Triple Play is a favorite tradition here at Missouri Star Quilt Company. Once a month, Jenny, Misty, and Natalie each demonstrate their own unique spin on a favorite block, technique, or template. In this episode, the talented Doan ladies share three fabulous new Dresden quilt patterns.
Jenny's Little Bit of Sunshine quilt is pretty as a sunrise with patchwork Dresden rays. It's made with the Effervescence layer cake by Sue Daley Designs for Riley Blake.
Misty's Dresdens Around the World quilt is a black and white classic with a dazzling rainbow twist. Tiny applique Dresdens are made with the Designer Essential Solids jelly roll by Tula Pink for FreeSpirit Fabrics-and the scraps are pieced into a colorful binding.
Natalie's Drifting Dresdens quilt is a choose-your-own-adventure modern quilt pattern. It's made with a print layer cake (Besties by Tula Pink for FreeSpirit Fabrics) and a solid layer cake (Essex Yarn Dyed Linen Black by Robert Kaufman Fabrics). Copy Natalie's layout or create one of your own.

Jenny's quilt would make a wonderful baby quilt, especially if you embroidered different happy faces on the sun and used some novelty baby prints for the dresdens.

I am in awe of you three women! Each month you come up with three quilts that are uniquely different from each other's, using one block theme. These are stunning. Each pattern is so uniquely different that a quilt can be made for many personalities and design/color. A style in traditional, traditional with a little bit of a modern twist, and modern. I love the format of the Triple Play videos. Each quilt gets its own reveal time. But here’s an idea for a game. Show all three quilts at the beginning letting the viewer decide who made which quilt. Each of the girls has a distinctive style. I enjoy seeing if they stay true to their respective styles. They always do!

it's been a while since I commented on triple play, I just wanted to say each one is fabulous. I am, as Jenny, a big Dresden fan (no pun intended). One of my first memories of MSQC was the different uses of Dresden in wall hangings. I still use my sunflower dresdens with the picket fence border as my door hanger each year. good job y'all

So glad I caught this !!!!! I want to play with different size circles in Jenny's quilt! I want to make a maze with Misty blocks and I love how Natalie used both style of blocks in her quilt!!!

I would never have guessed whose quilts were who this week! I’d love to see an improv version of Jenny’s with different size rays and suns. It would also be adorable placed with the suns pointing towards each other without sashing. I’d also love Jenny’s in a replica fabric. Having the traditional print with such a modern pattern would be fun!

I totally love Jenny's quilt ! I would call it SUNSHINE ! Liked the girls quilts also but not a fan of dark colors , black or gray. I fight depression so bad my doctor told me to avoid dark places, colors and closed in places as it triggers my depression. Jenny's quilt made me extremely happy and i love that !!❤❤❤

I just wanted to say how awesome your tutorials are!! I've had a little Dresden template for several years and since there was no visual [just written instructions], I never got out of the starting gate with it. Thanks to you, now I can!! Also, I've had a couple quilting books on the shelf for years - 10 or 15 years!!! Fat quarter quilts and another, and just couldn't put the directions together in my brain [and I love math, algebra, geometry - you name it], but it stumped me. Until one day when I was laid up with a bad back, I binged a bunch of your tutorials. Boom - all of a sudden I GOT it!!! The books don't use precuts [that's how old they are] but at least I have a glimmer of how to put a few together that appeal to me. Thank you so much for being an amazing Quilt Goddess Jenny!! 😍

Now I’m going to need a Dresden ruler along with my all time FAVORITE MSQC 2 1/2” ruler that was mistakenly ( carelessly) brushed into the trash with a pile of scraps!
