The 1980s. MTV ruled the airwaves, bringing a steady stream of music videos into the homes of impressionable young viewers - and a lot of parents were freaking out. Satanic panic was at its peak, with some fearing that the so-called "devil's music" rock 'n roll would ruin lives and drive youngsters to do terrible things. All of this madness helped inspire one of the greatest, underseen horror movies of the decade: the 1986 release TRICK OR TREAT, which we're looking at in this episode of THE BEST HORROR MOVIE YOU NEVER SAW.
NOTE: Hey fellow horror fiends, we are rebranding some of our shows in the name of growing our audience on KZfaq; hence yes, this video is a BEST HORROR MOVIE YOU NEVER SAW episode
Written by Cody Hamman
Narrated by Shawn Knippelberg
Edited by Juan Juminez
Produced by John Fallon and Tyler Nichols
Executive Producer by Berge Garabedian
SERIES SYNOPSIS: Our Best Horror Movie You Never Saw series is dedicated to highlighting horror films that, for one reason or another, don't get as much love as we think they should. We know plenty of you horror hounds out there will have seen many of the movies we pick, but there will be plenty of you who have not.

"You should be Loyal to your Hero... or they can turn on you." - Sammi Curr I love this movie I watch it every Halloween. I'm glad it's more creepy than scary especially the part where Tim confronts Eddie on his front porch and the Jack O' Lanterns his Mom put out light on fire and flare up as he raises his hand at Tim. Such a great scene in a movie full of great scenes.

Happy to see this movie get some love. You should cover Black Roses to. These movies really get the 80s metal vibe. The satanic panic was crazy and it just made us want to listen to the music all the more. Same thing with people back in the day ranting about movie violence.

One of my favorite 80s horror movies. THE best soundtrack of any horror film in that era as far as I'm concerned, by the amazing Fastway. Eddie is any kid who loves metal and is living in a place where that isn't popular and is resented for it. So in other words, me and millions of others!

Crossover was pretty big when the film was made 1985/86. Many bands bands blurred the line; Corrosion of Conformity, DRI, The Accused. From what I read bands like Slayer & Metallica were at punk gigs and inspired to play faster by these shows as well as metal shows. I seem to remember Alternative Tentacles & label owner Jello Biafra was also targeted by the PMRC and was caught up in a dirty court case that contributed to the breakup of his band Dead Kennedys. The crazy parents went after Metal & Punk and Rock music in general in what seems to be some conservative Christian/Ronald Reagan campaign to clean up america. Perhaps the films producers were acknowledging this by having the "Punk record label" shirt in the scene where he gets chased thru the school. Anywys Trick or Treat doesn't have that great of music compared to the posters seen in the background. I always get bummed seeing the scene where Marc rips them all down. Pour a sip of beer for my dead homies

My wife worked with one of Skippys friends. He came over to our place after work and was talking about the stuff that his friend has been in. After he finished name dropping, I told him that he forgot about the movie Trick or Treat. The guy winced and said, 'oh lord, people SAW that?'. He sounded like he was going to invite Mark over to our place to hang out at first, but after I bought up Metal Machines, 66 Crush... 66 Crush... I never saw the guy again. It's too bad, I was betting my wife that Skippy and I would have had a lot of fun at his friend's expense.

three went to the PMRC and let them know that they weren't going to let the politicians tell the people what they thought their music was or wasn't and what it was saying...... They murdered those folks with words and won the fight. this is my favorite part. After they went to the PMRC(it's all on KZfaq. I suggest watching all three of them addressing the PMRC it's incredible) and tounge slapped the crap out of them .... The three were given these nicknames. Frank Zappa (the brains) Dee Synder (the strength) John Denver (the heart) There's a whole generation of music that these men saved. I'm always grateful they stood up for us.

Such a truly overlooked 80’s film! from everything i’ve read the music licensing is a big reason the film hasn’t been given a proper Collectors edition blu-ray (Loved the film since the first time i viewed it Tony Fields gives a great performance (Sammi Curr as a villain is very unique and different) Marc Price & Lisa Orgolini are also very good for a somewhat small budget b-movie/horror flick it’s impressive in scope ! I wish it got at least a follow up sequel with Sammi Curr the character was to good for a one and done film (the dvd is utter garbage though fans should go for the OG VHS or Laserdisc

As if it's never had a proper blue ray release? I'm no metal head and I'm not even really a fan of rock music in general, but this was one of my favourite films from the 80's, I loved it. It's well made, has some really cool effects, Marc Price and Tony Fields were absolutely brilliant in it and it's just a really cool, enjoyable film, the soundtrack is great, even for someone who's not really a rock fan like me. I used to have it on VHS here in the UK and it had Ozzy Osbourne and Gene Simmons names in big bold letters above the title and when I watched it I was like WTF? Gene Simmons is in it for a total of about 10 minutes and Ozzy literally has a 30-40 second clip cameo on the TV in the background of the film lol He has less screen time than probably 90% of the cast and has his name front and center on the VHS case, I can imagine this pissed off a lot of Ozzy's fans back in the day thinking he was going to be the main character in it 😂

I was a denim wearing misfit Metal kid in school and guitar player in the school band. we got bullied. This Movie was always my favourite growing up watching Nightmare on Elm street etc.. I have watched it again years to come and it's just awesome!

Black Roses (1988) rules, too. To be honest, it doesn't have Ozzy or Gene Simmons, but it's a fun little movie with an excellent soundtrack. Trick or Treat is obviously better as a more serious film.

I want the kids of today to just think about how we got our news back then. Here you see Ragman all happy and going on about his day.....seeing his idol on the TV....getting pumped and stoked thinking his day is going to, no pun in tended, rock!!! Then he sees the news....Dead...... Yeah no twitter back then, no text from your friends saying hey, Sammy is dead. No notification on our phones saying breaking news....nope. Just having to go through life at that time thinking everything was great till they break the news that it wont be. LOL

Caught it in the theatre in 86 when it was released. It was a young Heavy Metal Heads life in the 80's brought to life on the silver screen. The movie had it all, the attic hideaway/party room full of posters we all had or wanted, the huge speaker, 100 watt per channel rack system with the spectrum analyzer, rock legends we grew up listening to, hot, half naked chicks. Need I say more? If you grew up in the 80's, loved Metal and haven't seen this movie yet your life's not complete until you do so.

Charles Martain Smith was a good choice for director. As an actor he usually played nerds who dreamed of bigger things. Hes probably best known as the lovable geek, "Toad" in American Graffiti. I think actor Marc Price is basically a younger version of him.
