You were hoping for a negative result (and a child not knowing who his dad was )because you have a gripe with what you perceive to be a " religious snob?" Sounds like a deep-seated personal issue. While I think her mother was wrong to pressure marriage and probably did not lead by example, there are plenty of parents that successfully encourage morals and values . Values that if were followed, would make shows like this obsolete. I am very grateful that my parents encouraged values for me. It saved me from a lot of problems.

It is possible to follow no religion and even to not believe in God or eternal life to be a good person and to possess strong moral principles, to know right from wrong and to live accordingly. What I don't like is people displaying feelings of superiority, whatever they might be based on. This mother oozed such a feelings, even in the face of her complete failure to transmit her particular set of values to her daughter.

I totally agree about the 12 year fiancé, he’s not going to marry you BUT I also have to say my sister went with her first husband for 11 years before he married her. (19 years age difference.) Her first husband died & she went with a guy 10 years older for 8 years and they married. Me, never married. 😂
