TRIP REPORT | Superb Flight & Planespotting! ツ | AerLingus: Amsterdam to Dublin

Aer Lingus Trip Report from Amsterdam to Dublin onboard one of the Aer Lingus A320 on a wet and windy autumn morning.
A very comfortable flight to Dublin with Aer Lingus. The plane was almost empty due to the travel restrictions, so every passenger had around 6 seats to enjoy. Before you ask, transit passengers are allowed in Dublin airport. That was my case when recording this video. I didn't stay in Ireland.
The flight had a nice departure and views in Amsterdam, followed by cloudy landscapes until we reached the UK west coast. Then, the descent and approach into Dublin were clearly marked by heavy winds and turbulence, but with very nice views of the always green Ireland.

I did this same route back in 2008, when I travelled to Ireland to study. My flight was EI605. I remember that the expansion works of the terminal at DUB were just at the beginning. Thank you for bringing these memories back! Your videos are superb! Greetings from Brazil! Saludos desde Brasil!

Wow! 2008! Sounds close, but it was already 12 years ago! Amazing how fast goes time!! :D Right now, they are finishing works of runway 28R, s when all this pandemic finishes (or eases effects) Dublin airport won't have anymore those huge queues for taking off! :)

Que bien ver de nuevo Schiphol tenía que irme a pasar el mes de diciembre a Utrecht pero no puede ser ,pero contenta de que estés allí y podamos como siempre disfrutar de tus viajes .Gracias OnboardHD saludos

I really like this Trip Report as it features a flight Dublin, which is my most used airport for flying. A bumpy approach as usual for Dublin too! I love seeing the plane spotting parts in your videos. Always nice to see! ✈️

I flew through Schiphol many years ago with TWA from JFK to Copenhagen. We couldn’t see the terminal because we had to stay on the aircraft, a Boeing 747-100. Otherwise we’d have to clear customs which is impossible when you only have about 1.5 hours layover. I do miss TWA.

Nice video, no much people on board yet, and in the minute 5:49 you presente a KLM plane with destination Guayaquil (very happy to see that). Is the second city in my country Ecuador, principal harbor for import and export ships.

I'm planning a lot of long-haul trips, that will be confirmed as soon as the worldwide travel restrictions are lifted! I'm not sure if it will be possible, but I'm planning a tour in South and Central America, flying between several countries... It sounds amazing, but the logistics behind that and the budget will probably dictate if it will be possible or not... =/

Totalmente de acuerdo. Es el mismo problema que tiene AirBaltic para vuelos Europeos: ambas están en esquinas de Europa... si estuviesen en el centro serían una opción a tener siempre en cuenta para vuelos de conexión.

Hi Lucas. Great review. I really felt like I was on that flight myself. Bumpy going into Dublin and the Irish sea looked very rough as well. Sad to see all the aircraft just sitting on the tarmac. And sad to see so few pax on the flight. Pre covid that flight would have been full. Your vids are the next best thing to actually flying . The quality is so good, on my new 50" TV.. lol...safe flying and take care..g

Absolutely mate! If you go to the non-Schengen area you can find almost every important airline in the world! It's just amazing! I'm really looking forward to go there again after all these pandemic restrictions... in other words, with the usual traffic. It will be just hilarious!! :D

It surprised me as well...there are so many restrictions in Ireland, but its flag carrier doesn't have any special measure rather than "social distancing", facemasks and not offering any service onboard...

Nice trip report, so sureal to see what would be a normally high demand route have very little passengers, hopefully won’t be like this for long. I flown that aircraft back in 2019, unfortunately didn’t have mood lighting then, liked!

Hay pocas cosas a la hora de volar que me den más respeto que el viento cruzado. La turbulencia ya me da igual e incluso a veces es divertida si es leve, pero con el viento cruzado no puedo 😂😂😂😂😂. Gran video como siempre Lucas, aunque no he podido estar en el estreno esta semana 😢

Jeje Hay técnicas para aterrizar con viento cruzado. De hecho, lo más complicado no es el viento cruzado, lo más complicado es el viento cruzado fuerte RACHEADO. Ese es siempre el más tricky, pues no sabes cuando te va a venir la racha exactamente y has de poner el avión en la pista lo más pronto posible. Si el viento es cruzado pero estable, la cosa es bastante más sencilla. :) Me alegra que te haya gustado! Yo estuve en el estreno pero no pude hablar casi nada... iba en un tren por el medio de Polonia y se me cortaba internet cada 5 segundos jaja Un desastre! Que tengas un buen Domingo! :)

Just a minor correction - you didn't fly over the English Channel, it was actually the North Sea. The English Channel is much further south essentially along the south coast of England and up to a point roughly level with the Thames estuary and opposite the south of Belgium and northern France.. The Dover Strait marks the boundary between the English Channel and the North Sea. Excellent video as usual.

unless you flew over Belgium and France from SCHIPOL you could not have entered the English Channel directly, you would have entered the North Sea from SCHIPOL, and flying by HOOFDDORP & NIEUW VINNEP, also Grimsby is on the North sea coast not the English Channel, to fly over the English channel from Holland you would have to either fly along the North sea and then the Dover straits or fly over other countries.

The a320 is okay but I still apparently like the A350 and the A380. I'm kinda sad that the A380 is gonna shut down smh, I mean it already did but I'm gonna miss it a lot Lol

how come the aircraft was routed to fly over Grimsby up to Leeds in Yorkshire, then back down to Preston and Blackpool in Lancashire and back out to sea, it would have been easier to route the aircraft to either fly over Liverpool then over the Irish Sea or follow the sea from Holland

There is something called airways that planes must follow. Also, exactly in the middle of the direct route between Amsterdam and Dublin, in a straight line, you can find one of the busiest airspaces in the world: the London airspace. It can't be crossed in a straight line unless a lot of ATC facilities coordinate it in advance, and that's happening only when you are flying already at cruise altitude (something that we couldn't do) or you are some kind of plane that has priority, like transporting human organs for donation or something like that. Yes, I've considered it many times this year. But all the restrictions made it impossible. Hopefully, it will be possible in 2021! :)

Well, take into account that you are listening to almost all msgs of a 1:30h flight in 15 min. So probably it was my mistake to put them completely. Hope you've enjoyed the video :)
