I had the surgery on the index, middle and ring fingers on the right hand 14 days ago. Had the stitches out yesterday. The was some mild pain but I didn't use any pain medications. I did a 20 minute guitar practice session and rode a bicycle (doctor said it was ok). Only concern is that the fingers are really stiff and painful in the morning for a couple of hours.

Just had trigger finger release surgery nearly three days ago on ring and middle. Used narcotic for one day. Now just on a combo of Tylenol and ibuprofen. Almost 72 hours into recover. Hand still swollen, but pain is light, as long as I take the otc pain meds. Using ice and trying to wiggle fingers several times a day. - I am a guitar player, so hoping this heals fast. No way I could play right now.

I just had the surgery for thumb and middle trigger finger release a week and a half ago. I am also a guitar player that has been unable to play for about 7 months leading up to the surgery. How did your recovery turn out? Did you get full range of motion back? I am eager to get back to life before trigger finger.

@@mushushu78 At one year out of surgery, everything is great. Occasionally I may have stiffness, but a little fretboard workout helps. Sadly, I still cannot play like Brent Mason, but I couldn't before the surgery! Lol! Good luck to ya!

I am a registered dental hygienist and had trigger thumb surgery 4 days ago. Trust me when I say I needed the oxy because that Tylenol #3 didn't even take the edge off of the pain after the anesthesia wore off. I am exercising my thumb throughout the day but just a little concerned if I will have enough strength back in my hand to go back to work in 2 weeks.

I had 2 fingers done yesterday 1 being my thumb. The anesthesia has worn off on the finger and have had no pain from the surgery. For some reason my thumb is still numb im hoping it is just taking longer to wear off. Question when ya did your exercises were you concerned about breaking open the stitches cause they pull so hard ?

Wow...you got Precription pain meds?? I was just told to use OTC. Was prescribed nothing. Good luck to your recovery, and I hope your pain goes away.

I am surprised that this doctor doesnt have the decency to reply to the comments which show an overwhelming negative response to this procedure. I just had percutanoeus release to my trigger finger yesterday. It does get swollen and there is pain and its hard to get full range of motion. I do get scared that i am making things worse. I will be calling a physical therapist to help me. I think its important to take control of your situation immediately since the scar tissue will develop immediately which will defeat the whole purpose of getting the procedure

i'm not expecting a reply, but just for the record, to let everyone know how very broken the system is, i still have breakthrough bleeding on my palm (since my mid-finger surgery exactly a week ago). The surgeon who operated on me never returned my voicemail. Rather only the PA phoned two days ago and stated that some bleeding is normal and that its probably due to the glue. Well, I don't think a full week of breakthrough bleeding is normal! I cannot easily get thru to them, and they're hardly available at my local location so by the time the PA took his blessed time getting back to me, it was too late. To top it off - neither urgent care center nor primary care doctor will agree to help me (despite my having desperately visited both places within the past week). They all tell me that only the surgeon may get involved. So why didn't the primary office's staff tell me that by phone, so that I shouldn't have to make a visit for nothing? How cruelly cold un"health"care is. Its no exaggeration that a huge chunk of my life is spent "babysitting" the broken system - i.e. having to be constantly on alert for if/when anyone deigns to get back to me, which even then usually winds up right back at square-one.

My doctor is leaving bandages 6 days. Sore but not a lot of pain unless the stitches pinch or pull then it does hurt.

Years ago I had a problem with waking up with my 4th & 5th fingers locked closed. Very slowly and carefully I could open them up, I suspected it was due to golf and a different grip I was using. I simply started sleeping with a glove on my right hand with a popsicle stick in those fimgers. Never had the problem again after doing this a awhile; maybe 2 weeks.

I had surg. a week ago, and experiencing pain as well (both in extension and flexion). The finger naturally tends to remain bent at the knuckles during extension. I hope to go soon for OT - finger therapy. I'll see how it goes. Because frankly, i've never had success with phys.therapy before. Not for my back nor for my feet. For my back they had me pulling on a rope, and then left me there. That resulted in painfully gross-calcification of my ring-finger knuckle, due to the rope having dug in repetitively. How primitive our system is.

After the surgery my finger is bent and stiff, I am doing therapy and I don't see any improvement, now I am worse than before. What happened with the surgery?. I am very worried. Has the same thing happened to anyone and what did they do?. Thank you.

2 weeks after surgery fingers are very stiff in the morning for a couple of hours. I can't fully extend the fingers or make a closed fist. 5 months later, how is the hand?

I would ask your doctor about it; he could give you steroid shot in thumb which often works. Generally if you end up needing a second shot after time and that doesn’t work, you will need surgery. I had trigger thumb surgery snd complete reversal of my trigger thumb😀

Wow! Its uncanny that i'm reading your post, because if you take a look, I myself just now posted a similar experience (a month after you)! I trust your incision is healed by now? In my case, were it not for the glue they had swabbed on me along with what appears to be gentian-violet....if not for that, I would have applied bactracin on my own by now. Because for sure the extended establishment hasn't bothered twiddling their thumbs to help me! That's how our lovely system has been rigged by the overlords of a century ago.

I just had surgery yesterday and I'm trying to get my finger to go ask the way strait and ask the way bent but i can't yet. There is a bruise on the inside of finger from my hand up to the middle knuckle. I hope that's normal

If you mean a "black-and-blue" feeling on your finger, it may be normal to feel just a bit of that on the finger directly after surgery, but that feeling ought to be mostly be on the palm, above where the "pulley" is supposed to be.

I had trigger finger surgery 5 weeks ago. I returned to my job after 2 weeks. I am a dental lab technician and it's very rough on the hands. I am having problems again with my hand, it is going numb, can't bend it all the way, swollen arm and pain all the way up to my shoulder. Is this a normal healing process? Do I just need to quit my job for this to go away?

kitterkat007 Hey I’m a processor in a denture lab. I had my surgery last Monday & my thumb still has tingling & numbness. How are you? Did you end up having to quit? I’m afraid of returning to work, I’m having pain in my shoulder as well.
@kitterkat007

@@tigga8301 Well my hand still isn't fully healed and it's been almost 4 months.. It really hurts when I'm at work trying to wax/sculpt the dentures. I'm afraid I'm going to have to look for me another job because as long as I'm doing that, my finger will never heal. It isn't the same as before either. I can't straighten my finger all the way. But I think I must have went back to work too soon. Get you plenty of rest, stay off of work as long as you can.

kitterkat007 Aww man I’m so sorry it’s still giving you the blues. I’ll definitely take your advice & make them aware of the pain I’m having. What really sucks is that I had just started waxing when I injured my finger.

@@tigga8301 I'm pretty sure it's the waxing that caused mine. You might want to try to avoid the waxing.
@tigga8301
@tigga8301 5 жыл бұрын
kitterkat007 The waxing may have aggravated it, but the initial injury came from trimming models. We do about 20-25 arches per day (give or take) & I’ve been a processor for 6 years. Did you ever feel like your thumb was detached or dislocated after the surgery?
