At the recent London Luxury Afloat boat show at St. Katharine Docks, MBY editor Hugo Andreae took the chance to tour the Azimut S6 sportsbridge yacht...

I love this little beauty! One of my favourites i⁹n the 50 to 60 foot range! Only change id make is ask azimut to put deisel heating in aft cockpit so can eat outside in summer and winter when enclosed and get rid of raising dinning table in saloon to open it up and its a real saloon without sitting at a dinning table while entertaining guests watching tv or evening chat and drinks! Not a fan of saloons with a dining table! The rest is a real beauty! Happy sailing all! 🛥⚓ and god bless all help others when ever we can! 🙏💙

This is a bit of an old dad's boat compared to the Absolute Navetta. Those 6 windows on the side might look ok from the outside but if you're inside it's useless. The main windscreen being two piece is also a bit of a let down. When you're going through sceneic areas, who wants to look at a great big plank in your view? The drawback of three engines over two is you have 50% more things to service, replace, to go wrong etc.

Lovely boat and a brilliant tour as usual, I like the way the kitchen cupboards juts out but floats above the carpet, nice touch that but I can't believe they felt the need to try and hide the cutlery from you 🤪. 👍❤️🇬🇧

Great tour Hugo……. felt very personal, not rushed…… fortunate not fighting for space. I wonder if you could run with just the centreline engine for restricted river use, Norfolk Broads and the like….. My ideal would have an aft cabin, a pair of D6’s on shafts with a centreline D3 with a feathering auto prop…… although I wonder if the hull would struggle dragging the two main props, unless if they were also able to feather…… we can all dream. I love the Azimut style, classy without looking trashy……. 🙂🇬🇧

The squared off bow design was to create more space for the VIP cabin, not primarily to create more deck/anchor space-that’s a bonus.

I was shocked at how forward the VIP cabin bulkhead was positioned given its large size! I was expecting a huge storage compartment between that bulkhead and the chain locker but there is nothing of the sort.

I just do not get the three engines. Why not two with the equal hp? Certainly less to service, electronics and fewer complexities. There must be an engineering reason, but if so, why don’t other sports yachts “triple up”?

Packaging. Smaller engines mean a shorter engine bay.

@@sirmurf I get it, but a triple pack is a lot of extra stuff in an engine bay, more strainers, more fuel filters and polishing systems, exhaust systems etc. Just seems like a lot of stuff. Don’t get me wrong, the yacht is marvelous, and if I was in that market I would certainly look an one.. it is one heck of a boat.

@@sirmurf You have a point, the boat most likely could be crewed. But I look at sport yachts such as these more like a Ferrari than a Rolls. One I want to drive, throw around, play with and be a little more hands on, the other I would have chauffeured.

Thanks for the tour Hugo. One thing I don’t understand with these S boat designs; if the conditions/weather is nice enough for you to have the sunroof open above the main helm, wouldn’t you just go up and use the one at the flybridge? Just thinking out loud

Hugo, your back! I know, you were putting your former SAS skills to use in Ukraine, training fighters I guerrilla warfare. They talked about a mysterious lone sniper that had reeked havoc on the Russians and nobody knew who it was. I knew though. One Mr. Hugo. The boat is beautiful but I've heard Azimuts quality hasn't improved much. Not as bad as Benetti, which they also own, but they've had some issues. MarineMax has started urging all owners to get extended warranties now on all the Azimut amd affiliated companies boats. Not sure if that's true, but it's a persistent rumor. Who knows. Gorgeous boat it is.

@@darthkek1953 Obviously, no survivors. They say the ghost of death who walks, has often been heard talking to his victims about yachts and boats before they pass away. Telling them 'Beautiful lines and joinery in a full beam master with posh elegance and true styling by Achille Savigne that extends playfully tnto the ensuite bathroom.' And 'full views across hull windows that surround you and bathe you in natural sunlight' . So it's either him or Nick from Aquaholic...maybe David Seals...Seal? Giving us a little clue? Nobody has heard him say 'sumptuous' though so kinda rules him out.

100% Hugo has pimp slapped the charging handle on an MP5SD6 a few times while ripping the tape off the spoon of a 9 banger before. Like a boss.

I realise this size of boat would normally be owner operated but they usually do have a crew cabin of sorts. However, since they are often barely more than a storage locker with a bench for a bed I think Azimut have got it right not bothering. I often find, with Italian boats, there is normally somewhere where they have sacrificed practicality over style, that doesn't seems to have happened here. Overall though I think I'd prefer a full flybridge over this, but that's a personal choice. Very nice tour Hugo, thankyou.

No wonder MJM is dropping out of the large boat business. As great as their boats are, no one's going to pay 3 million for a boat that has half the features this has.

@@darthkek1953 the very best. From what I've heard, nothing compares as far as a smooth ride and very seaworthy. They're a boaters boat. If you're looking for a floating condo, they're not for you. But you can see from videos that they handle like a sports car, and their fuel efficiency is very good. At 35 knots, a 50z burns 49 gph. The same amount similar boats burn at 25 knots.

Why would they take up all of that valuable aft galley space for a switch board, which could have been stowed away just about anywhere..why not put it at the helm or engine space..??? This really bugs me with some makers.. The fly bridge looks like an unnecessary after thought too..

Two negatives. Wouldn't the center engine be difficult to access for any maintenance? The flybridge ladder is too close to the barbeque and having to tilt it up does not solve the access issue either. I hope you do not have to cut away the fiberglass tender garage to pull an engine!

From a maintenance point of view that middle engine and drive are horrendously placed with the garage on top. Fuel consumption, especially at present prices would make the credit card cry but other than that a very nice looking boat.

It’s a very nice boat but the styling of the boat on show will feel outdated quite fast I fear… these kind of grained wood and a lot of different colors and finishes doesn’t feel that classy in my opinion

Can’t you adjust your camera settings or render settings so you’ve got a greater than 15 FPS? It’s nauseating to watch. If you’re reviewing +£1m boats surely you can upgrade your coolpix camera to something capable of 50FPS +

You never told of the specifications, not even the length. The manufactures designation S6 is meaningless.

It’s 59ft 1in long - the 6 in S6 refers to its approx LOA of 60ft

Terrible engine room, no room to work on even the simplest of tasks like an oil change. Its just a weird design in general, even the cut out through the rear cockpit coming down the starboard side. I don’t see any lockers for fender storage either.

That boat has some terrible design flaws, the engine room is terrible and i would hate to have to service the middle one! The cockpit bbq looks like an after thought and those stairs to the flybridge are terrible. I wouldnt give this one a second look.
