely interested, prolific in his content creation, and i have to think,, he must have written this himself. It bears the indelible stamp of his sardonic wit. He's immensely talented, and he helped reshape the daily into the most relevant, intellectual, honest politi-com on the web. Edit: notice also-- Trevor has his material memorized quite well. Every other host delivers their speech looking down constantly at the lectern, reading it off the page. This is the best delivery I've seen yet.

That ‘coloured’ thing is only used in South Africa; and I do not say call yourself black because I know you are biracial; but given South Africa’s history on race relations anything classified as this or that by that government, to me at least, to be stamen with pinch of salt. It was all just their evil ‘divide and conquer’ strategy where they made sure they can suppress natives, for as long as they crash the populace into little splints with their little different tittles. I believe society makes man, and Trevor unlike most ‘coloureds’ of SA is 50% black and 50% white. He knows nothing about the ‘coloured’ way of life and culture because he was raised black by his black mom in a black township of Soweto amongst blacks, and that’s what moulded him into what he is; his accent, languages he speaks, customs and everything else…his entire life has been Xhosa/Sowetan so I don’t think claiming him as ‘coloured’ in the racist South African context makes sense because the question would be what about him is ‘SA coloured’ besides his skin tone??? The guy doesn’t really identify himself as such, he does point out though that in the South African context he is classified as such! The one thing I usually around my ‘coloured’ friends is wait for them to identify themselves as this or that and then I will also identify them as such! I never immediately call a person coloured because it’s uncomfortable for me to choose for someone that has a choice, so as. general rule I don’t call anyone coloured until they call themselves coloured. SA coloureds as you’d know have groups amongst them that call themselves hottentots and since the land issue many claim they’re Khoisan…which of course makes sense, given the history of the country; but also…having lived in Namibia I have had the privilege of meeting actually Khoi people and though they look ‘biracial’ many have no white ancestors. They’re simply just very light in complexion. It goes without saying that even in SA many dumped the Khoisan tag long ago and identified as coloured in order to benefit or survive apartheid. This is not how people like Trevor and Obama came into existence. They are biracial and SA ‘coloureds’ are not necessarily of biracial descent…many of them are, but many amongst them are also just Khoisan with light skins. We saw this during consultations on land redistribution debates! He may look coloured since he is biracial, but the SA ‘coloured’ population as defined by apartheid regime is a bigger mixed bag than simply black and white parents!

The best host I think I've seen. I've enjoyed quite a lot of them. But Trevor seemed to manage to tease as opposed to hurt. Somehow he got the same points across without seeming to be mean. Except maybe to the Coumo family. Even then it could have been worse. He did his job incredibly well.
