RULES:
During setup, place the kings and pawns in their usual spots. Pick one player to have 7 knights on their back row while the other has three queens in the following starting positions. En Passant is allowed like normal. When a pawn reaches the farthest row, it promotes like normal. The first player to checkmate their opponent, wins.

@@revimfadli4666 Removing a pawn and a queen from white would make it balanced in material. But Black would have a major advantage because the amount of pieces. Generally, 3 minor pieces overpowers one queen because of the amount of space three pieces can cover. Add the fact that knights can reinforce each other and the pawns and Black generally has the advantage when they play well. Edit: Typo through misspressing.

Engines cannot calculate that far. They give the evaluation based on material count. If you try to play a few moves you'll find that this setup is playable for both sides.

@@anthonysimpson8517 An engine's evaluation takes way more into account than material. And Stockfish 11 at depth 30 is still evaluating +9.3 (winning for white)

And here I thought charge of the light brigade was a normal spell card that sends the top 3 cards of your deck to the GY as cost, then at resolution lets you add 1 level 4 or lower lightsworn monster from your deck to your hand.

I thought of the same thing lol. Who else still plays the 2016 Yugioh: LOTD? I do. I main Psy-Frames and occasionally play Qliphort Demise and Madolche (I used to play FK Kozmo but don’t really like playing meta). I love opening D-Fissure or Macros, my opponent usually scoops or rage quits lol. If you come across or remember a Psy-Frame player, chances are it’s me since I don’t see anyone else playing it. I just want to watch the world burn sometimes lol

When a pawn promotes "like normal", does that mean that it can become a rook or a bishop? 99% of the time you wouldn't care, but very rarely it's needed to avoid a stalemate.

@@Sir-Taco He only says that because he doesn't want to explain the movement rules again, and he wants to clarify things. Just because he said something doesn't mean it's necessarily different.

Should have mentioned it in the video, but this is a great variation for huge rating differences. White has a large advantage, so the lower rated/skilled player should play white.

So it may seem unbalanced at a glance cuz queens are worth more points in normal chess, but I actually find it hard to secure safe captures. It seems to me that as white, your pawns are what baits the opponents into trades and your queens are used to either force the issue and/or support the attack. On the flip side, it seems it's also hard for black's knights to captures queens due to the queen's versatile movement options. I don't know how balanced it is, but it certainly seems playable. In the end, it seems white wants to be on the offensive with queens threatening multiple pieces from a distance, and black wants to be defensive while looking for pins, forks, and other strategic attacks with knights and pawns defending each other from threats. Well, that's just my opinion, and I'm just a rusty intermediate chess player. I'd have to see a few games before I can say any of this rings true with certainty.

tbh in this senerio the queen side might be good because it has more material advantage but I think that knight side would have the advantage because each knight is spendable because of it's low value while the queen must be protected so knight side would go very aggressive and queen side is forced to defend. giving a upperhand to knight side

No the rules are: mill the top 3 pawn on your board to add a lightqueen to your pool to the board

Mill 3 pawns to add a queen to your back row. Roll 3 10-sided dice, where the 10 on each die has been replaced with a picture of a wolf. For each wolf rolled, you may choose to add any 1 piece of your color to the board in any position. (You may do this even if placing that piece causes checkmate.)
