Trimming a Sky Hedge

Trimming / pruning a formal statement peace, Sky Hedge.
I believe it Hornbeam and not Beech, this is a sky Hedge and not a pleatched Hedge, as this is not on a frame or supported.
The Hedge is one of a pair, each Hedge took me on my own, 7 hours and I counted 15 large bags of waste.
All trimmed with battery powered trimmers, I used the, stihl hla 66 and hla 85 plus the bga86 blower and the Hendon tripod ladder.

Absolutely amazing. Your love for the work shines through. You're the best, the Hedge King, Jason! It's such a pleasure to watch you work. Can't beat a day on hedge cutter lol, the wind was a pain when trimming, but i cleared up, from up wind, so used it to my favour, was just last few bits that it caused problems 😮‍💨😀 Cheers mate 👍

Thanks mate, appreciate that 😀, I actually maintain that garden too and the neighbours lol, I can only suggest, if you want simple trimming work is advertising in targeted parish news letters and magazines, they are worth every penny 👍👍

@@stoneyblack6905 parish magazine are the best place to pick up large properties, they are mostly 12 months a year work too, winter is a very busy time for them 👍

On that one, it wasn't to bad, but there is 2 of them, so the next day on the second hedge, I felt it lol. 😀👍👍

Great tidy Job as always Jason how are you getting on with the new hedge trimmers are the as powerful as the petrol ones the look to be nice and Light keep up the great work

Thanks Paul, they are more than powerful enough and yes generally lighter, I would not want to go back to 2 stroke machines, battery is just so much nicer to use and less stress a the body. 🙂👍

How often does this hedge need trimming? I’ve never seen a hedge like this. Just an impressive skill you have.

Need to ask why is it called a Sky Hedge? And why two trimmers and what kind of plant. So envious of your camera work. Beautiful job 👍

It's a sky Hedge, because unlike pleatched Hedges, it's not on a frame or supported, different Hedge cutters for more reach, it's a Hornbeam. Cheers thanks 👍👍

7 hours, about 5 hours trimming and 2 hours cleaning up, 12-14 big bags a waste. Cheers mate 👍 👌

Nice job, mind me asking what hedgecutter your using and how long the battery lasts?

Cheers mate, it's the stihl hla 66 and hla 85, with a small ap200 batteries, which is what I mostly use in cutters, as keeps weight down, over 2 hours, trigger time each. 😀👍

Been thinking about investing in a tripod ladder Jason they look very stable compared to what I'm useing are they worth the big pricetag?

Hi Rob, Absolutely, Very stable, light , easy to use, enables you to get in the right position, extending legs great for awkward levels, you feel very safe on them.I got 8 foot ones and tbh wished I’d gone to 10 ! They have a really wide base so transportation is different depending on what vehicle you have, they will take up a bit more room in your truck/ van. Bit of an investment but what’s the cost of an accident 😄

Yeah malky think your right years of clinging onto wobbly crap ladders think its time to invest 8ft ones for my jobs I think as you get older safety concerns tend to take over
