TRIP REPORT | THAI AIRWAYS A350 (ECONOMY) | Bangkok to Frankfurt | FULL FLIGHT EXPERIENCE!

Trip Report of my Thai Airways flight from Bangkok to Frankfurt aboard a brand new Airbus A350-900 aircraft in Economy Class! It was my first flight on an Airbus A350 and this 11 hour 30 minutes long-haul flight with Thai Airways was very enjoyable. The flight was very empty so i had a full row for myself. Furthermore the cabin was very clean and modern (the aircraft was less than a month old)! My seat was 47K which offers a great wing view too. The flight departed on-time from Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK). A first snack and drink was served shortly after departure as well as the first meal. After the meal i made myself comfortable in the 3 seats i had available and slept for some time. In the back of the aircraft you could get more drinks at anytime. The flight was very smooth but took longer because we had strong headwinds. While watching the sunset over Europe the second meal was served about an hour before landing at Frankfurt am Main Intl. Airport (FRA), Germany. Even though we departed on-time we arrived half an hour late. All in all the experience on this Thai Airways flight was very positive and i would fly with them again. Well made report. I flew on HS-THJ from Tokyo Narita to Bangkok last month. First time in an A350. I was very impressed with Thai's economy class seats. I usually fly business class (due to back injuries that make many economy seats too uncomfortable). But I found these seats very comfortable (not too fussed on Thai food, but that's not the airline's fault). I did find the window shades a bit stiff (that was probably due to the plane being new-it was almost 3 months old then), and nice and quiet (we were seated in 32K) being forward of the engines. Pity they only have one camera (A380s have 3), and that the windows are smaller than Boeing windows. Admittedly I'm a Boeing fan, so biased to a degree. Overall, I'd highly recommend Thai A350 economy class, irrespective of flight length. My wife found Thai's A350 economy seats a little more comfortable than on the Thai 787-8.

Endlich mal ein vernünftiges Essen in der Eco. Die A 350 ist ein tolles Flugzeug. Schön leise und diese Technologie. Das ist ne andere Hausnummer als die 787. Ist ja auch 25 Millionen teurer als die 787.

Had they ordered ultra-long-range version then Thai Airways can restart NYC from BKK by using EWR to gain the United Airlines feed

I went to Thailand in 2014 but not with Thai Airways... Air France and Aeroflot because I did a stop at Moscow. The planes was an A320 from Paris to Moscow and a Boeing 777-300 from Moscow to Bangkok.

Seems like my flights within US are always packed. Is this typical in some world regions to have empty seats? Can you change seats on a flight once in the air. I have never flown international and just curious.

+Greg O'Hare depends on the dates and route you are flying i guess but also the price and the price people will pay for a ticket. Most of the times you can change your seat when up in the air. Just ask to be sure ;)

Hallo, warum sind Sie erst von Phuket nach Bangkok geflogen? Es gibt doch die Direktverbindung (TG 926) von Phuket nach Frankfurt, auch mit A350!

e20plm 4 ปีกว่าแล้วไม่มีนักการเมือง มีแต่คนดีบริหารบ้านเมือง แต่ยังขาดทุนหนักผุ้ถือหุ้นขาดทุนทั่วหน้า เงินปันผลไม่เคยได้ขายก็ขาดทุน ซื้อหุ้นเพิ่มทุน 2รอบแล้ว ปัญหาของบินไทยไม่ใช่นักการเมือง แต่เป็นเด็กเส้น และลูกท่านหลายเธอทั้งหลาย

Ummm windows are smaller than in 787 and RR fan blades are in Titanium and not in Composite like in GE propellers, moreover the wings have the crap winslets, this means Airbus had big issues with the wings so they were costrained to adopt this tradeoff to enhance the aerodynamic efficence. Not a much advanced plane i have to say it looks rushed, likely Airbus sell it at a good discount to compensate. Absolutely not a big deal for Airbus balance sheet.....anyway better than nothing against game changer 787.

Bacamor Lmao it seems you're a hardcore Boeing fanboy. If you ask most passengers they'll tell ya the A350 is way better than the 787. First of all it's quieter and it's more comfortable. Those 787 engines are nothing compared to Trent XWB! A350's engines produce more thrust and are also more quieter. "The wings have crap winslets". You mean winglets? No wonder the A350 is more efficient. Airbus didn't have any big problem with any wing, they've been using winglets long ago. The sharklet is a new technology and it and the engines are what makes the A350 a more efficient plane compared to the 787 with some ugly not so efficient wings. Airbus also applied aeronautical biomimicry to the A350 wings! With the 787 battery explosions that went on and with all the 787 unreliable performance issues going on now shows 787 is really crap! It seems 787 is the rushed one. 787 is nothing compared to the Almighty A350 so you can shut up. Also, just like Airbus, Boeing sells the 787 at a very good discount too.

Andrew Anane honestly it is not, the structure is very conservative and it lacks. of many advanced solutions 787 has since the beginning. The hydraulic system is old style, same applies to air conditioning. The fuselage is not monolithic. It is well known the average cost per seat is higher than 787, and companies can not do great economics on a350. Better than nothing.....Airbus had not the money to develop a brand new plane like 787 is. I don t know the real selling price of this plane, still Airbus is doing great discounts, looking their not so good balance sheet. Recently they sold 8 a330 with two more for free at qantas. Not a good manner to survive i have to say......
