Rubber tyres on tarmac roads generate damaging airborne pollutants. BRT's ride quality is only as good as the road surface and skill of the driver. I have traveled on many BRT routes where the banging, bouncing and jerking made the ride unattractive. This makes standing very uncomfortable and dangerous, unlike light rail where passengers often chose to stand for convenience. BRT also takes up more space than light rail and carries fewer passengers. BRT is a "poor man's tramway" so don't let politicians hoodwink you to save money. Quality counts. Rails represent long term investment, not a quick fix with limited benefits.

this is a really good start especially bc so many cities the size of raleigh in NA have no rapid transit at all. BRT will allow buses downtown easily, and once commuter rail is in (possibly even 2 lines!) we’re going to be looking at a so much better city/region. we rlly do have an advantage w commuter rail bc the state owns the tracks

Mas o brt não só existe no brasil como foi inventado aqui, mas especialmente na cidade de Curitiba nos anos 90, hj já tem em várias capitais como goiania, bh, rio, belem, e muitas, muitas outras.

@@theventman9227 good for a city that size.also I reckon a monorail system could be a good compliment with Jakarta's size and population like in Japan.

@@theventman9227 that would be good.it would work very well in Jakarta.it just takes time,money and governance.it would compliment the system and make it even more effecient the bus way system.

If it runs in mixed traffic, it is NOT BRT. Why is this so hard to understand?

SOMETIMES it runs in mixed traffic when the main dedicated route is affected for whatever reason, be maybe it construction, repair, protests, etc. unlike rail which has to suspend its services if the main route is affected, making brt better then rail
