They say they care about the head, that it is sacrosanct, yet words alone come with longer AFL sanctions. I strongly agree with your sentiment. They want to appear virtuous yet they consistently miss the mark. I would argue the head is only important as long as it doesn’t disrupt the spectacle of the game. AFL only cares about money. Cameron is an exciting player to watch so he has been absolved of his unnecessary and potentially dangerous treatment of the opposing player. Furthermore Powell-Pepper’s bump was undeserving of 4 whilst other players get a slap on the wrist, followed by words of encouragement.

Lever flinged his head with the tackle lol at what point does the afl place some responsibility on the player being tackled when they have an arm free and play for the free kick? Also the tribunal stated they wouldnt take into account the off field character of the player. How has every single media outlet not read the actual hearing? I get its for clicks but every single one of them has glossed over the fact his character off field got shut down the moment they made the point, it wasnt a loophole they literally disregarded it. It got downgraded because it was a low impact hit, Lever was completely fine and actively contributed to the momentum. To me it felt like the tribunal was admitting he leaned and threw himself into the ground too but they cant say that. The AFl really needs to crack down on it because players have been getting away with it and baiting frees for a couple of years now

@@darrenkoch1718 Because they reduced the impact rating. Lever played for the free pretty hard and wasnt hurt at all. But that parts just my opinion, they did show some low impact tackles and compared it to it so theres that too

I have to strongly disagree with Damo on this one. The last thing we need is for the AFL to become judge jury and executioner. We need an independent body to make rulings on contentious issues that every stakeholder will inevitably never ever all agree on the outcomes. If it was all up to the AFL, who are you appealing to? It would become incredibly biased and I think they would focus on player protection rather than balance of rights for both player (victim and offender) regardless of plaintiff and defendant and the AFL. We have to work with players on these issues and removing a fair trial process is morally wrong. The current costs are fine. The players and what's at stake are worth the legal representation.

The afl need to start dishing out suspensions for players who consistently dive. If they are truely concerned about protecting the head everytime a player slams his own head on the ground to try and milk a free give him a week and see if the idiot wants to keep slamming his head on the ground. Same for players who run around with their head down head butting blokes then flip to the ground when they feel contact to the head give them a week. Diving is the worst part of the game and it needs to be stamped out. They should’ve made an example out of Joel Selwood years ago but they label him a hero now every young player runs around with his head down trying to milk a high contact free kick

I thought they were "cracking down" on dangerous tackles. Deserved at least a week and apparently its the 6th time he got off. I was happy with the one game ban because I thought it was fair (could’ve even been more). I feel like the AFL have been way too focussed on results instead of actions. A player can collide with another player doing nothing wrong and a concussion can occur. I don’t believe that collision should result in a suspension because we have to allow for accidents in our game. The Charlie Cameron accident was a dump tackle and it’s an action we have been conditioned to believe is likely to cause injury. If Charlie Cameron and Jake Lever re-enacted that sequence 10x, it’s almost guaranteed that a few of them would result in concussions. The AFL have got very backwards logic at the moment and it’s making it very difficult to 1. officiate, and 2. maintain consistency.

So banfield is reaching out slightly more, but still clearly cops a hip to the face. Same action, same impact, same result. But yet one is suspended and outlawed and one is not and fair play. Simple. Crouch did it perfectly as a footballer trying to get the ball and protect himself. In the new litigation world in wich we live that the AFL is bowing down to he should have got 6. The chance for serious injury was high. Butters was exactly what you want from that type of player trying to win the ball but again in this new world should have been graded reckless with the glancing nature 1 game. Camerons shouldn't have gone to the tribunal to start with but since it did and they are saying its the action they're trying to get rid of should have had his one game ban upheld. Are they tring to say his character makes it less dangerous?? Its asinine. Where talking a player that looks to hurt other players at any chance he gets.

Charlie Cameron reminds me of a movie 'The Untouchables'. Against Carlton he cleaned up a Carlton Player in the last 1/4, I think it was McGovern, lined him up and shoulder into his ribs. McGovern was running to the ball, Charlie wasn't. Charlie wasn't even cited.
