Triple Thick Glaze for Paper Beads

A few weeks ago I posted a video about glazing paper beads with Diamond Glaze and you guys loved it! There are so many glazes out there, it’s hard to know which one works best for paper beads. So I’m making it into a series. Tell me in the comments which paper bead glazes or methods you want to learn about and I’ll make a video. At the end of the series, I’ll put the finished beads to the test and see which glaze is the best. Right now In this video, we’ll look at using Deco Art’s Triple Thick Glaze on paper beads.

I use Triple Thick, and love it. It isn't the right glaze if you want a more organic look, and natural paper look. You end up with a glass looking bead. It's self leveling too.

....new to your channel; I really enjoy: watching, listening and learning. I do paper beading and find embossing powder achieves the same results faster. I realize we don't all have the tools to emboss, this is just my point of view.

Hi Renee! Thank you so much! I have done a couple of videos on glazing with embossing powder. It does give a nice look, although one of my necklaces that I wore a lot ended up cracking. That might be because I put the powder on too thick. Has that ever happened to you?

I have the Vibrance Amazing Base and Vibrance Glaze but I haven’t used it yet as I am just rolling up a ton of beads first. I will glaze them and then start to create! 😊 I’m hoping it works well!

I would like to see the comparisons using Minwax & the "new" Mod Podge Ultra gloss Spray on Glue & Sealer. I also would like to see all of your comparisons all together so we can see which ones you like the best & which ones your subscribers like the best. Thanks for doing this for us! :)

I'd like to see the brush on resin. I believe it's from Tiny Panda. I have some but haven't tried on paper beads.

I have not use the DecoArt Gloss varnish, but unless it says that it is specifically for hardening, it won't make the beads hard.

Great Tutorial! Since the Diamond Glaze isn't waterproof, do you do anything to your beads at the end of the process to make them waterproof? Have you had any experience with the glaze melting when you get the paper beads wet/damp?

No, the glaze is water resistant so it stands up to sweat and hand washing etc. It just won't last for hours if submerged. I have paper beads that are 5 years old and still shiny and perfect!

I've bought 5 different tubs of Mod Podge but not started to use them yet - do you ever use them on beads?

I bought a bottle of Mod Podge that I'm going to include in my glaze series but I haven't used it yet. That video will be coming up soon!

Is there a comparison video using the different glazes? Which one do you prefer? I use typically use Mod Podge and then follow up with two coats of Diamond Glaze, but sometimes it ends up being slightly sticky. I wanted to try Triple Thick. Do you find that one leaves a bit of a sticky/tacky finish? What does everyone else use to not have a sticky finish? I’m wondering if I should just use the Diamond Glaze without first using the Mod Podge.

I generally don't use Mod Pod, but I have heard others say that it is sticky. I use either the Triple Thick or the Diamond Glaze and never have sticking problems.

I use 2 coats of Vibrance then top with 2 coats of Minwax Polycrylic

Yes, you can use clear nail polish. However, nail polish does tend to wear and chip over time. Diamond glaze or triple think will last longer.

I am wondering skewers you use, too. I have tried 3 different brands and my bead just swirls around on the stick and make it hard to glaze.

I swish them around in a cup of clean water. If the glaze has started to dry, I use dish soap to help get it off.

Hello, do you know how to open a triple thick jar that always gets glued shut? It is impossible to pry open even with scissors or a needle
