The lure (and lore) of western US mining and logging towns inspires many model railroaders. Bill Adkins is a well known modeler, now in Bend, OR, who presents here a tribute to his friend the late Brian Ellerby and his fictitious but historically accurate town of Nighthawk, modeled in Sn3. Bill describes the historic town of Burke, ID with pictures and drawings, and shows how well Brian and his friends modeled it. Near the end, Dave Woodrell, Dale Kreutzer and Russ Segner share their fond memories of Brian. Russ Segner then shares photos of some of Brian's railroad cars and some video footage he took of Brian's layout. They also discuss where portions of the layout ended up after Brian's unfortunate passing.
This presentation was recorded on 8 April 2023, at a Zoom meeting of the 4th Division of the Pacific Northwest Region of the National Model Railroad Association, aka 4D PNR of the NMRA. NMRA has many local groups around the world. Visit www.nmra.org/ and 4dpnr.com to learn more.
