Its so funny to hear the negative comments from the riders. I remember when all these sleds were new. They were the talk of the year. Nothing but positive awesome comments about them. To me they will always be awesome just like they were when new. Logan you ask how we older ones did it. We were tough. We didn't have what you have to ride like todays sleds. These old sleds were awesome compared to our older leaf spring sleds we came off of. We though of them, just like you do the new sleds.

I've been off sleds now for over 20yrs. My son has never ridden one yet! we don't get a lot of good rideable snow here in NE PA as many would want you to think. So new ones with their price just isn't practical. I'd take that pair of Indy 650's in a heartbeat for us just to have a good time now and then when we get enough snow to ride for a day or two. My sled growing up...ehh, can't remember the exact year but it was an old Ski Doo Olympique 1cyl. 335cc with that big round ugly hood and bogie wheels..lol! Don't talk about these sleds like it's impossible to go on a destination ride. Left home with a quad of triples years ago, pulled back into home 5 days and 1800+ miles later. There were some mornings where the repairs took until afternoon to get rolling again, but we had no support vehicle, and just one little head gasket kept us from all riding back into town at the end of the trip. Destination rides they are.

Thats what struck me here. These guys bragging about 100 miles in a day and 1800 miles in a season. In the late 80's, early nineties we had a group where the boys rode every Wednesday night and couples on Saturday night. Sometimes book rooms for the night on a lake, pleasure ride/race on Sundays, then pound for home. We easily did 400 miles a week and 10,000 in a season. At 15, my son was doing 200 miles a week taking his girlfriend home from school every day. We were all in our late 30's, early forties at the time. I bought my first sled in early 1968, an end of season special 1967 Skidoo 12hp. Came in a cardboard box, some assembly required. $595 Canadian pick up at the dealer price. I had that thing for years until I bought a 399cc twin about '74. I sold it to a friend who used it for another 10 years or more to travel to his ice fishing hut and tow it on and off the lake each year.
