I was first diagnosed with a caffeine sensitivity. I gave up caffeine. I noticed that alcohol gave me the same symptoms. I basically stopped drinking. Which was no big deal because I was a very light social drinker anyway. Then I was told I had anxiety. Was put on meds for that. I kept telling the Dr's something was not quite right with my heart. I had a stress test and was fine there. They kept telling me it was probably menopause trigger anxiety. 5 years later I had to call an ambulance 3 times and went to the ER twice before the EKG finally caught it while it was happening. I had to wait 6 weeks for my turn with the holter monitor. Wore that for 2 weeks and found out that I had Afib. I was also then sent for a sleep study and I had terrible sleep apnea. PS I never snored. Things are better and managed with medication now. But it was terrifying going for all those years without being heard that it was my heart. I am working to try to lose the tons of weight I gained from being on an anti anxiety med that made me sleep 13 hours a night on the weekends and constantly feel like I was starving. I am hoping the weight loss will help with my Afib. If anyone thinks they have Afib, please be sure to self advocate. It is worth your effort.

Being dehydrated. Bending over, like vacuuming the floor of your car or reaching down into a washing machine. Eating fatty food. Bad colds and flu.

Bingo: I own a few of these triggers. In the past my cardioligist claimed it was just coincidental, but from personal experience I knew better.

Very informative. I was just diagnosed and it all seemed to come to light after a surgery. Not quite sure where how severe mine is, but this video has eased my fears a bit. I do need to lose a few pounds, and had very well controlled blood pressure up until the last month or so. Can’t figure that out but, as I said, it’s been a horrible four months, including breaking my femur in half. Other than that, my risk factors are low or nonexistent. Hoping that I can eliminate or minimize this a fib. I am pretty much freaked out by this so I’m trying to learn as much as I can about it. 73 years old and very active on a farm. Female.

I am 29 and mine is triggered by laying on my left sude, getting uo and down really fast or laying under working on vehicles. I was put in the hospital on a defibrillator and rushed by ambul because of it once. All because I layed on my left side.

I find drinking alkaline water keeps my stomach from getting upset which was something that triggered afib attacks.

I have found certain foods trigger my a-fib. Apples, Pears, Peaches, Mangos, items with high sugar (Excess Fructose) also Lactose... Icees/sulurpee and frozen drinks if consumed too fast. Of course caffeine and tea, except for decaf.

I didn't realize this, but when I had a CAC of 660 I went on Omega3 high dose of 3-4 grams per day. I learned that Europeans were saying they were experiencing A-fib on Omega3. When I recently had Covid I was in A-fib for a week. I decided to stop Omega3 and in a couple of days I was not experiencing any A-fib. I decided to run a 100yds as an elevated heart rate in the 80s, which usually would put me into A-fib didn't happen. In fact I put my heart in the 90s and no A-fib. I did stop alcohol a known trigger. An over the counter decongestant would also put me into A-fib. But I don't know about the Omega3 influence being a factor in either one. All I know is I'm estatic that my A-fib seems to be gone!

My primary trigger for Afib is digestion problems, with stomach gas and bloated stomach. The other is sleep apnea. I have celiac disease and by avoiding gluten and gas-producing vegetables and fruits and sleeping in a position that keeps my airway open, I have dramatically reduced the incidence of Afib.

I have Afib. It took 5 years for the Dr's to believe me that it was my heart and not anxiety. Wearing a holter monitor for 2 weeks proved me right. Of course I was put on anti anxiety meds before my Afib diagnose. I am trying to wean myself off of them. But the withdrawl gives me Afib. My Cardiologist doesn't think that it should. But for me it does. Best wishes and be sure to self advocate until you get an answer.

Being shocked out of sleep from a car crash in front of my house did it to me last time. Once getting a sudden stomach virus and running to the bathroom to vomit (sorry). Other 6 times, hard to say.
