Funny because a year later the power creep has gotten way worse. I got laughed out of a ptg chat for suggesting that there is really only 5 or 6 decks played and most of it is 4-3 Vs and Maxes and 2-2 v and vstar all with cheesy energy add and cheap attacks

Please keep uploading more of this format. Possibly set up tournaments with other tcg poke tubers. I know pokemon created a poll on creating other formats. Hopefully, we will get similar official tournaments to this format.

This is so great! Literally my biggest complaint about Pokémon TCG is the power creep introduced with all the gimmicky card mechanics like EX, GX, V, and V max. I always felt like people ignore the awesome single prize Pokémon cards because of those mechanics so this is absolutely amazing.

been saying for ages that pokemon need some sort of 1 prize format because the power creep and a particular gx is joke for 1 prize decks ... this 1 of each card twist is a great idea!! looks hella fun

just thinking on this tho maybe some cards need an exception.. for example unidentified fossil feeds multiple pokemon lines so maybe u need more than 1 of? provided they can only have 1 of each pokemon still but multiple of the fossil.

This format is more fun than Standard and more balanced than Expanded. I played a game earlier and we both got to 1 prize left and we were both able to set up our game strategy even with only one-ofs in the deck. That felt amazing!

This is 100% amazing and needs to become a real official format. So, so much more balanced and fun. I've been feeling for the last year that the Theme format is legit more fun than standard or expanded.. but the thing holding it back was, ya know, having 1/3 of the deck being energy, and not enough good trainer/items. This format fixes that! Love it!!

This video is fascinating. I’m a year late now, but I’ve only recently gotten into the game. But watching this feels like what it must have been like sitting around the table as EDH/Commander was being invented for MtG. You’ve likely created a format that will become the primary way to play and dwarf competitive play in a few years (just like commander has in MtG). Beautiful.

I was skeptical at first about this format working, but I was surprisingly surprised looking at the deck list and watching the first match. This really should be an officially recognized format, even if just on the TCGO. It's an absolute pain getting demolished by huge V and VMAX cards when I'm still using a good ol' Keldeo/Blastoise deck from back when I started playing, simply because I can't afford to get enough packs to trade or pull for them. Excellent idea man. I hope more people pick up on this format.

We play a similar format at my house we call it "Bulk format" basically expanded just no 2 prize or prism star pokemon so basically bulk its fun using cards u may not have gave a second look in the normal tcg format

Dragon Shield did something similar last year, except you were aloud 2 copies of each card. But most of the other rules were similar: No rule box Pokemon, you choose 1 type to build around it (except you can also use Colourless, you just need more of your type in the deck), etc. Also, it was done irl over cameras/webcams.

This is the thing I always wanted, but did not know it yet until I heard it described. Pokemon will not put its support behind this because it doesn't move the financial ball down the field for them, and that is sad. Very grateful for this GLC format.

Gotta day I love the content and some of the savagery at times 😂😂 I wanted ask you what you thought about a deck build that was singleton like this, but could carry more than one type of Pokémon? Of course all the same rules would apply and there would be no v max, vs, gx or anything like that. just single prize only

As it is right now the decks have to be purely mono type, so cards like eeveelutions don’t see play in this format

No HGSS because the trainer cards are printed differently (items supporters etc) and the erratas can make things confusing so I thought it would be better to cut it off at black and white to keep everything unified under the modern era

@@TrickyGym That’s a good point. It also makes the format more accessible to people I guess because the vast majority of people probably don’t have cards like junk arm and professor oak. That helps to play in with decks staying cheap due to no ruleboxes and no super hard to trade for hgss trainers (I had to open locked packs for all of the hgss stuff that I have 😅)

This is amazing. It's a shame PTCGO doesn't naturally have other formats like this available for play, it's should be a no brainer. Deck building seems a bit daunting to me though, I don't think I have the chops to actually build a good deck for this, but it seems omegafun to play. #OfficiallyAwesome

In my opinion there's too much rules all in one. It could be 2 of those rules (singleton, spa only, one type only) at once, this way it would be fun without too many restrictions

i absolutely love this. i always got so tired of seeing huge HP 2-3 prize GX, V and EX cards in play. It's like the whole match is focused on just two or three pokemon... which makes it too simple. I love single prize decks for the reason that they are usually more difficult to play than like Eternatus VMax or Tagbolt Pikarom

The one thing I don't like is not allowing Eevee. The fact that people can't play their favorite evolution or Alolan Marok is a shame. And it doesn't keep things simple or make thing complex. Just seems. Backwards to make a whole section about it if you know people will ask when you can just let people play the eevee to play the corresponding evolution for the deck

This look great. I'm a new player to ptcgo, but played the cards 20 or so years ago.. clearly I'm still very baffled by all those rule box cards and stuff we didn't had back then. I doubt that I have enough cards to make a competitive deck for this format, but still, this is much better for me than playing a regular standard/expended match against all those rule box dominators. I'm not on discord, is there any other way for me to join and play ?

@TrickyGym question some Pokémon evolution lines start out as one type but then change into another while this wouldn’t normally be a problem in the regular tcg it causes problems in this format. Examples are trapinch and swablu it severely limits the number of options for those Pokémon in this format. Dragon already have a disadvantage based on their weird energy requirements. Do you think you might make some exceptions to these only single typed decks. Example being something like having to be a basic that evolves into a different type or maybe limit it to 1 or 2 a deck just thoughts.
