For this journey I traveled aboard EuroNight sleeper train EN Slovakia. I took ČD Sleeper from Czech capital Prague to Košice, the second-largest city in Slovakia. This service is operated by ČD (Czech Railways) in cooperation with ZSSK (Slovakian Railways).

Konečně vagon, kde se dá kupé uzamknout když jdeš ven. Ten výhled na Tatry byl úchvatný :) Celkem úsměvná byla v Praze ta auta u kterých se spustil alarm :)

Teď už mají dveře na kartu i rekonstruované WLABmee, takže budu asi muset ještě znovu otočit Budapešť :-D S těmi auty je to skoro u každého spoje, že nějaké houká, hlavně že se má vždy vypínat alarm :-D Jinak kvůli Tatrám jsem si záměrně přivstal :-)

Yes, it is, I think this is one of the best sleeping cars in Europe. Btw. the same type of sleeping cars operates ÖBB on Nightjet trains :-)

Díky! Tyto vozy jsou asi jedny z nejlepších lůžkových, co aktuálně jezdí (stejné má ÖBB pro vlaky Nightjet), ale ty dveře prostě nedomysleli.. ale podobný problém jsem už viděl i v hotelech.

Výborná recenze jako vždy👌. Určitě by stálo za to natočit obě dvě trasy do Curychu. Se změnou GVD bude i pár změn v rámci všech nočních spojů. A asi nejvíce mě potěší, když se na tom voze setkáme, vy v pozici cestujícího a já průvodce :D

Díky moc! Canopus do Curychu asi zkusím v lednu, původní plán byl začátkem nového jízdního řádu, ale ty ceny byly trochu vysoké (kolem 7tis. za deluxe a 6tis za Standard), což je na EuroNight kategorii celkem hodně.. V nejhorším koupím leden nebo únor :-D Jinak mám také v plánu vyzkoušet rekonstruovaný Temelín, případně se třeba potkáme ve vlaku na Varšavu, do Polska jezdím celkem často :-D

The trip report and the video are great as always.👍 The open seating coach class Bpeer 29-70 is my favourite ever. The sleeper is fine as well, except the intermediate doors. I spotted there a track measuring coach of the railway research institute, maybe something common with the undergo trackworks. The Košice coach yard, the good ol' fashioned WRRm restaurant... yeah, I thought, they were withdrawn a century ago.😎 Thank for sharing.

Thanks for watching! As for the measuring car at Kolín station, I see it there very often. It is probably related to the long-term construction works on the 1st corridor.

@@PeteBrandy ...my English... however I'd edited once... The track works came to the south Slovakian region, two 10 km stretches are reduced now for only 1 track. Because the works on the adjacent one, the speed is limited at 50 kmph. The journey onboard the Metropolitans s... 20-30 minutes of delay. The next sunday brings new schedule, where are the works computed into it. They say, the new speed will be there 180 kmph. (I know, technically the HS line is above 189, they want to save some money, they rejected the original 200 idea from this reason... but, good morning, grandmama, it is too late, the whole Czech border - Kúty - Štúrovo - Hungarian border line should has been reconstructed three decades ago for 160 - 200 kmph tempo. Not for the tourists or trainlovers, but the workers and taxpayers, who are working in Bratislava, but still living at their homes... and the same goes for Komárno, weither via Dunajská Streda, or via Nové Zámky.. The congestions in Bratislava are incredible, since the new satellites in Bory, the traffic jam is continueous from the ice hockey stadium till the Bory shopping center in lenght of 10 kilometers...)

I love the old rotunda at Prague station. It had not been restored when I toured station in 2009 but it looks great now.

Hi Pete! Excellent video as always! Question: Is there an on-line resource that describes the classification codes used by ČD and ZSSK? Wikipedia covers those used by DB, ÖBB, SNCF, SBB, and the main car types (e.g. A, B, AB, WLAB, WR, etc.) but ČD sub classes like WLABmz⁸²⁶ or Bee²³⁸ or a railjet ARbmpz⁸⁹² are a bit puzzling to someone from North America. Sorry for the long question. Greetings from Canada!

Thanks for watching! In addition to the letter designation, ČD also uses an index, which means the vehicle code according to the Passenger Car Register. The first digit indicates the type: 1 - 1st class, 2 - 2nd class, 3 - combined car 1st/2nd class, 4 - passenger car with a luggage compartment, 7 - trailer cars for motor railcars, 8 special cars (sleeping / dining / salon), 9 - luggage or mail cars. Meaning of the second and third digits: 00 - 49 cars for international RIC traffic, 50 - 89 cars for domestic traffic, 90 - 99 double-decker, narrow gauge or special cars

What is the diffrence between a couchette and a sleeping coaches in nightjets(aký je rozďiel medzi spacím a ležadlovým vozom) lebo ešte som sa spacím vlakom nikdy neviezol a chcel by som tak aby som veďel čo si mám vybrať :D 2. Will you film a video on rjx train from bratislava main station to curych (switzerland? ) Natočite video z vlaku rjx (lebo som s ním ešte nikdy nebol ) a chcel by som ním ísť trvá to 10h (samozrejme ak budete mať čas :D Ďakujem za odpiveď

Díky moc! Lůžkový vůz má pohodlnější a většinou i širší postele a také je tam méně lůžek (nejčastěji 3, někdy jen 2 a na východě někdy 4) a postele už bývají povlečené, navíc má většinou v kupé alespoň umyvadlo. Lehátkový vůz má jen tvrdší lehátka a většinou je jich 4 nebo 6, povlečení na lehátka je položené na lehátku a povléká si každý sám, v kupé nebývá umyvadlo. Ten RJX už jsem se už několikrát díval že bych vyzkoušel, asi bych to dal v létě na Interrail jízdenku.

There are only a few trains with a dining car in Europe and some night trains only have a dining car for part of the route.

Definitely CD sleeper. RegioJet using former couchettes and price is similar to CD. Btw I also have video from RegioJet sleeper on my channel :-)

Uz som to zazil viackrat, najma v lete byvaju tieto vlaky plne a ked clovek cestuje na poslednu chvilu, tak ostava sedacka. Zalezi od kulturneho obohatenia, ak su ludia v pohode, tak sa to da prezit. Ale pri novom GVD, kedy tento spoj ide 11hodin a 45 minut z Prahy do Kosic, tak tomu sa vyhnem oblukom.

Já kdyby nebyl volný Deluxe, tak asi raději poletím Ryanairem :-D Ale už jsem zkusil do Košic i přes Bratislavu a Nové Zámky a jednou jsem to dal i RegioJetem.. Ale vozem na sezení bych to opravdu nedal :-D

hey where did you order the tickets (i need ticket for international ride to poland) and i can't buy them on CD website (it says that tickets can't be bought online for this train)

Hey, I bought the ticket through the ČD website. If it shows that the ticket cannot be bought online, it usually means that the tickets in this category / for this contingent have already been sold out. Sometimes it helps to change the tariff type in the previous steps (the First moment Europe tariff is often sold out). But if it is not possible to buy even in another tariff, then just try the ČD call center or check if there are still any vacancies on the PKP website. With tickets to Poland, there is also often a problem in communication between the ČD and PKP reservation systems, so you need to try it more often, it usually worked better early in the morning. You also need to check that you are booking a direct connection (often the reservation system will offer several options for the same ride).

Super video! Ten výhled na Tatry byl dechberoucí a přemýšlím, že bych něco takového vyzkoušel taky. Chtěl bych se ale zeptat, jak člověk zařídí, aby měl celý oddíl v lůžkovém/lehátkovém voze pro sebe? Na webu čd žádná taková volba není.

Díky moc! Na webu ČD je volba typu kupé v sekci “místenka”, kde lze zvolit lehatko, luzko nebo luzko deluxe a vlevo pak lze vybrat T3 oddíl - lůžko v kupé pro 3, Double - lůžko v kupé pro 2 osoby a nebo S - single

Díky moc! Konkrétně v tomto případě jsem byl v Košicích 2 hodiny a pokračoval jsem vlakem EC Hornád do Budapešti, odkud jsem pak pokračoval vlakem EuroNight do Berlína :-D

@@davidzatorsky2382 Staré město vypadá pěkně, a pak jsem stihl ještě do nákupního centra.. ale celkově mě Košice mile překvapily, hlavně železniční stanice, po zkušenostech s Bratislavou a Žilinou je stanice v Košicích opravdu moc pěkná :-)

Hi. I will be travelling from Prague to Kosice in September this year and want to do it by this night train by CD. My question is, how would I be able to understand which carriage has been assigned to me? Because I can only see "sleeping car" or "couchette" written on the body of the carriages but there doesn't seem to be anything else identifying the carriage. Sorry I am not familiar with European trains, hence why I am asking.

Hi, if you use České dráhy train (EN Slovakia), on the reservation (ticket) you should have the number of the car and the berth number listed. All cars are numbered (there is a sign or a sticker with the car number on the door in the window). The numbering of sleeping cars for the route Prague - Košice (- Michalovce) is in the interval 363 - 372 (sleeping cars 363 - 368, couchettes usually 369 and 371). Each sleeping car has its own sleeping car attendant who stands by the train upon boarding, so they can advise on finding the right car.

Unfortunately no, they changed the type of wafers that are now in the breakfast package... and they are not in the onboard menu (the ČD minibar has a different operator).

Tak Vy jste Čech? Tak proč je to celé anglicky? Bez možnosti titulků? To mne dost mrzí. Krásná cesta, úchvatné Tatry a ten klid, když jste tam sám.

Ano, jsem.. a Angličtina má jednoduchý důvod, protože většina diváků není z Česka - aktuálně se podíl shlédnutí z Česka pohybuje pod 20 procent a u videí ze zahraničí někdy podíl českých diváků neudělá ani 5 procent.. dodatečné titulky v Češtině by to asi vyřešily, ale v tom případě bych ještě musel přidat minimálně ještě Němčinu a Polštinu .. Jinak ten výhled na Tatry je úžasný, dokonce jsem se kvůli němu nechal vzbudit už v Popradu, abych ho nepropásl :-)

V nocích vlacích jsou určitě lepší ČD, RJ má pouze lehátkové vozy (přesto že je nazývá lůžkovými).. ale na komerčních linkách je v poslední době RJ lepší díky konzistentnosti v řazení a službám
