Well, NOW I know what finding the phase shift really is about; finding where the stuff in the brackets equals zero! Wish my teacher would have just told us that instead of the steps to take with all the conditions...

I don't know what it is...but the way he says 'Let's try another one' at 1:30 just makes me feel really excited and confident! And that's saying something...I've been teaching math for 5 years!

THANK YOU I did NOT get this when my teacher explained it and my book only had the "cute" examples where there never was any phase shift, or the period was a nice even number like pi all the time, and then threw me questions that involved combinations of these things without teaching us how to deal with it. You are awesome.

I tried your method for problem 2 and 3 on problem one and I got a start of -pi/4 and an end of 7pi/4. Why does it not work on the first problem? Is it because the period is one?
