As a cowboys fan, this is why I respect 49ers fans way more than eagles fans. 49ers fans will talk shit but at least they’re qualified to and can and can be rational to evaluating players. Eagles fans are pretending they’re the cowboys with a big spending GM but don’t have the history or hardware to back it up. But Lance will definitely be buried on the list of storylines Dallas has. I will say Purdy or darnold didn’t scare me as a cowboys fan when they play again, it was the potential of Lance. Now not having him, I think SF will regret it as the season goes on

He attacks the intermediate and deep middle of the field, which is something most young QBs (and a lot of older ones) simply don’t do. I called this earlier before they even announced they were putting him up for trade. my exact words were "if they can get a guy like trey for cheap then they should 100% do it" took a nap and woke back up to "trey lance to the cowboys". I was like hell yeah man. got a #3 overall QB who can sit for as long as you need him to. Dak is my guy and is the guy for sure but having a real talent behind Dak is great as an insurance policy. Daks snapped ankle reminded me of that a few years back. like I said I don't want Dak to go anywhere. he wins a whole lot of games and puts up a damn good statline. but having the next man up be as talented as trey for cheap is a huge win.

Trey is an interesting developmental prospect. He is raw and needs to play. These are highlights. The lowlights have been many obviously but its worth it on a losing team or in xfl not so sure about him on the bench, he needs to be practicing a lot for a good while to get his game together. His short and intermediate passes and decision making were what sent him packing. He is also functionally mobile and little more. Inj history but upside he is 23 with a live arm. Think more of Zak Wilson than anyone else.

Niner fan here. I'm sad we did this but it's better for Trey. Niners shouldn't have traded for him like that and then not let him play but I understand why; just not the right fit for a team trying to win it all now which makes you question if this is actually any better but they got him for cheap. Regardless, he needs reps. Good processing, great arm, humble, hard working, athletic, smart, good character but just needs to get enough muscle memory to know what he can and can't do in the NFL in terms of beating defensive speed at this level and his confidence will show and translate on the field better and faster but he needs somewhere he can just get reps and the team can grow with him (Browns? Colts? Commanders?). Dallas is too loaded to run on a flyer but maybe Lance can be to Dallas what Purdy is to us; no expectation and circumstance gives the guy a chance to shine? Who knows... This also puts some pressure on Dak. Those who hate on Trey just like to talk. He's truly an unknown potential and his strong work ethic and ability to bounce back and learn from his mistakes makes him have a high ceiling but his floor is low because he'll make mistakes (ie miss "gimme" short throws that make you scratch your head but just can't be had in the NFL) from just not playing much. He needs to have a chance to shake of rust, nerves, etc and see what he can do and based on what I've seen he's quite capable but today there's just no patience and one needs a bit of luck and good circumstances favorable to them. SF is a good place to be but not for a QB this raw. Had he played more in college it would have accelerated his growth but he needs time to grow here and now in the NFL and I'm not sure if he'll truly get that opportunity ever if at all. If he does, I believe you have a gem. I have mixed feelings now for his development as I fn hate the cowboys. Best to you regardless Lance.

Let me ask you this.....why wasn't Trey available last year in Philly during the playoffs??? He was hurt....The year before that when the 9ers had a banged up Jimmy G playing the Rams in the playoffs, where was Trey??? On the sidelines hurt. It's a constant pattern with him, he can't play a game without getting injured which makes him no use for the team. Dallas is the most highly scruntanized team in the NFL....this is not a good set up plus Dallas back up qb went 5-1 when Dak got hurt, you think Trey is going to top that?
@justinsugay1149
@justinsugay1149 9 ай бұрын
@@itsintheword230 That may just be the case. Not arguing that Trey is the next anything. Just saying we don't know but those are valid points with regard to having a pattern of injury. You're likely right he won't top that. I'm hoping to get a chance to see somehow what his potential looks like. You can say that about any player but I'm more curious here because he shows a strong work ethic and the ability to bounce back. My question is how far can he bounce back if allowed to play throw his growing pains? How high of a ceiling can he get to show us? We're likely to never see that but I'm rooting for the guy. Best

Has strong potinetal, great pick up for Dallas but I really hope they develop him he has a great arm but his footwork is horrible reason why he has a longer throwing motion and the spin of the ball is off, but it’s fixable. That’s the way Romo

Old highlights. From a niners fan, he’s cleaned it up and has come a long way. What he does need to continue working on is nailing down the short throws. The rest mentality stuff will come from getting live reps, which is what he needs most.

Fixed the footwork this off-season. Still a bit of a wobble but the kid has a cannon. Shanahan is an absolute moron. Have with with Sam Darnold.

Niners game is short passing to TE and RB's, then setting up the long. Lance is just the reverse; a QB who tosses long and works in the short. His arm is long which is why he has trouble with the short game release, but when stretched out can make a terrific long pass. Its about working to his strengths and working on his weaknesses.

If the Eagles made this trade, the NFL Network would have a mini series all week on the genius of making this move. Dallas does it, and the pundits blast Dallas for giving up a 4th round pick, when SF gave up 3-#1's to draft him.
