I was abandoned by my dad at age 7. We didn't know why he left so abruptly until we learned he was cheating on my mom, and he abandoned us in order to raise the son he had with his mistress, whom he married shortly after his divorce to my mom was finalized. Dad always wanted a son, but my birth had complications and mom had to get a hysterectomy. Last I heard, he's had two more sons since then with the same woman, and they're all living happily together in another state. According to his Facebook page, he loves those boys more than he ever loved me. I honestly doubt at this point that he even remembers I exist. If the love you're willing to give your child depends entirely on its gender, you don't deserve to be a father.

As a girl who grew up with a father that always begged for a boy, it hurts...really bad. I'm not saying it's particularly bad to want a specific gender or that a parent should be hated for it, but I know how bad it can make the child feel. I understand that most dads will come to love their daughters once she's born, but I do urge that they take a step back and just appreciate the gift they are given. For me, I found myself very uncomfortable with being a girl for a long time, and it was not easy to come to terms with the way I was because I always knew that my dad didn't want a daughter, and that I would never be good enough for him. At the end of the day, take a step back and don't think too much about what you will have because gender won't completely determine personality. If you wanted to play sports with a boy, play with your girl like so, introduce her to things that excite you so that it may open her eyes to it, and you may find out you have more in common than you know. The same would apply for a boy. A child is neither the mother nor father, but their own person. Everyone has their own problems and hardships, so you never know what you may experience while rasing either gender. If I have a child, I know it doesn't matter to me what gender they are, as long as they live a happy and healthy life. But anyway, good video.

My brother wanted a boy so bad when his wife got pregnant, and when they found out they were having a girl, you could see his disappointment. She's six now and he loves her so much, they do everything together, and he even says he hopes his next one is a girl lol I think once you actually meet the baby, boy/girl goes out the window and they're just your child
