*This makes my old motor look like a toy **enjoyable.fishing** recommend it's well built. I haven't had it on the water yet, but I'm very sure it will perform just fine.*

TIP: use a section of garden hose as a conduit for your fuel line when running it between the seat and hull. You can thank me when you're not stuck in the swamp with a leaking fuel line. Mud boats get a lot more vibration to wear any friction points along the fuel line.

nice setup,what I did to clean up my boat interior is get 3/4 inch pvc conduit and slide it in rib where you have your lines now.Put gas line inside one and battery cables inside toher one.

One thing I suggest is instead of the toggle switch for the auxiliary fuel pump run a wire to the ignition or kill switch so it turns on and off automatically with the motor

I would add a stiffener or two between transom and rear seat.. wood, aluminum, something... to distribute some of the torque forward into the hull..

Thanks for the vid bro. I have a 14x36 and I want to make a surface drive for it, this helped a lot. Cant go wrong with that 5200! I found an old boat on a levee with a tree growing through it. Once I cut the tree down and got all the snakes out of it, I patched it up with some cardboard and 5200. I threw a 25 on it and used that boat for four years with no leaks, before someone stole it.

Watch the ribs on the floor of that topper 14. I had the same boat & the floor flexes when going thru choppy water causing the floor to crack at the edges of those ribs. Look at the new topper 14. They realized they screwed up big time & decided to add solid ribs going across the floor & up the sides like every other Jon boat ever made. Just keep an eye out for that problem. My boat went to crap running just a 6.5hp on the SPS kit, I can only imagine what may happen with all that extra power of a 22hp. Good luck.

I would move battery over where the fuel tank is and move the fuel tank where the battery is. That way you don't have your main battery cable running right next to the fuel tank... Also I didn't see any fuse on the fuel pump... Or a circuit breaker on the main battery cables I would add that also... If your main battery cable gets shorted out you could have a huge fuel tank fire the way you have all this set up...

If you cut or break off a small pocket knife blade and then hose clamp it to the end of your long tail drive so that the tip of the broken blade is about a 1/16 to an 1/8th inch from touching your prop it will cut and chop all the weeds as the prop swings them by. I wrap the hose clamp in electrical tape. I tried this as a quick fix while fishing crawfish ponds and it worked so well that I never bothered to improve upon it. You could weld it or wire tie it or epoxy it for a more hydro dynamic flow but these things are so crude to start with and it works fine with this 5 minute fix. serrated blade was what i had on me and used. Broke the blade in a vise . The square flat broken tip lines up good at the leading edge of your prop and quickly shortens the pocket knife blade to a usable level. After you hit heavy weeds just raise your prop and rev it once. Weeds will still wrap your shaft in between your blade and shaft but wont matter much.

Great vid. Suggestions run your fuel line and power cables thru conduit doesn't have to be metal. Use a fuel and dielectric grease on as many electrical components as possible. Shrink fittings are great on your wires are good protection.

I've got this same engine setup on an alumnacraft 1540. You did good to run the 1/4" fuel line the full length... I've got a frankenhose with reduction barbs going from 3/8 to 5/16 to go into the fuel pump then out of the fuel pump through another reduction to 1/4 to connect to the engine The best thing I've done is fasten a PVC board floor on top of the ribs along with a grab bar... I feel much more comfortable moving around. I see other comments about the throttle... I've got my throttle screw turned all the way in so my full throttle is really about 60% throttle. I'm still out running the wake and by that point it seems like the more throttle you give is just louder, higher rpms, more vibration for minimal speed gains... I'm happy cruising 18-20 mph. I'm running the 9.5" prop primarily.

I got one in a tractor backhoe and it has been great so far, had to rework the exhaust because it pointed towards the ground and would blow dust and dirt in the air and the air filter would clog up quick, once I replaced the air filter and pointed exhaust out the side it has been great. Do you have a hydraulic oil cooler on your skid steer? I have one on my tractor but with no fan behind it I’m afraid it’s not doing much lol

Put your handle back on and drill a 1/4 inch hole through the handle grip and all. put a 1/4 stainless steel eyebolt through it with the eye on the bottom and an acorn nut on top. Now attach a piece of SS cable to your boat rib with a snap or carabiner on it to clip through the eyebolt to hold the engine out of the water. Once you're running just unsnap the leash and drop it in the floor. The handle won't come off anymore and you have both hands free to start the motor.
@akbuilder76262 жыл бұрын
You can seal that transom with Bondo fiberglass resin. It will make it waterproof if you cover every inch of the wood. Water just beads off of mine a year after sealing it.

I had a welding shop use aluminum to beef my transom up. Had them use a scrap piece of metal and put a 90 degree bend on top same thickness of the transom. This added some serious stiffening to the whole back end. Also had a thicker piece of aluminum plate on other side and bolted it thru with treated plywood in between. I did not know treated plywood is hard on aluminum?? My fishing boats had had marine grade plywood in them and I never noticed a problem. Might of been 1/4" thick? Should always try to use stainless steel around aluminum.
