Simply amazing what these guys can do with a diesel.

What struck me was how smooth,almost turbine like it is. It left with no drama, smooth is fast. It's very sorted out. Audi is having great success with their turbo diesel Lemans Prototype car. Diesels are going to be necessary in the USA. It's nice to see we can have some fun with them too.

They all sound great, diesels are a fun show with heaps of power!

Only the better would be to see max giving that smirk at the line! We miss ya man, good job guys!

... Hypermax / Jerry Lagod is THE engine tuner for the DT 436 / 466 engine. They make their own blocks and heads with IH part numbers. This dragster looks like it has the "typical" Tractor Pull Diesel Super Stock set up from Hypermax. Pump, Turbos...

If you go to my website....go to webshots and look up flameredram. It wont let me link it here. You can see the engine. It does have 3 turbos. Definately will run way faster but it was the first time out with this dragster. Track was very slick and everyone had trouble getting traction.

I might be missing something, but it looked like it was only two turbos. either way that is way cool for a mid 7 second diesel on a cold mostly unprepped track.

It is a Hypermax Engine and set up. Hypermax cast the block and head. They also manufacture the crank, rods, pistons, cam, dry sump oil pan, valve cover, front cover, crankshaft balancer, Injection pump, lines & injectors, turbos & pipes, intake manifold & exhaust manifold. It is based on a International DT 466 series engine which is not manfactured any more.

Not all diesels sound good, but they do all tend to have a nice raw sound to the exhaust. I find that both can sound amazing, or terrible, in their own ways.

I think perhaps you misunderstood my comment. My intention was to show my love for all things diesel, especially something as hairy- chested as the subject matter of the video.

Yeah. Diesel engines make wonderful sounds. Their sound is powerful but subdued and demure. A gasser is loud, high pitch and quite annoying. Caterpillar engines sound especially nice.

It wouldn't do much. Cats are primarily for converting CO to CO2. Diesels are very good at producing only CO2 and carbon, carbon being the black soot/smoke you see coming out the exhaust.

believe it or not, it's not actually as harmful for the environment as regular petrol. it is however, worse for humans.(which kind of even it off.)

try a super stock engine from tractorpulling, they run on methanol

alot. around 1k lbs at least. you figure our stock f250 turbo diesel truck makes 315 ft lbs. and its old technology, not really scorching . so that thing is around 1 or 2 k lbs at least....that motor powers trucks, box trucks and school buses.

a cummins powered dragster scheid has. makes 7s at 200
