@@lk5388 I'm not talking about the promos, I'm talking about his understanding of how to make the gimmick work, for dozens of years, becoming the best gimmick ever according to every wrestling mind. What he needed to do, how he needed to work, how he could embellish his character without any promos, when he needed to pivot and when to get back. It's hard to tell now, but it was a really tough gimmick to pull off, any other wrestler would just look stupid, playing a zombie

Taker has been known for being a BEAST with conditioning. Despite his size, he was rumored to be one of the most cardiovascularly fit in the locker room. As good as lifting is, and as strong as he was, it was his work capacity and mobility that set him apart. How many guys over 300lbs were tightrope walking and doing out of ring dives?
@SoreEater

Taker's background in basketball definitely helped. My favorite move of his is the leg drop in the old school days - he would kick his leg up, jump and soar at what looked like 2m in the air, it looked almost inhuman considering his size and gimmick. Those flying lariats he was doing in his young days, man. He would go up so high and stay in the air for so long

I got to see Undertaker live at 4 different shows AND even meet him on 2 separate occasions. Seen him live at the very first wrestling event I ever went to, which was an In Your House PPV in Louisville KY in 1996. It was the event where he pulled Nash under the ring in that cage match with Bret Hart. Seen him live again a year and a half later in 1997 again in Louisville at In Your House: Ground Zero; which was his first ever televised match with HBK and the first time he ever did that suicide dive over the top rope. I was in row 4 on the floor right behind the ring steps he walks up and raises the lights. It was awesome. The next 2 times I seen him live was at random Smackdown tapings in 2008 and 2009. I met him for the first time before the Ground Zero PPV at this huge meet and greet. For a little while, when WWF/E was struggling because of WCW, you could buy an all access ticket and get to the venue like 3-4 hrs before the show and LITERALLY get just about everyone's autograph who is there. There'd be this long row of tables and the guys would just sit there and sign autographs as the fans just walked down the row from person to person. I was 9 and Taker was perfect. Kayfabe was still the rule and he was the Deadman so he wouldn't shake hands or do pictures, he'd sign whatever and simply say, "next!", and NOBODY argued either. The next time I seen him live was at an autograph signing in 2003 but this time he was the ABA. So he'd interact, smile, tell jokes, take pics, shake hands, etc. as I walked up, now 15, I tried to explain to this man, who was my hero, how much he meant to me and I started crying like a baby. IDK why, but I broke down like a baby as I tried to explain to my hero that he was my hero. He told me to meet him at the end of his table. When I did, he got down on one knee (was still taller than me too) and said, "Do you know why I keep doing what I do? Because of fans like you. Just knowing that there's people out there who feel the way you do keeps me loving the game. You're my hero too." He then hugged me, took a pic with me, and that was that. That was the last time I met him but as I've said, I've seen him live a few times after that. Taker, IMO, is the GOAT. When you're the most respected person in a field from your predecessors, your peers, those that came after you, and those who watch you; you're the GOAT! Even more so when you know why and how he's earned that level of respect and reverence.

Idk if Taker will ever see this but he did an excellent job at Wrestlemanja. It was perfect. This is from a pure storytelling perspective. The Rock taking on this role of the “Final Boss” at a Wrestlemania event and Taker came to show who the true Wrestlemania God is. I also saw it as Taker defending the honor of the Rhodes family, and putting the title in the hands of the son of a true legend. When he gave that subtle look over to Cody before he exits the ring with the lights out, it gave me the feeling of him saying, “It’s your time now, Son of Dusty.”

Had the privilege of seeing him wrestle live once. Amazing story. It was Bragging Rights, and he faced Kane in a Buried Alive match. Again. Took forever to get on because it some problems building the gravesight. I was pissed off a bit, and it was that Vickie Guerrero "Excuse Me!" era. So I yelled, "Kick her in the neck!" Fast forward to the match. I could tell something was off right away. Mark just looked hurt. Seemed like a hip problem. Walk to the ring took longer, not throwing punches as usual. I was close enough above the gravesight to have a perfect view of what happened next. And I'll never forget it. I had enough respect for him that without thinking, I just yelled, "We love you, Mark!" I was there with my mom and friends, my section was roudy the whole night, but Mark looked right up at me. So many grabbed me, yelling cheering, and I was just in shock almost. He went right back to whopping the shit out of Kane, and then Nexus came out and threw him in the hole. Now, all these years later, my mother has unfortunately passed away, but I still have that moment to treasure with her. I didn't mean to say it. Know the rules of wrestling. I was so wrapped up and excited that it was an accident but purely out of respect. And even after all these years, after all that I just want to say, thank you, Mark. From all of us. Thank you

I am from Albany New York, however back in 2002, when i was 15 years old i spent the summer with my uncle and his wife in Albiene Texas. It was a great experience. I was introduced to a couple of sisters, and their friends. The two sisters were named after the singers Gloria and Selena two pretty mexican girls, It was an awesome summer that i will always hold dear to my heart. The crazy part is about 15 years later i flew out to Dallas Texas for WrestleMania 32 with a buddy of mine. Out of nowhere i ended up bumping into the sisters Gloria and Selena. It was mind boggling. My buddy and i chilled with the sisters the entire WrestleMania weekend. Memories that i will always cherish. Him as mark/taker/badass is perfect for his story. Its just like kane being corporate kane. He's still a monster but he is more then just a monster. And it works. Allows him to maintain that he is and always will be taker and bad ass.

It´s so frickin´cool to see the hero I adored as a kid called The Undertaker talking about things I watched as a 13/14 year old and actually believed the feuds were real, it sure as hell felt real. Taker vs HBK at WM, Taker VS HHH at WM, stuff like that hold so much memories. The only wrestler I ever owned merch from, even though I don´t fit the shirt anymore I still have it. Also just really amazing to see the human behind the performer. Now that it's the Paul Levesque era (another hero from back then, that's why Taker vs HHH was so impactful for me as well) I'm stoked to see what's coming!

Mark isn't old enough, but he reminds me of my grandfather. Just really chill, but also extremely intimidating due to his size, tats, gravely voice, funny and someone that just honestly cares about "his" people on a personal level. I didn't watch a lot of wresting while he was just the undertaker, but when he took on the persona of American Bad*** I was hooked. That persona seemed more real than mask. It was just Mark turned up to 500% rather than a costume he wore. He left an impression in wrestling history that will never be forgotten and that many will try to copy for decades to come. I'd love to see him as the GM at one point.

1 more thing I have to say thanks to Mark for showing the respect, and taking seriously how important that the Undertaker character really is... 30 years of hard work and a Legacy that really will never be matched and a Character that was portrayed to perfection should be left alone and I agree with Mark... let's not cheapen it... I'm sure that even now it is possible that we may see the Undertaker again one day if it's done right with a good story behind it and for a good reason otherwise as much as I'd love to see it... I'm OK with the way things ended

I can't believe I just realized that Matt lives in my hometown. Always love when I hear people mention Savannah. I will say the traffic near the highway has been insane, especially with the slow ass construction on 95 as well. And if you're looking for good Mexican food in Savannah, I recommend Tequila's Town or Tacos + Tequilas in Savannah and Pooler. Much love guys and I can definitely attest that there would be plenty of people in the Savannah area that would love to attend a live show.

I'm still waiting for the day when people like a Vince Russo with his "Castrating Of The Marks" for the lights to go pitch black, you hear the iconic tomb sound, lightning strikes, the lights come back up, and you see the Undertaker appear and say in his Undertaker voice, "I am a Mark."

I'll never forget seeing the undertaker at A Madison square Garden house show when I was 8 or 9 years old. I was in the 2nd row from the metal divider. He scared me to death ☠️! Those are some of my best memories watching him beat the hell out of Barry Horowitz or the Brooklyn brawler. Great times! Edit: watching him Tombstone these guys, cross the arms, roll his eyes and pin them was awesome.. then he would put them in the body bag . I really thought they were dead 😂
