This is a video tribute in honour of DB birthday celebration. He left us too early, but as Hoss said once: You can sometimes forget the pain, but you can never forget the love!

My father- John Mitchum wrote the spoken text for Dan and he sang the songs. It was released back in 1964. They were both very proud of that album.

@Songsmirth hi there songsmirth, l dont think they do now, but as im 54 this great show like many others at that wonderful time in the 60s, l never missed, loved all the cowboy shows from the states, especially bonanza,,it was so well made, its surely a classic,,l still watch the old westerns when they pop up on the telly, dan was a true gentle giant, the ponderosa really made an impression on me,,,they seemed like the perfect family on the perfect homely ranch,,take care now,,

Oh wow lovewesterns that was beautiful. I love that you put a pretty song with it. So many videos made of Hoss are coupled with guffy songs not that those aren't a treasure and funny to watch cause they are. It just nice to have a more serious song to honor him cause he was more then just a funny guy.

Dan Blocker was a big man physically, but more than that he was a big MAN. Like many big men he was gentle. No need to push people around or animals either. His size and obvious strength meant he never had to "prove" himself. It is said that unlike the character "Hoss", Blocker was a very smart man. But his character on the series was pretty much who he was.

I recently started watching this show thanks to the reruns, I was shocked to find out how old it is and that Hoss' actor died so young. He was only 42 I beleive. Mr Blocker definetly stood out as a very likeable character on Bonanza.

Nice to make your aqaintence , noglobalist. The fact that they were both proud of this album makes me feel that much more fortunate to own a near mint copy of it! I have it protected within a plastic sleeve, and have played it only one time.

I watched bonanza as a kid growing up in the 60's. What I really enjoyed or realized was that if someone got shot you only saw a small red dot. Now a days you see enough gore and guts for two people much less one red dot. And you wonder why some of the kids these days act messed up. Thank you hollyweird

Dan Blocker died too young. He was my favorite "Cartwright". Didn't he also have a group called the Dan Blocker Singers? Thanks for this video.

I just can't understand why CBS take off Bonanza episodes after the 6th season to the 14th and don't sell them! Ther are millions of fans all over the world who love Ben, Hoss and Little Joe, who will buy the DVDs! It's ridiculous and a bad business!
