Today we will walk you through how to install a Rohloff Internally Geared Hub onto ANY Catrike model.
Upgrade your trike with an all internal rear gearing, protecting your gears and giving you higher gearing that external gearing just cant get on a Catrike.

I purchased a Rohloff kit from Utah Trikes and installed it on my ICE Adventure HD. I absolutely LOVE it! The one piece of advice I would offer is to do an initial oil change at 1000 - 1500 miles . Shifting improved dramatically after the first oil service. I now have over 6000 miles on the hub and it is performing flawlessly.

and the Conversion kit and Wheel Extension Kit the sadly the reason I will NEVER be able to use a rear parking brake or 700c/29" wheel on my catrike like I want..I HATE QR axles and will never go back to one.The thru axle so so much stronger and yet the great people at UT dont make a set for people like me to stay with a thru axle..But they do great things for us trike riders in so many other ways 😃When it comes to buying trike parts UT is the only and BEST place to order from

Do you still offer the 3d printed Rohloff full grip shifter ? If so is it hard plastic ? Could you do a video on switching it from the standard Rohloff grip shifter ? Can a padded grip be used with this full grip shifter, or something to give better grip, as I assume hard plastic would be slick. I installed a Rohloff on my ICE Adventure HD 26FS with a Tongsheng TSDZ2 48v 750w MidDrive I honestly believe on assist level 4-5 (of 9) and in 1st gear on the Rohloff it would climb a Tree ! Love it !

Wow! I've been wanting to switch the rear derailleur on my AZUB Ti-Fly X that I purchased from you guys a couple of years back. Do you make a kit the the AZUB unit?

I own a Catrike Expedition, which I bought from Utah Trikes back in 2017. Couple things...I really don't care for a Twist grip shifter. The plastic piece inside wears out, whereas a tab shifter on top of the grip handle bar, which is what I have is a much better more reliable shifter. Also I really don't care for the extension bracket for the hub. It causes a weaker point from main frame to actual hub point vs mounting directly to frame drop out.

The angle of the chain tensioner is not correct. Check the Rohloff manual for instructions.

I have been thinking about changing my 559 to Rohloff for months because when I went from the three front gears to a mid drive, I lost my ability to pedal beyond about 18-19 mph. With that kit should I switch to a fixie chain, or can I keep my existing chain for awhile? It only has about 1700 miles on it so far

Hi so I got myself a handcycle and got a Rohloff installed with it. My gear goes to only 3 and it shift up to 11x. Should I just take that black cap of and turn it clockwise all the way to the right to make sure it is on the first gear then set my gear to one? Or would I have to do the other steps with the chain before messing with that gear box?

Can the rholhoff handle a 300 lbs rider with a 1500watt middrive?

The maxiumum allowable input torque of the Rohloff is 130Nm. The say that you must have an external ration of 2.5 if rider above 100kg or if using an ebike. The weight limit probbaly only refers to bicycles though where you can stand up.

@@DemiGod.. . Interesting. The average 620ultra puts out 160nm at a fairly low rpm, plus I strand up and add at least another 40nm for short bursts myself until I get winded. That is a good amount over the rating.

Triot makes their trikes with a Rohloff hub and a belt, but there is still a chain from the pedals to a takeoff wheel behind the seat, then the belt goes from the wheel to the hub. The chain is enclosed in tubes. Most trikes are going to use a chain in front because it’s easier to adjust for different sizes of people. There is also a company called Alpha that makes very high speed trikes that uses a belt in the rear, but I don’t remember how they gear it. I’ve seen a couple trikes where the chain goes to the front wheels and the rear wheel is for steering
