I still can't understand why people aren't praising Maidaan. Ajay Devgn's performance as SA Rahim was awe inspiring. The attention to detail in the training ground and stadiums are remarkable. Amit Ravidernath Sharma's direction is masterful. His ability to recreate the golden era of Indian football is commendable. Cinematography by Fyodor Lyass in the matches were visually arresting. Maidaan is almost a perfect film, but people now mostly resort to massy films, which leaves these films as marked as "underrated"

Brooo trust me when I saw Maidan's box office collection my jaw DROPPED. This movie was a cinematic masterpiece I felt like I was playing football with them in the screen. And the story increases your nationalism feeling within you. This could've been easily an igniting path among the youth to get into football and rise Indian football on global scale again. This was hands down unfair to Ajay Devgn and his Football team.

Maharaja was the best experience for me. I didn't know about the movie, I didn't watch the trailer, no idea about the plot. Just heard that it good good reviews and BOOM! Surprised me every second! And also Hanuman was equally surprising.

As a Tamil guy who has always loved Malayalam movies, I’m glad to see the appreciation they’ve got from the more mainstream pan India audience this year. I just hope they just continue catering to their core Malayalam audience and not try to please pan Indian audience. Actors like Prithviraj and FaFa must go the Aavesham route and make good Malayalam movies instead of acting in garbage movies like Salaar and Pushpa

Unpopular opinion: Madgaon Express was at best a mid comedy movie. I was utterly shocked after I came out of the theaters as many critics labeled this as "Comedy is back". I mean how?? It was funny for a few moments but at best it was just a slightly an above average movie. The three guys with utmost convenience enter Kombi gangs place and conveniently steal the cash and the climax was so dumbed down. I still don't know if I missed something in this movie😅

It was released in Sankranti season,A Season where every movie wants it's release to be done.It's opposite were Guntur Kaaram(An MB film who is a Demi-god is Telugu states) and other star faced projects, nonetheless it proved that Content is King.Looking forward for the PVCU

Just completed 3rd rewatch of Aavesham! Such a wild ride, goddamnit! Also in Bollywood, I'd give fighter a place as well. Not because I'm a die hard Hrithik fan, but it is genuinely a well made action film that has of course built standards in that department. It was oddly emotional in bits as well. But yes, it had horrible marketing and I think we've had enough of the India vs Pakistan narrative. AND I'M AS MAD ABOUT MAIDAAN AS YOU❤️

I would also like to include Gaami from Telugu cinema. It has a great story with three different storylines treading in parallel. And the most important highlight of the movie is that it is visually stunning. You will fall in love with the enchanting backdrop of the beautiful Himalayas.

MAIDAAN is superb. Btw, myself a football loving bong living in canada for several years drove over 800+ Kms (One way) with a 4.5 years old paying 2.3X original ticket price to watch Copa America live match of Argentina (& watch Messi Live) and oh bouy it was experience of a lifetime. Same football fan wants India to excel in football.Having grew up in Kolkata hearing about PK Banerjee, Chuni Goswami MAIDAAN was a superlative cinematic experience on big screen. The technical details are brilliant, Devgn fantastic and the history everyone should know about Syed Abdul Rahim. While i was dissapointed at the box office result (watched here in empty theaters) atleast watch it on Prime.. Lets hope India shines in football again, a sport played by maximum countries and the craze is humungous (Hope Argentina wins the copa again on 14th July) ☺

Maharaja - In many ways the metaphor of Lakshmi grasped me by the heart. In many vaishnavan sampradays, Laxmi refers to the shoba (grace/elegance) of Narayana that radiates from his heart and pervades His whole murti. If we relate to the metaphor of Lakshmi being lost. It really makes a lot of sense by the end of the movie. You really do understand how Lakshmi has been lost.

Hi, One of our loyal sub. I have a topic that would be interesting for you to make a video on it or for a discussion. I would like you to please read the whole comment and examples. So, recently I thought of remarks in the Hindi film industry. I am a movie addict and sometimes I see movies which are remakes. 1st example, Shaitaan and Vash. I have only seen Shaitaan because it was available in Hindi. But Vash, I was not aware of it and also it was limited to Gujarati language and I don't know that language, hence I didn't watch that movie and never came across it until youtubers mentioned it in there Shatiaan review. 2nd example, Kantara- Originally it was limited to Kannada language many of my friends from south told me to see it. However, I didn't but when it was released in Hindi too, it was epic and 1 of the best movie experience. Last example, Kabzaa and KGF- so Kabzaa is almost the same like KGF. However, since both of the movies were released in Hindi language, Kabzaa failed Pan India. Based on these 3 examples I have some questions for me and you. 1Q. If I didn't see the original movie, will the remake movie count as the original movie from my POV. (Even you would have come across this situation many times) 2Q. "Once you overcome the one-inch tall barrier of subtitles, you will be introduced to so many more amazing films"- Oscar winner director's quote. If the "amazing" films are not available in the language widely spoken i.e. English or/and Hindi then I as an audience are left with 2 choose a. Look at the subtitles the majority of the time or b. Wait for the remake. The last one is more of a conclusion. If movies like Kantara are not dubbed Properly in widely spoken languages then other industries are just going to copy paste them. KFG did hence Kabzaa failed. Kantara did hence no 1 will even think of getting a success by copy pasting it. South Drishyam didn't dubbed it in Hindi and hence we saw Ajay's Drishyam. Also, there is an unsaid desire to see Deadpool like movies in Hindi instead of English. Because it connects to us. Widely spoken languages mai release karo warna opportunity ko do gye or upar se koi remake kar bhi dega or original stakeholders khud ko bolge "yaar, khud ko underestimate nahi karna chahiye tha." If 'A Wednesday' was dubbed and released properly in English then 'A comman man' Hollywood movie won't have won and earn profits based on our talent. A Common Man won Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actor awards at the Madrid International Film festival. I hope you have read my comment. Love, From one movie lover to another. I know it's a long message but it is worth mentioning to a proper person who knows the value of this cinema.

Waiting for your review on 'gaganachari' movie. One of the nicest mockumentary from mollywood.

Actually i am slightly unsatisfied with the kalki movie , for it's writting . Nag put so many unwanted elements in first half . Most importantly , the character arc in this movie was so bad . Among all the leading roles only deepika and Amitabh character consists a proper character development, we can't say that Bhairava character has a strong development only with the final twist . Even the big final karna twist should have more foreshadowing. I don't know why so many directors like nag adding unwanted build up sequences for hero , rather than developing the characters and stories. We can't make sympathy on movie with vfx. Content is the matter . As a general audience, genuinely, honestly, prabhas need to improve himself at acting for the upcoming films ( that is my personal pov ) . These are my constructive criticisms . If writting is in the same condition for the upcoming movies in the universe that doesn't work for audience. And don't compare the movie with the collection. Collection doesn't show the movie's quality

I went to Guna Caves in Kodaikanal with friends this May, and the atmosphere there was crazy. The number of visitors the place is receiving after the movie is unreal. You can see many groups of friends (like in the movie) coming from Kerala and other places. Cars and travelers are full of young and diverse people coming from far places just to visit. You could hear "Kanmani Anbodu" playing everywhere near the cave area, including in our vehicle (XD). I must say, it was an unreal experience, to say the least. Great movie and a great impact.

Jammy , did you try watching Gaganachari, Sci-fi film in malayalam currently running in theaters?

I think Fighter also deserved to be in top 10 or atleast in honourable mention , the action scenes (specially the jet scenes were really exhilarating) , it has depth that was missing in previous siddharth anand movies , deifinitely a big screen experience.

I believe Anweshippin Kandethum did deserve a place in this list too 🙂

Hanuman should easily be in the top 5 What it has done for mythological sci-fi genre in Bollywood is beyond comparable. I hope it is remembered for truly encouraging the genre. While Kalki was great its first half was insufferable.

Watched : 1. Bhakshak 2. Laapata Ladies 3. Article 370 With female leads and they were all commendable with brilliant performances. Havent watched other male focused movies but on my watch list now.
