Honestly Jared, this review style is not even that different to your main series videos. You're able to structure your thoughts coherently and avoid redundant phrasing (I love Scott the woz, but he could really improve here). The pace of the review is not ever lax or aimless. I don't know if you saved a lot of time compared to your normal videos but it really seems like there's a similar level of polish here. Nice work.

Why couldn’t the Secret of Mana remake be something like this?

I think my favorite part of Jared's reviews is that he's able to mention the flaws of games he loves and the strengths of games he doesn't. Too many reviews out there are painfully black and white - either "this game is good" or "this game sucks"

This new format is a great way to diversify your videos. They're easier to make, and I'm sure that there are, have been, or will be games that you want to talk about with a style like this, so it'll be exciting for all of us.

I do like this format more so for new games that you’re talking about. I still love the retro reviews and the style portrayed in those. Both are good and in all honesty fit the standard for both retro and new video games!

It's very obvious that the voice actors were given absolutely zero direction. I bet they were just given a text script and they probably never even got to see what the character they voiced even looked like.

More vids like this please. If it means more content on this channel I'm definitely happy. Not quite sure if this game looks great for me though.

Trials of Mana is a glowing achievement made with style and love like I haven’t seen in ages. From start to finish this slick, perfectly paced and executed game keeps you astonishingly entertained. I absolutely adore this game and give it the highest regards. For me this is a true 10/10 experience. PS: Charlotte is the best 🌸

This reminds me of the more modern Ys iterations, from Seven onward.

I loved the little details they added to make the world more immersive. Like seaside towns having seagulls and boat bells ringing. The windmills in the open field with birds flying around. Knights on patrol and in training, more townspeople to make the world feel alive. As a fan of the original game I was so happy they gave this game so much love. The way enemies react after being knocked back is the same. Tiny details like the flowers in the open fields, there's so many tiny details that remain faithful and it shows that they really jumped back to the original game. I really appreciated this game so much.

I like the new format, the casual aspect is nice. Also I think its a GREAT idea to review current games. Helps you stay relevant when people search new games. I really appreciate the channel, but the ONE thing I would say is I miss the cuts of you being silly in person, or showing your expression. That REALLY adds to your videos. Ya know, cuz we do like you haha. Keep killing it brotha and I'll be here for every video.

This game was just added to the PS+ lineup of games today, so I wanted to check out a review. Looks like a ton of fun! I also agree that a random-matched multiplayer for combat would have been awesome. If players are available, it could throw in a real player based on level and character lineup. Look man, we love you and your content. We love your typical reviews, we love that „Stream Highlights“ project you tried, we love your E3 and stuff discussion videos, we love your D&December videos, we love your 1 Interview video and of course we‘re gonna love those new, simpler review videos too. The more the better and it‘s a goid way of splitting up certain games you wish to review differently and not give every game the full 100% extreme super hard worked on Review. Just don‘t put straight up Let‘s plays on this channel man, keep them for ProJared Plays.

Very good review. If the game is too easy for some of you even on hard i recommend the hardest difficulty on NG+. It is very challenging. Missing just one more trophy killing Dragon Lord since i have completed everything else on 2 playthroughs to be 100% done with the game.

I really enjoy the background music, keep it up!

Suggestion! I feel like this style of video needs a consistent intro! A splash screen of Projared or something, nothing really flashy or intense or animated, but a quick thingy to give videos like this and future videos a sort of consistency!

I've been playing through this remake having no knowledge of the original, and I am loving it. (Also, if this video is a stream of consciousness thing, you're very good at it because it doesn't sound like that at all. You don't ummm or errr or anything and you get right to the point. Good job my man!)

I enjoy this a lot - there can never be enough people talking about new releases, and I love casual reviews like this to just have in the background to listen to. Both styles of videos are good, and I'm definitely not against having these in between the ones that require more effort!

The thumbnail makes Jared look like a frustrated parent who found their child’s Trial of Mana collection and doesn’t like it because it’s anime.

This is totaly a fine format Jared. I do prefer the old style, but that makes covering brand new games difficult. This works just perfectly for its role.

how can y'all still justify watching projared?

Aside from the lack of intro and outro (and the middle live action comedy bits), this review feels very similar to those retro reviews. The little skits do add some flavor to the retro reviews, but this style covers all the main points, and is still just as helpful. Definitely wouldn't mind seeing more of these!

I love the old format. But, as you say, this is a more casual way to talk about a game or some other things that you really like :D I know it's a bit too late for my opinion, but I'm really hoping that you keep your work the way you feel it better .

NO MULTIPLAYER!? Thanks for highlighting a major feature being missing, just saved me a nice chunk of dosh. My best friend is suffering since he's an extrovert in the quarantine so I've been helping him find cool stuff we can play together. We played the hell out of the translated rom for the SNES version and was going to get him this as a surprise gift. I may in the future considering the update, but now I know it's not worth full price if it's missing its best feature.

Hi Jared - I know this video is a year old, but I wanted to tell you that I liked the format of it. I thought it looked very professional, flowed well, and covered big ideas. I liked the gameplay footage you chose, especially from the SNES version since I never played it back then. While it definitely had a different feel and approach compared to your other videos, I think it worked well. Which do I prefer? Either, actually; I think both worked really well. Perhaps you could try some more videos in this format to see how it goes and get more data before asking us again at that time? Thanks for all you do and for letting us chime in here!

i love this RM so much, i beat it in a few days after it launched. then i beat it a second time with a different party a few days after that. i have yet to do a final run, but i have it planned out.

The team you chose was the team I chose in the original Trials of Mana, on Collection of Mana. I came across this team as suggested by a website to be the best and most broken team in the game, damage-wise

Love the new format for reviews as well! It's always nice getting some genuine thoughts on games, and are honestly probably easier to crank out inbetween bigger reviews. I was on the fence about getting this game initially cause of how ill received the Secret of Mana remake did, but this definitely sold me on it!

A turtle with goggles and a flag on its shell alone warrants this game a 9/10 at least.

Really liked this format for this video. You stayed on topic, weren't too terribly repetitive, and it was very informative. It seems like "modern" reviews like this and your "retro" reviews like usual would be cool to see side by side, especially since generally I want to see a modern review to know if I should buy and I want to see retro to see a game I probably never played in detail.

i would note that there is one thing missing from the Snes Version : the soul, the sprites were expressive, with different sprites when sleeping, pouting, sassing, being annoyed... they really emoted in trials switch, it feels like they wen lazy with it, the models are borderline expressionless, and lack in any sort of personality and emotional movement. the cutscenes are per moments lesser than even the Snes was, despite the graphical upgrade they also toned down some scenes, like when the koropokkle messes with you and your character outright draws their weapon on them out of outrage, only to get bodychecked out of the way before they strike, in the remake its just, a hand over them to stop them from doing, seemingly, nothing. i dunno, it just, feels so soulless compared to how much effort was in the sprite work on the Snes. its the constant nag i feel as i'm

I think having the stream of consciousness videos are really good to have between scripted videos because 1. It gives us more projared reviews to enjoy. And 2. It gives you a low effort way of getting thoughts out on a newer game you played. Keep these up I like em

I'm a big fan of these more casual videos. They still feel like "proper" reviews (if that makes sense) and they allow you to make videos about newer games a bit more quickly to add variety to your reviews. To me and probably a lot of other fans, it basically means more ProJared content, which is most definitely a good thing.

This reminds me of a more long form version of your old 1 minute reviews. I would love to see more of this format for newer games.

When you do another play through of ToM. Turn the voices off completely. For me, that actually made the game better because even in Japanese the voice acting felt over the top and there is just so much random banter at times. While no voices makes the cutscenes a little jarring because of the pacing, the voices off make the game felt like the true old school RPG. Plus doing the cutscene dialogue in your head is pretty fun.

If I ever play this game in full, I’m maining Angela and having the other two girls as the subs because hey it’s the closest we’ll probably get to a Sailor Moon RPG

I don't mind, and when it comes to the reviews, your opinions rank among the most down to earth with accessible points of view and understandable, well-explained subjectivity. Thanks to this review, I bought this game when it was on sale and I realy enjoied it! To be honest, I am glad that I didn't pay the full price, because it does not have some great story. But thanks to the gameplay and customatizations I had fun. Now I play it again on new game + to see all three endings, so right now I go through it the fastest I can.
