Tried keeping up with a Tesla in the Canyon! | Twisties | 2021 Kawasaki Z650 | Beginner | POV

Today we practice slow windy turns in the canyon. My main goal on this ride was to stay in a lower gear for a longer period of time. I think I typically switch gears a little too early.

Read your comment in the description. I did notice in your "ride home from the dealership" video that you just kept shifting to a higher gear, and not sure but it seemed as though the engine was always at very low RPMs. IMO it's better to keep the engine in the middle, or meaty part of the powerband. Usually 4-6,000rpms or so, but it depends on the specific bike. That way, you'll have power to accelerate if you need it, without having to downshift once or twice first. If you are riding and your RPMs are too low (in too high of a gear), you won't have power instantly if you do need it. Beautiful road! Wish we had roads like that in Western PA!

Thanks for all the feedback. Going to go out tomorrow and practice keeping the RPMs at a higher range before shifting and see how it feels.
